The Palestinian state this gentleman would approve of would be the end of Israel. When will some Israeli politicians stop looking for Muslim mediators; all of them are biased. What kind of rubbish is this ?

There already is a Palestinian state, only no one in the Islamic world seems able to come up with a name. If there were no Palesitnian state already in existence, then why would the whole world be sinking billions of $ into it? Be a gentleman, if truly you wish to be a bridge between Muslims and the West: recognise Israel, and the rest will follow. Also, ask the Palestinians to do something with the land given to them to make their own land flowing with milk and honey. That happens with hard work and good will, in turn you get respect, plus the world would also save precious billions of $ and focus on more important matters.

If Government of Pakistan is sincere with their words into recognization of Israel, then he has to take the stance to sweep the Muslim fanatics and hardliners first as what India always needed !! It is not genocide case but imprisonment them in the call of strong anti-terrorism acts. But first they have to legislate with a sincere mandate. India is in the same state with Pakistan just like Israel and troubled Palestinian. I fully agreed with Musharaff's comments; ‘considerable skills at walking a tightrope’ & 'it would be political suicide to do so today'. It will be a double winning for Pakistan to excel in developing their wealth and jobs for their citizens. The mindsets of Islamic imans too plays an important aspect to interpret Quran verses in the correct meaning. There are more things to polish up than their national religion and mindsets, not mentioning in here and only then Pakistan will be seen as much successful than Syria and Iran. Musharaff is a modern Muslim leader who understand well on the balancing act on the tight rope betwn being religious and its political stance.

President Musharraf words about Israel are the hope in dark Muslim world we have certified lunatics like President of Iran who wants to wipe Israel off from the map. Talking about Palestinian state is just political thing read his words closely watch his actions then decide? He met personally with Ex-Prime Minster Sharon and Ex-Prime Minster Shimon Pierz. We need ally like him in Muslim world. He may not be what we need but he is the choice we have right now

Palestine is an open wound on the forehead of Muslim world. There is no harm in recognizing Israel with the condition of free Palestinian estate. Lets start the political process. Israeli citizens have every right to live with peace. But news like 86% Israelis supported carpet-bombing on Lebanon would shock any civilized person. Peace comes with tolerance and not by extensive use of force on unarmed civilians and propaganda wars on media owned by west. We recognized India (fought three wars with...went almost nuclear in 2001), we should recognize Israel to fill the communication gap b/w two sides as Pakistan seems to be the only country capable enough to do that. We fully support Musharraf on this issue. Jewish community should appreciate his willingness to recognize Israel despite of possibility of a domestic storm for his own government.

what will their recognition help us with? sounds like a good gesture but it's irrelevant and useless. Might as well stay moderate and push for peace.

There are many reasons for every country to support Israel or not.. Almost every muslim majority countries governments not support Israel openly coz of oppostion at home and many other countries( non muslim) coz of Israel handling the Palestinians issue . Even in India , there is lot of problems in supporting Israel openly not coz of 15 % muslim population but coz of different agendas of different political parties. Some make it religious issue some make it political stunt .. all are just explioting normal citizens for the votes ... Pakistan seems to be American ally and even Israel .. but still Pakistan not recoganize Israel. Israel cant sell India high tech arms coz of America. Israel have defense deals with China and China is ally of Pakistan. Every thing is soo messy. Every government seems to have a different approach but all keep citizens in darkness.

we as israelis can't afford to wait to be recognized. i am aware that being part of the civilized world community, we must adhere to international law. we must be accepted and recognized by the international community. however, NO NATION WILL EVER BE ABLE TO DEFEND ISRAELI SOIL AND CITIZENS BUT US AND OUR IDF. IT IS ENOUGH FOR US THAT WE RECOGNIZE OURSELVES AND OUR RIGHT TO OUR SOIL AND TO OUR PEACE!!!! we can't wait. we don't have the luxury of time to wait to be recognized. we must act on our own, for ourselves, for our future. no country in the world has the right to hold our hands tied behind our backs when it comes to our sovreign right for our national security. recognition by arab entities and states will never help us. we are deluding ourselves here. THEY NEVER KEEP A SINGLE PROMISE AND CHANGE THEIR MINDS TOO OFTEN TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY. mousharaff, although a good and moderate leader, his recognition of israel is totally devoid of substance and importance to israel's future survival. enough is enough. stop toying with us. we are here. here to stay, to live, to survive and prosper, to raise our children in peace and harmony, to grow old. it is our intrinsic human, national and political right. we are a recognized nation by the entire world. AND WE INTEND TO STAY SO FOR A VERY VERY LONG TIME DESPITE NON RECOGNITION BY ALL ARAB STATES. so, go ahead, don't recognize us!!!! we won't send you rosh hashana cards in the mail. but leave us the heck alone.
