1. His excessive regard for life during war was his failing !
michael ,   tel aviv & london   (10.01.06)
“If there was something that preoccupied me throughout the war against Hizbullah, it was human life.'. The above most probably explains his failure as IDF Chief of Staff. Sadly, in war soldiers die ! He tried to save lives by only using the IAF and ultimately cost lives and failed in many areas where we could have succeeded. Sharon never suffered from this failing which is what made him a great commander. He should recognize that he is not mentally equipped for the job and resign.

It was not the mistakes but the mistake of not rapidly correcting the mistakes or the inability to percieve the mistakes rapidly that should lead to his resignation, sadly.

IT SEEMS EVERY BIT NEWS FROM HALUTZ AND PERETZ STARTS WITH "I DID THIS.... OR I DIDNT KNOW THAT, OR I DIDNT DO THAT". IT IS TIME TO STOP APOLOGIZING FOR YOUR INEQUITIES IN PROTECTING A NATION CIVILIANS FROM ROCKET ATTACKS, & "STEPPING DOWN". THE "DAYS OF HEROES" HAVE PASSED.
