1. Remember our great Martyrs
Michael U ,   SF,CA   (10.04.06)
Why is this published here? We just celebrated Yom Kippur and recalled our great martyrs who were strong branches in the tree of life, who sacrificed their life for the life of Torah. There were many great Torah scholars who were tormented and tortured to death by the Roman barbarians. Yet this heretic is somehow remembered as a great prophet.... PLEASE! Let us study Torah, Pirkie Avos, and Talmud and learn the true way of the L-rd. Do not be lured by your eyes to follow the false g-ds of strangers.
2. One Critical Omission
Torah Reader ,   USA   (10.04.06)
You neglect to mention that the tombs inside the Garden Tomb have a sign as you exit that reads "He is not here for He is risen". It does not matter where Yeshua was laid to rest - what matters is that He rose from the dead, conquering the grave, changing frightened disciples into powerful and fearless witnesses who were for the most part martyred for their believe in a risen Savior. He is alive today and His followers study the Torah just as Yeshua did. Maybe #1 would do well to realize that.
3. Let the dead hang around tombs
marilyn   (10.04.06)
I believe the angel said to Mary, "why do you look for the 'living' one among the dead.' Same goes today. By the way have you noticed how God buried Moses and kept his burial place secret. Because he knows the 'sin' in man tends to make idols of created things and not worship Him who is a spirit.
4. Thank you, Ynet...
Jeff ,   Herzliya   (10.04.06)
... for this respectful, interesting article. Hatemongers like Michael U (#1) will always write such things in response to an article like that -- can you imagine if a newspaper article in the U.S., on some Jewish subject, elicited a response like his from some cracker anti-semite? Doesn't reflect well on you, Michael U.
5. is it a propaganda to visit the garden
nora ,   jerusalem   (10.04.06)
but you do not say how much you must pay to visit this garden ,i like to visit the church and thmosques at least i do not pay money for this ..i prefer if the article is about the tomb of ibraham and his family in hebrone ..ibraham is the father of the prophets /and i think the place is more accurate in history ..but sure the moslems are sharing this place ..so no propaganda to this holy place
6. True or not?
Josh   (10.04.06)
What ever happened to the "Truth" shall set you free. Abscence of the facts is a serious flaw. Do people think God doesn't care what the truth is? The blind leading the blind?
7. Dear Nora
Vera ,   Jerusalem   (10.04.06)
Dear Nora, the entrance to the garden is free.
8. To Jeff
Ephraim Rauch ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (10.04.06)
I read Michael U's message again and again. There is nothing offensive in it. You are sick.
9. To Ephraim
Jeff ,   Herzliya   (10.04.06)
Just because you found nothing offensive in his comment doesn't mean it's not And somehow your disagreeing with me makes me "sick". So Ynet can't even PUBLISH an article on a Christian site? It's "luring our eyes to follow false g-ds?" And Michael calls Yeshua a "heretic"? Ephraim, put in perspective. An article comes out on December 26 about some aspect of Jewish life. Someone writes in and says, "Why is this published here? We just celebrated Jesus' birth, and now an article about the heretical Jews? You're luring us to believe in the Jews' dirty lies?" So, Ephraim, you see nothing worng with this?

this is why our world looks like it does today, because of people like yourself. If you are so religious, why must you hate sooo much. May God help you find the way. Its funny I am a converted christian to Jew, and the more I hear people like yourself, It makes me want to puke!!!!!!!!!!
11. Wishing Star
Albert ,   Singapore   (10.04.06)
Had been there once. I just want to re-visit the same place. The garden is so beautiful and does the blessed tomb ! Jews should be proud of some memorial that they own it todate. May Lord bless Israel !!
12. barbarism
izaak   (10.04.06)
it is time for the admission that any jewish involvement in crucifixation was a crime against humanity due to its form of execution . no true follower of judaism could collaborate in such an atrocity.
13. 5. - its for free! also the guids are for free there!

14. This is not hate
Michael U ,   SF,CA   (10.04.06)
To those who admonished me, I forgive you for you do not know your sins. As a religious Jew I am most certain that your Jesus was not the Moshiach which our great prophets foresaw. Those who follow this MAN and believe he is a diety are engaging in the most hienous form of idol worship, something which Xtianity absorbed from Paganism {The ManGod}. Judaism has NO understanding of such an idea. Moshiach is not Hashem, Moshiach will live a normal life, not be born of a virgin {remember a SON OF DAVID}. Moshiach will usher in an era of peace and love which your Jebus did not do. That man was not the saviour, we are awaiting him daily. We will rebuild the Temple once he arrives and praise the L-rd. The whole world will know the beauty and love of the ultimate creator of the universe. Do not be fooled into following false prophets. The fact that Jews could read this site, since it is not known as a xtian site, is reason enough not to run it. There is a commandment not to put stumbling blocks before the blind. It is this reason I rebuke Ynet for running it. Maybe a weak Jew might read this and be lured to follow a diety of the goyim. We Jews don't look kindly on such a sin... I have understanding and love for those who are brought up in the xtain religion. I surely don't hate them. I live amongst them, but I know that they are mistaken in their understanding of the nature of Hashem and his world. There is much difference in Jewish theology versus Xtian theology. I seek to provide an example of how to live a life in G-ds loving embrace...
15. I dont go to xtian sites
Michael U ,   SF,CA   (10.04.06)
I don't go to xtian sites trying to lure xtians to the Jewish religion. I leave them be... But I am a regular reader of Ynet, as many other Jews I know. Why should we have to read about the man on the stick?
16. just a thought
Jill ,   Colorado   (10.05.06)
I think these articles are fascinating on an archeological standpoint . Whenever there are ruins of any kind that show existance of biblical days it is exciting for the Jew and Gentile. It brings life to what some say are legends and myths. For every Jew that doesn't believe in Jesus there are just as many that don't believe Elijah ever exsisted or Moses for that matter. Its all good and we can learn from this. Don't fear learning more and more about the world. it is an amazing place we live in. I embrace it all. Just as many millions of intellignet people have for the las 2K years. it is interersting. G_d Bless you abundantly
17. Back to U, Michael U
Jeff ,   Herzliya   (10.05.06)
Well, your writing pretty much says it all. First, of course, many would dispute your various assertions a) that Yeshua was not Messiah and b) that this faith is some sort of pagan hybrid (many accuse Judasim of the same thing, of course, but that doesn't make it true), c) your interpretations of prophecy, etc ad nauseum. You can't even bring yourself to write his name, such is your hatred of him. Yes, it is hatred, to the point where you come up with childish ways to avoid writing his name, and then demand Ynet -- a secular newspaper -- not even run such an article. You're right -- Ynet is not known as a "xtian" site (whatever "xtian" is) -- but neither is it a Jewish site. Again, I just ask the reader of our little feud to turn the tables -- would it be anti-semitism if the situation were reversed -- someone demanding an American newspaper not publish any articles on Judaism? Of course it would. Sorry, you don't get a free pass on the bigotry just because you're Jewish. P.S. Here's a little hint: If you claim to want to convey "understanding and love" to those brought up in the "xtain" religion, and claim to "provide an example of how to live a life in G-d's loving embrace -- whatever that is -- try not referring to Yeshua as "the man on the stick." I don't think any "xtains" would feel very understood or loved by anything you have written.
18. good article and the mount of olives
augustine johnson ,   birmingham, alabama   (10.05.06)
because the centurian could see into the temple some think yeshua died on the mount of olives, and the viel of the temple was torn and people could see from the mount of olives--- whatever yeshua died saying he was bearing the sins of the people ========= shalom to the greatest country , israel =========augustine

Dear Jeff, what are you doing in Israel?
20. Jeff #17 You are an Arrogant Twitt!
Edwin ,   Canada   (10.05.06)
You obviously have no idea about Judaism and interpret all things in the light of your New Testament. You are arrogant to come to a Jewish website and lambaste Orthodox Jews for expressing Jewish ideas. I have gone to your Xian (Messianic) sites which refuse to publish feedback comments that would question their own narrow view (Scared one might waylay the hoodwinked?). Instead they spam submitters with all kinds of stupid commentaries on their version of the Tenach. Please don’t abuse this site because it publishes most comments, regardless of how tasteless they are.
21. To Jeff
Michael U ,   SF,CA   (10.05.06)
Jeff, In retrospect I do apologize to referring to your religious icon as I did. I did not mean it to be hurtful or demeaning. I don't agree with your idea comparing what I said to antisemitism. Antisemitism is more than not believing the Jewish religion. Antisemitism is the HATRED OF JEWISH PEOPLE. I don't hate any xtian people. I love all of HIS creations, the animals, the luminaries, and the earth. I have never seen an American paper write anything which even resembles Jewish religious beliefs. Here in SF, this last Yom Kippur, the article in the SF Chronical mostly consisted of Jews asked about the problems in Israel. It was totally devoid of religious content. So I don't expect much from the secular American press concerning Jewish theology. I don't call that antisemitism, though we never know. If you believe that Hashem is the creator of the universe, that he alone is the master of creation, then we share a bond. Our most sacred prayer, which we called out last Monday goes "Hear O'Israel the L-rd is G-d, the L-rd is One!". This is on my mind at all times, I don't deviate from that belief, and HIS protection covers me on my way. I am responsible for my own sins, which I ask for forgiveness from HIM, not an angel, not a so-called messiah. We Jews speak DIRECTLY TO HE WHO CREATES DAILY. The purpose of creation is CHESED, kindness... I am reading Chofetz Chaims Loving Kindness {Ahavas Chesed} and I learn. The only reason Hashem created the world was for an act of kindess, and we Jews are taught that kindness is one of the greater mitzvahs which includes Charity. Once again, I apologize if I offended you and others of your faith. We will all get along one day, when Moshiach is truely known and Hashems reign will be known by all of his creations. I pray you and yours have a long and prosperous life. Please forgive us Master, and bring about the final redemption!
22. Jeff, About names
Michael U ,   SF,CA   (10.05.06)
Jeff, We are commanded not to express the names of strange dieties. I will not spell the name of Hashem, nor will I use the names of false dieties. This is why I come up with alternative ways of saying that name. I seek to walk in the ways of the L-rd.
23. Blessed are the Peacemakers
Jill ,   Colorado   (10.05.06)
Thank You Michael U for kind words and the attempt at reconciliation. It is so hard to focus on the good when so much is so different between Jew and Gentile it seems. You are the kind if man this world needs more of, A heart after G_d and thats all we can ask of each other.
24. to #4 Or an african-American anti-semite?
jason white ,   afula,israel   (10.05.06)
25. To Michael et al
Jeff ,   Herzliya   (10.06.06)
Well, Michael, I believe you and I both agree this has gone on long enough and is getting boring for everyone. Thank you for your apology. We will not see eye to eye on this -- we each believe the other has missed a true relationship with G-d -- and I do certainly still believe that all you have to do is swap out the religion being attacked to be Jewish, and boom, it would be viewed by any reasonable person as anti-semitic. The fact that this can't be seen is, I think, sad, and it is the point of what I've been writing, NOT whether or not Yeshua is Moshiach. Others have tried to make this about theology, but not me. As to others, who have called me "sick", a "twitt", "tasteless", an "abuser" of the website for daring to write in, and (bizarrest of all!) an "african-American anti-semite" for disagreeing with you, well, that just speaks for itself. One person wondered why I would even be in Israel if I disagreed with you. It's worrisome that a group of people who have experienced so much discrimination and prejudice at the hands of others can't recognize it amongst themselves. I had a Jewish friend once say, looking at the way a U.S. professional football team's Jewish owner continued to use a mascot that was demeaning to minority group, that "we of all people should understand this." But evidently not everyone does, as this increasingly unpleasant Talkback string shows. That's all I'm writing on this subject. I believe I'm the only poster here who has consistently put my email address in my postings -- if there's something you just have to say, go ahead and write, though I'm not guaranteeing I'll respond.
26. Bravo Jeff

all attempts at adult diolgue are awesome in my book. Bless you and hang tough. This Latina in Colorado Loves Israel and G_d and we can come together little by little. If we faint not!

Although I most certainly wouldn’t advocate visiting Xian gravesites, there is a precedent when Caleb prayed at the grave of his forefathers in Hebron.
28. Michael U: Ridicule of the unknown
Truth ,   USA   (10.10.06)
is the hallmark of ignorance... Your ignorance of Torah - Tanakh is clear The "...man on a stick..." is: Y'shua, Messiah - King of the Jews. Don't believe me, study Torah - Tanakh youself. http://need-messiah.blogspot.com/ Jesus Christ was a righteous Jewish Son of Israel, whom any Jew could be amazingly proud ... only by studying this for yourself can you ever know if it is true or not. Christ - ianity is the largest religion in the world 2.1 billion adherents thanks to "that Jew" "Jesus Christ, the Greatest Jew ever…" Albert Einstein Far greater minds and Jews than you recognized the greatness of this Son of King David. http://need-messiah.blogspot.com/
29. To "Truth" #28
Emily ,   Calif   (10.11.06)
I am a Christian, but I think it is very wrong of you to be doing your proseltyzing here. Throughout history, Jews have suffered at the hands of those who called themselves Christian. Christians have heaped so much shame on the name of Jesus that I think it's somewhat amazing that any Jew is even willing to talk to us. I'm afraid, Mr/Ms. Truth, that when you post things like this, it sounds more like you are browbeating people instead of having a respectful discussion. We Christians should be building bridges and offering unconditional love and not be trying to win an argument.
30. #1 Michael = words of a true and wise jew. Thank you Michael
