1. Sharonistas
Alex ,   LA, USA   (10.07.06)
"Sharon had to make a tragic choice between what he thought was very bad for Israel but good for himself and his family, and between what's good for Israel and bad for Sharon and his family." Now Sharon is almost dead, his son is going to jail (unless he will became proponent of "disengagement' from something), and his other son will also end up in jail.
2. Sharon and his sons must pay for what they did to Gaza .
Yaacov ,   Ashkelon   (10.07.06)
The crime against the Jewish families of Gaza must be paid for by Sharon and his sons. Sharon served Israel for decades, but his service does not justify what he did to Gaza to protect his sons. His sons must also be made to pay dearly.
3. after coup math adds up to suicide
Ben Temalion ,   Shiloh, MO USA   (10.07.06)
You still do not have a government that was elected. You did not vote for the ill wind of kadima rebels. You voted for Likud whose platform wasbetrayed by the traitor, sick mind and unbound heart of the arelim Sharon. He implemented the oppositions charter in defiance of the elected party, the referendum of his party he swore to uphold. And all along the government explained that the pogrom waspart of a democratic process. Instead of expelling those who come to kill you, you destroy the lives who defend you, who love the land that defends you. The land that belongs to all of you past, present and future and that no one can be a broker for. The land you won in aggressive wars against you that continue and that was legally allocated to you by law and neverto the other. The other never legally held your land and should have their right of return enforced to the homicidal Hamite peninsular homeland of their own name. Rabin and Faisal were right in their support for transfer. The other transfered you. Return the favor and quit commiting suicide by hating yourself.
4. More than this ...
sk ,   USA   (10.07.06)
The Disengagement/Expulsion/Pogrom also no doubt seriously damaged the morale of the IDF, which was also damaged further by comments about a win in Lebanon facilitating "Convergence." But Disengagement was only the latest in a series of efforts to give land to the enemy that began almost the moment Israel conquered land in '67 that should have been -- and officially was -- part of Israel at the time of the War of Independence. Some speculate that the point of such land giveaways has been to undermine Jewish feeling and enhance "Israeli" feeling by keeping Jews from religiously significant lands. I don't know. But there is no doubt that the HISTORIC failure of Israel to annex and settle all land throughout the Israel of the Mandate borders (which includes Yesha) has created a vacuum that drew the Arab enemy right next door. Absolutely every problem of modern-day Israel derives in some way from this decades-long and ever-worsening worsening error.
5. there were never any problems before ...
Bruno ,   Haifa   (10.07.06)
What nonsense - what a rewriting of history. Israel has had to deal with an absurdly high level of road accidents, terror, regional instability, the Arab Boycott, intifadas, wars, political corruption, and so on and so on, for years - none of this started with the pullout from Gaza. How convenient to hang everything on this. We were right to pull out, and will be right to continue doing so. Israel's poor decision-making and poor performance in the recent war are a result of hubris, arrogance and bad planning. If we hadn't puuled out of Gaza does anyone seriously think the hubris of Olmert and Halutz would have been any different, or that somehow, the Army stores of medical supplies would have been better managed? really!
6. Chief Rabbi supports expulsion
Monk ,   USA   (10.07.06)
It was reported last year: "Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu, one of most strident disengagement opponents, tells Orthodox paper settlers should leave quietly, residents should leave their homes quietly and called on IDF soldiers not to refuse orders to evacuate settlements." If men of G-d say "expel, only do it with tears in your eyes," what are we coming to? Where were our rabbis in the summer of 2005? How many rabbis spoke out against this evil? Where are our men of G-d today?
7. THIS ARTICLE IS AN INSULT TO ISRAELIS' INTELLIGENCE

8. The disengagement made Israel look weak to theArabterrorists
Daisy ,   USA   (10.08.06)
The pullout was a victory to the Arab terrorist groups. It made them think that Israel will retreat whenever the circumstances become too difficult. They were right.
9. I never Understood
Johnny Weintraub ,   Sugar Land, Texas US   (10.08.06)
A number of years ago, I met General Ariel Sharon in person, and I have always admired and respected him; that is, prior to August of 2005. I am beginning to catch on to why the eviction of ten thousand people from Gush Katif occurred, and it was not for peace.
10. crime and punishment
Bachrach Andres ,   Kfarsaba il   (10.08.06)
All of you, lamenting about the so called expulsion, and wishing God punishment on the jewish Israel,I want to tell that your endless complaining won't help you.All your wishful lieing about israel loosing his wars is nothing but your wish to besmirch the I.D.F.Israel won all his wars.Israel won this second libanon war also, becouse this time we demonstrated to all our enemies that the time when they could kill and rob defenceless jews unpun -ished is over!!!! Andi hakfarsabai.
11. men of G-d?
Yisraeli   (10.08.06)
To the one that asks about the rabbis and so called men of God. I will tell you and something that is not commonly known. Know this that the time preceeding the redemption many so called rabbis will be rabbis of the Erev Rav who dont have Eretz Yisraeel in theyre hearts or souls. And this has been proven true. Be very careful on which rabbi one can rely on. Research it for yourself if you wish theres a good treatise on the Erev Rav on thirtysix.org. There is no doubt on my mind that the last year has not only come about due to the expulsion of Jews and not because of diverted resources but as direct punishment from higher powers on Israel for doing it in the first place and I am not convinced our days of punishment for that abhorrent deed is over. Oh and I am a secular Jew and believe this. And to Bruno Haifa, I would say hes right re things only bad from that evil deed he advocates. Of course it goes back to Oslo but I would go even further back to Moshe Dayan in '67. MD is just a mirror of the rest in power at that time. For the first time in history after almost 2000 yrs Jews finally liberated theyre holiest spot the Temple Mount. And when the waqf offered up the keys MD turned it down on behalf of the State. They 'didnt' want it. So as a result in my view an 'arbaiim shanah b'midbar' took place translated 'forty years in the wilderness'. That generation has to die off for what they did. The good news is that the forty years is almost up I just hope the clock wasnt reset another 40 for Gush Katif. But it wouldnt suprise me if it did. A people that brought about the expulsion and are able to vote in the likes of Kadimah are not ready for anything better. just more shite. Though I pray that Am Yisrael wake up to themselves and reverse that timeclock. But I fear the likes of Bruno from Haifa are still many and are not ready for introspection. Chag Sameach Am Yisrael.
12. Reasons For Security Downslide
Adina Kutnicki ,   US   (10.08.06)
The expulsion had many awful ramifications. In a nutshell it showed the most loyal citizens of the country that the regime spits on them, and that part of the country demonizes them. It also showed the Arabs that the regime will do anything-even destroy the lives of their own people-for the 'hope' of a little peace and quiet, and many other negative reasons. Further, it poisoned the hearts of many soldiers who took part in it. They are ashamed, guilt ridden and damaged from it. The psychological guilt and military neglect of their real missions-fighting the enemy-has brought about the most awful year in Israel's national security since 1948.
13. Rabbi true value
to #6 Monk ,   the reality, rabbis   (10.07.06)
The reality of rabbis is One Most rabbis of today, think of themselves as Moses all they say all they do is by Devine guidance and right Two They and only they know what GOD wants, all others that do not adhere to GOD commands as espoused by them are just being blasphemous But the truth is, and it is true consolation to the dilemma they cause by their proclamations they all go the way of all living things and by their death all their knowledge is buried with them and have nothing to say thereafter and all they have wrought with time will be forgotten

19. 15: Painful events came only after Israel started to exist..
(10.08.06)
That's why this article is an insult to our intelligence. As if Israel never endured painful events before. We didn't cede land to please our enemies, but to please ourselves.
20. One must differenciate between land to keep & land to cede
European Jew ,   in Israel   (10.08.06)
YES, giving up land to the counterpart may have encouraged terrorist movements and to make them look victorious. And this was without no doubt foreseen by our leaders. YES terrorists might think we will give up any land in which circumstances are too difficult. IF THEY THINK THAT, LET THEM THINK THAT. We NEVERTHELESS thing the Gaza strip was NOT WORTH the allocation of army & security resources while jeopardizing the rest of Israel. While the Gaza strip has voluntarily been giving up, there will never be ANY economies of resources in case of threats to Israel's existence.
21. 20. The expense of maintaining buffers
Truth ,   USA   (10.08.06)
Ceding the land 1. Brought rockets 2. Entrenched enemy 3. Tunnels 4. Lebanon war 5. Anti-Israel UNIFIL at Israel's borders with authority to militarily engage Israel http://bless-israel.blogspot.com/ 6. Anti-Israel Muslim Checyen terrorists from Russia at Israel's south border http://www.debka.com/headline.php?hid=3354 7. As further emboldened Iran-Syria prepare for war due to items 1 thru 6 http://www.debka.com/headline.php?hid=3357 Israel is now facing its greatest existential threat since 1948 by ceding land. Israel's enemies have been clear. If they could not take Israel outright militarily, they would: a) whittle Israel down to indefensible borders b) instigate world, economic, political and media hostility against Israel through gross deception, propaganda, misrepresentation and slander http://tongue-slayers.blogspot.com/ So what expense? What "insignificance" ? Fortunately, God is for Israel eternally. Israel's Land http://www.internationalwallofprayer.org/A-283-Israels-Right-to-the-Land.html
22. Root causes
Sharon ,   Golan   (10.08.06)
Why stop at the disengagement? Israel has been ruled by the spin guys since Oslo. If we are going to clean house, that is the place to start. If we are going to improve the future, start by restoring freedom of speech and association, and equality under the law.
23. gaza hamas
mendel   (10.08.06)
the worst mistake was to naivally allow democratic elections in a populace educated on the insult of disspossesion rather than the dire jewish need for sanctuary . the islamic world should have rescued the jews being so superior in mercy and love .they rather blocked rescue and our matyrs must be sanctified hopefully by arab atonement and peace .
