Wonderful to see the united front against N. Korea and the divided front against Iran. Vis a vis Iran the security council and others are still talking about talks but there is universal condemnation of N. Korea. China wants Iranian oil and Russia wants to make money out of Iran. France as always is happy to prostitute itself to the highest bidder. One can perhaps wonder if the answer regarding Iran lies in Russia supplying China with oil or something similar ?
2. Hypocracy shining bright in Israel

Nuclear weapons can't be controlled by saying, in effect, "Do as we say, not as we do." By developing their own nuclear weaponry, one nation after another has replied to the nuclear-armed states including Israel " Whatever you say, we'll do as you've done." If you are worried about nuclear weapons start in your own backyard!
3. China and Russia Not Care - They just want the Money
Paul ,   SEattle, WA, USA   (10.10.06)
China and Russia needs to quit playing their games. Russia sells anything to the highest bidder even nuclear material. China wants to be a world leader, but does not want the responsibity that goes along with it. China made the North Korea that it is today. Hell with their games. The USA needs to support Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan in their bids to go nuclear to protect their countries. Maybe then China and Russia will wake up to reality. There are somethings that the dollar can never buy.
4. But What Meaningful Sanctions Can Be Imposed?
emanon ,   USA   (10.10.06)
Think about it. They are not a major export partner to a major world power, so treatening to not buy theor goods is meaningless. The are not a major importer from any major power, so again, th erthreat is meaningless. They are not a major oil producer or consumer, so petroleum based threats are pointless. Throw then out of the UN? North Korea already thuimbs its nose at that august body and we all know how effective the UN is anyway. No, sanctions won't work. If anyhthing I see a new alliance on the horizon. An alliance between other states with a similar mindset. Like a partnership between Iran and North Korea. Think about it . . . Iran cuts an oil deal with North Korea in exchange for help with nuclear technology. There's a major stmbling bolck there though: religion. North Korea has none and Iran will try to convert the North Koreans. North Koreans have a reputation for being one of the most insular peoples in the world. Could be interesting!
