1. OK sukkot is over in 30 days, but this has to be fought....
Andy   (10.11.06)
ITS A SUKAH ON SUKKOT!!! What doesn't the municipality understand about that? Next, Hannukah candles in Tel Aviv windows will be extinguished by the fire department as illegal cumbustion. Get the best lawyer and have this odious order rescinded! Doesn't the city have real problems to worry about?
2. WOW
gabriela ben ari   (10.11.06)
I haven't got a municipal permit for my succah either ! Does anyone in the country has one ?!! I hope whoever issued that order be prosecuted till the end. Beyond words
3. Back in the USSR
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (10.11.06)
In the old USSR the Jews were given 8 days to pull down their sukkah.
4. Andy - your assuption is correct
gabriela ben ari ,   jerusalem   (10.11.06)
a few years ago, in the Gush Dan region a hareidi/religious family was denied lightning hannucah candles on the stair room of the building by some abnoxious anti religious woman in the building. She claimed the fry smell from the oil was unbecoming to her. B'H the family filed back a complaint and won the case.
5. Nicotine addiction will do the job...
Lior ,   London   (10.11.06)
OK, so here goes for incitement of a criminal act... Identify those members of the Municpality instrumental in making this ridiculous ruling who smoke, lock them up in the sukkah and when, inevitably, the desire to feed their habit overtakes their concerns for health and safety and they light up, they and the sukkah will be no more... they won't be there next year to put even a lulav let alone a spanner in the works and - hey presto! - the mitzvah can be repeated and the whole world, let alone Tel Aviv, will be all the better for the lack of several dull of mind pen pixies who are so far up themselves they can only hear an echo.
6. The Kabbalah Center is a disgusting Cult
Johnny ,   Miami   (10.11.06)
For once Tel Aviv did right. There is a reason the city won't prosecute Chabad or normal Jews but they will go after these money-grubbing liars. And for those of you worried about Jewish life in Tel Aviv, realize that virtually every halachic authority who has commented on the subject has condemned the Kabblah Center. As an example of its depravity, it famously sold tap water for thousands of dollars (the last of her savings) to a terminally ill cancer patient by claiming it would cure her. She has since passed on.
7. Excellent, Johnny!
Paul ,   Austin, TX USA   (10.11.06)
They should be taxed into oblivion and shunned by all Jews. The so-called "Kabbalah" cult is run by thieving, soul-soliciting, whores.
8. Political Rabbi Barogus
Josh   (10.11.06)
The Rabbi powers that be, don't like the kabbalah center taking over their majic book and selling it to the likes of Madonna and Brittney.
9. #6 if so
gabriela ben ari   (10.11.06)
they should look into the centre itself. Ordering their succah down acheived just the opposite What's the name of the place plz??
10. sukkah on roof?
anonymous   (10.11.06)
that sounds dangerous
11. same thing happend to me
ariel ,   jerusalem   (10.11.06)
in my school in adelphia, new jersey, they put up a sukkah but some anti semites next door called the inspector and they got a court order to tear it down in 30 days or recive a fine when our rabbi heard what the judge had said, he just laughed it been a good story ever since but in any event i finally see how the left in israel have literally turn into anti-semites. taking a page right out of their book. whats next no circumcision?
12. #6 Are you so sure?
Josh   (10.12.06)
According to Devarim (Deut) you are supposed to give G-d a new prayer and if I am not mistaken, Mosses had a speech impediment, so what are these specially constructed prayers and linguistic cantations, and why do the Rabbis condone Kabala when even in rabbinic history it has been declared magic. You don't see them changing on issues such as a kid boiled in its mother’s milk relating to a cold chicken sandwich. Why only on Kabala? Maybe all religions have some self-motivations and maybe people should hop off of the religious train and explore self evident truths. There is still one love one G-d.
13. Kabbalah is the only way
Mike ,   New York   (10.12.06)
The Kabbalah Center is the only organization to truly help humanity, if you have issues with this group you are simply avoiding your responsibility to remove lack from your life. Get outta your selfish mind and do something positive with your life. Sukkot is a holiday for the whole world to celebrate. look into the true meaning of this holiday and you will see that its all about sharing.
14. Kabbalah Sukkah
Yitzhak ,   Jerusalem,Israel   (10.12.06)
Kabbalah should have a warning label. The light is intense and it is not good to conect to it in a impure way. It is a shame about the Sukkah but with the City or the Light you must obey the rules. I have learned this first hand.
15. Self-hating Jews at Work
Richard R. ,   New Brunswick, NJ US   (10.12.06)
This ban on a Sukkah on Sukkot is a ban in a Jewish municipality on a Jewish ritual structure (ok, the Kabbalah cult, which isn't really Jewish, but still...) on a Jewish holiday, and is utterly ridiculous. As for the Kabbalah-cultists, they may be money-grubbing liars, but at least they have some coherent religiosity and aren't harming anyone with their Sukkah, so they ought to be left alone, not pounced upon by a self-hating Jewish council chamber.
16. sukkah
Joe ,   Ohio, USA   (10.13.06)
I hate to appear ignorant. But as a American of non Jewish origin I see the word sukkah often. Would someone be so kind as to explain to me just what one is and why it is important.

hypotheticaly, what if they converted another 10 million people to judaism.wouldnt that ultimately be a positive thing?sure the first generation may be questionable but subsequent may yield the next moshiach? We sure can use more numbers.
