1. Seven years for each conviction?
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (10.16.06)
Don't count on it. Remember the "Polite Rapist?" His original conviction for 10 counts of rape was for 30 years, and he wound up serving only 10, as Prez Herzog pardoned him when he found God and became a born again Jew.
2. immoral behavior
David ,   Gush Etzion   (10.16.06)
According to suzie navot"s suggestion most of our judges, knesset members and other leaders should leave their positions of power.Because this country is run by immoral and irreresponsible people, with nepotism widly accepeted.Selfinterested, lust for power and money are the only real motivators for most of these people to be were they are.As you can see any suggestion of changing the system will be stopped,so our esteemed leaders can keep on dancing around our pot of gold and living the good life.Poverty,an army in shambles, crime that pays and a corrupt leadership, you could say that we are not exactly a light among nations.Mostly we can only blame ourselves and our apathy to let this happen,we do not stand up and say enough is enough.Even writing this is not making a chance only massive demonstrations and bringing this country to a halt, like in some countries, will bring a chance.Right now we live in a third world banana republic.
3. Chillul Hashem
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (10.16.06)
Whenever a Jew commits a crime, it is bad. When a prominent Jew commits a crime, particularly one as serious as what Mr. Katsav is accused of, it is also a Chillul Hashem - a desecration of the Name of Heaven. It makes us Jews look immoral in the eyes of the world and disgraces the holiness of the Jewish people. But, in the G-dless State of Israel this concept is hardly understood. It is surely not part of our public's consciousness nor is ethical behavior a criteria for electing our public officials. Look, even a former Prime Minister admitted committing adultery a few years back and he is still the head of a major political party. How could that be? The miserable political system which the short-sighted founders of the State instituted which we have inherited and can't seem to rid ourselves of enables corrupt and immoral people to rise to the top and hide from punishment by virtue of their exalted positions. Mr. Katsav should remember that whether he is guilty or innocent, at this point, his primary concern is to do what will give honor and respect to the name of the Jewish People and G-d.
4. Statute of limitations?
sk ,   USA   (10.16.06)
So I hear that the statute of limitations has already passed. If so, Katsav doesn't even need a lawyer. Will our legal expert care to comment on this? I guess Dr. Suzie is too busy getting her makeup done.
5. Seriously cant you take her seriously with that makeup
J'taime NOT ,   Canada   (10.16.06)
Here's one for you. Get a hairdo and a makeover. Geez what misekeit....
