Of course resistance is legitimate against oppression and ocupation. I wonder if someone reasonable can deny this fact. Now the choice of resistance is crucial. Resistance can take different forms. It can be military i.e. violent (like americans vs British) , or may even be peaceful (Ghandi). What's most important is to be pragmatic, and see which type of resistance helps you better reach your objectives. Military resistance is not immoral, it gets immoral only when it specifically targets civilians. Occupiers view any resistance as illegitimate, irrespective of its form.

For years I've been critical of Europeans, for allowing Moslem leaders in their countries to endorse suicide bombers. If they tolerate it happening in Israel, it will one day spread to Europe. Now Israel is tolerating it...

But just now I watched the evening news and there was Hanieh refusing to accept a two-state solution, despite such pleads from Qatar. About the King David hotel bombing - yes, it was criminal. However, it was aimed at British military installations. A warning message was delivered to the hotel phone operator and to the French Consulate. Arab kitchen staff were told to get out of the hotel. Most people refuse to recognize attacking present day IDF troops as terrorism. And that was one attack. How many terrorist acts have been perpetrated against unsuspecting civilians (of all denominations) in Israel and abroad?

I wish that the case here would have been resistance against oppression and occupation. I wish that the objective of the "resistance" was freedom or independence or statehood - or anything sane. But it's not. It's a brutal war of terrorist gangs against a state with the sole purpose of destroying this state and genociding the population. According to Rabbi Stern, in the weeks that preceded the holiday, there was a marked rise in Islamic incitement of the Arabs in the neighborhood. As the students fought their way to their yeshiva and holed up in their study hall, the Arabs surrounded the building and refused to leave. The police seized the soldier's rifle and interrogated him for several hours before releasing him - without his weapon - to military police for further investigation. RATHER THAN arrest the Arabs outside the yeshiva who were threatening further violence, or force them to disperse, the police demanded that the students leave the building through a back exit with police escort...
