7. Abbas "threatens" referendum
gabriela ben ari ,   jerusalem   (10.18.06)
well i guess a referendum constitutes a threat in a dictatorship - too sad arabs are not helping themselves, the only thing that keeps their political apparatus running is their hate for the Jewish nation How comes they do not even desire some peace amongst themselves at least ? And if a sizable number of residents do look for self improvement why dont they voice their wishes ?
8. Hamas learning wrong lessons from Hezbollah
Israeli Arab ,   Haifa   (10.18.06)
Apparently Hamas government misunderstood the recent Israeli-Hezbollah war as a sign that they need to emulate Hezbollah's tactics to achieve their goals. It has been widely reported that Hezbollah and Iran have smuggled advanced anti-tank missiles and Katyusha rockets en mass to Gaza for future use against the IDF. The scenario is already planned to be executed by Hamas at the time of their choosing. Hamas will kidnap or kill several Israeli soldiers or civilians prompting IDF response. Then Hamas will rocket major Israeli cities including Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, just like Hezbollah causing massive damage and civilian casualties. Israel will be forced to respond more aggressively targeting Hamas facilities which are placed intentionally in densely populated Gaza neighborhoods. Try as IDF may but there will be civilian casualties in Gaza, staged and filmed conveniently by local "independent" reporters. The images will be exploited to blame Israel for "disproportionate response." As IDF troops are forced to go into Gaza to root out Hamas leaders hiding in bunkers and tunnels the internationally community will demand cease-fire and the Arab League and France will blame Israel for starting the hostility in the first place. However, Hamas has miscalculated the lessons IDF and Israel's leadership has learned from Lebanon - the IDF will not watch idly as Hamas uses Israel's withdrawal from Gaza to turn it into Southern Lebanon. It will not take 6 years for IDF to act overwhelmingly before Hamas decides on the orders from Damascus and Tehran to attack Israel. Hamas is no Hezbollah neither organizationally nor militarily. Hezbollah took a serious military drubbing by IDF, though they claim differently. Hamas will bring nothing but defeat and more suffering to the Palestinian people. They are forsaking any chance of real progress and peace to serve their Iranian and Syrian masters.

I have mentioned on these posts for a long time that Hamas did NOT want to stop the hostilities. HAMAS got elected on the basis of false promises that poorly educated Palestinian people believed in these days. HAMAS provokes the P.A in the hope that indeed, referendum will be called and that HAMAS will get out of the referendum the "only winner". Unfortuntately , there are several aspects of the existing situation which will lead HANNIYEH to total failure and possibly bring PA controlled territories to total chaos ( if this is not already achieved that is ) . -To manage a country , one needs political education and sense of reality. HAMAS has none -In ANY country there can be only ONE authority which includes all the security forces. Guerillas of all kind cannot be tolerated. -ANYTIME religion will be a pre-conditional aspect of any government, chaos will be there with all its attributes ( economy pointing down to zero, suspicion from international community, hatred, sanitary and educational problems ( tell me of one Islamic country which combines real democracy, economic growth and international recognition besides SOME of the UAE countries that is : there are none ! Should HAMAS accept a deal with PA , this would be the end of the justification for terror. Additionally, since HAMAS is aligned with the nazis from Teheran, there is no surprise that HANNIYEH can only act according to His Master's Voice. The arrogant HANNIYEH does not speak too much with his own people ! If he did, he would surely know that his course of action is not appreciated by everyone......including in his own security forces. I guess HANNIYEH will be in for a big surprise pretty soon. He is now sitting on a keg of powder and the wick is getting shorter by the day . Organized and state sponsored violence has never led any country to "win" international recognition. In their race for power , the dictators of HAMAS have wasted the credit that they could have got right after the elections. Everyone knows and understand now what HAMAS and the bunch of puppets composing its so called " Government " represents : no one but themselves , a bunch of professional agitators geared at creating trouble, abusing their own people, and fully limited in their vision of the future due to the collective obsurantism which is a part of the Islamist approach in all the fundamentalist Moslem countries as demonstrated by events in the last 25 years !
13. What's the point?
Israel   (10.18.06)
Mahmoud Abbas can disolve the current government, e.g., Ham-ass and then what? There is no party to vote in that wants peace with us. They are all a bunch of terrorists.
14. if war broke out between hamas what will be the fate of
fadi ,   lebanon   (10.18.06)
shalit !!?? anyone of the smart israeli government who are pushing them into war thought of that ??

Fadi, why don't you think of it as a two-way street? We have thousands of Palestinian prisioners in our prisons. You see, you KNOW that even though the people who took our boy are capable of hurting him, deep down you know that Israelis have a heart and would not harm prisioners. What's the difference?
