31. Reform = repackaged Christian?
Josh   (10.18.06)
When I first inquired about converting to Juadism I went to a reform temple. The Rabbi was an ex-priest and their Torah actually contained quotes from Jesus. He actually confided in me that he did not believe G-d gave torah. I never met a less spiritual group in my life. They sold the same concepts of Christianity as if they were Jewish. Concepts that can be directly counterdicted following Torah. Worse they change up wording to include a more feminen side of G-d. No wonder an organization that seeks to undermine the following of Torah as it was given, would be extending kindness to the enemy. Pal will likley smile turn and mumble "sucker" to themselves. Where in G-d's Toarh does it say its ok to be friends with Jewish enemies. This is only similar to the story in the new testament of eating with publicans. Even G-d blesses those who bless you and curses those who curse you. The reform movement has too many Rabbis sweeping the steps of other religions. Clean your own house and stop rebuilding churches for people who think Jews have horns and taking food to people who think Jews should be anihalated. Open your eyes G-Gamor!!!
32. Happy well adjusted Pals
JP   (10.18.06)
You have shown the Jewish world how kind you are to people..but what about G-d? In the days of the golden calf, I wonder what side of the line the Refom Rabbis would have been on.
33. JUST READ # 26 !!!!!! NO TO AMALEK ! NOOOO !
Eli   (10.18.06)
...... POST # 26 ANSWER YOU ALL THAT # 26 .... IS AMALEK ANSWER TO REFORM JEWS ! ! ! ! ! .................. NOOOOOOO TO AMALEK ! ! !
34. TO # 30 EDAN , ISRAEL ; READ POST # 26 !!!!!!!
Eli   (10.18.06)
NO ,TO AMALEK ! & TO YOU EDAN , ISRAEL ---- YOU DESERVED THAT FROM # 26 ! HA HAAA HA !
35. reform from what?
Ben Temalion ,   Shiloh, MO USA   (10.18.06)
Blease let us feed, arm and train you to kill us for we are a horrible people. We create replacement religions and temples. Blease kill and convert us for not reforming from our ways more quickly. It is your only way as you have always treated us.. I know, they have the spark but they might as well not and worse. They care nothing for Jewish values and do everything to circumvent them by serving homicidal Hamites from a peninsular homeland by their own name.
36. Reform just hoping to be killed after real Jews.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Santa Monica,CA USA   (10.18.06)
37. To Fadi #29
EM ,   Ra'anana   (10.18.06)
These good people ARE the majority in Israel. And there are many more examples of Arab helping Jew and vice versa. Don't let the ridiculous talkbackers mislead.
38. follow me on this...
prankman ,   il   (10.18.06)
100 shekel package = 43 bucks 100/4.256= 23.50 are you throwing in 2 gift pacs..or is the math just wrong.
39. If only this spirit could prevail!
One-of-them ,   Palestine   (10.18.06)
I am not very familiar with who "reform jews" are, but there is no religion that does not encourage kindness to others, espacially if the intentions were pure. I, for one, applaud the act of these guys. I read many talk backs here saying that this act of kindness is in vain and that Muslims are not worth the gesture. I dont agree. There has been times in history when Muslims were also very kind to their jewish neighbors. History books tell us of stories when jews used to flee the opression in dark-ages Europe and live peacefully under the Arab rule in "Andalus", Spain today. In fact, till this very day, Arab jews live among Arabs Muslims in Nablus in the West Bank and get all the respect worthy of a good neighbor. The other side of the story is that Muslims react very strongly when they feel they are being treated un-justly. As a Muslim, I know that. It does not justify the acts by people like Bin Laden, but at least I have to say that many nations in this world were not much nicer when they were threatened or attacked (take WWI and WWII as examples). Any way, I dont want to get into the "global terrorism" story because that is a loong conversation. I just want to say to these reform jews that I wish the kind spirit was to prevail among everyone (as all religions decreed). Chances for world peace would be much better then.
40. Reform Jews are the worst of the worst
(10.18.06)
41. It's the right thing to do.
Talula ,   Israel   (10.18.06)
Regardless of what goes on in our troubled country. It's terribly sad when, at the end of a holiday, people cannot celebrate. It's a great feeling to know you have truly helped someone. Well done to them.
42. Most of you here are IDIOTIC JERKS
Michael Steiner   (10.18.06)
So much cynicism and hatred, and all these people wanted to do was help make some people's holiday a bit happier and brighter. And I bet NONE of you crapping here about "Amalek" or Muslim reciprocation did jack squat over yamim hanoraim this year to help anyone. You're pathetic. Barukh hashem most of you live in the States. Please stay there: I'm making aliyah soon and won't want turd like you polluting eretz hakodesh.
43. Stupid Jews. Most Muslims will always hate you.
Daisy ,   USA   (10.18.06)
Because you exist. Help your own people and forget about helping your enemies.
44. Steiner; Make "aliyah" to Saudi Arabia.
Daisy ,   USA   (10.18.06)
That is where your people are from. No one believes your Jewish.
45. Reformed Jews?
Avraham ,   Netivot   (10.18.06)
How do you know they are really Jewish? A true Jew doesn't give sustenence to his enemy who has sworen to wipe him & his children off of the map. Let them use their money for food instead of weapons.
46. #39 If only Arabs/Muslims realized
Zvi ,   USA   (10.18.06)
Historically, this kind of generosity *is* fairly typical behavior for Jews toward people around us who do not insist on attacking us, and even, to a lesser extent, toward people who do. If generosity of spirit is reciprocated, it grows. If it is met with violence, or with the blind hatred and hostility of idiots (see #26), it simply turns to anger and bitterness. #26 you are a moron; these are simply generous people. They have not stolen anything, and they have not murdered anyone. They are acting on their belief that despite the grievances us, Muslims are human beings. I'll wager that you have never reached out to Jewish people in need. Until you have done so, don't mock Jewish people who, despite your hatred for them, prove to be more than you are.
47. Good Deed will Only Encourage Them
M. Duvduvani ,   Yokneam, Israel   (10.18.06)
These are good foolish people with big hearts, but it won't help to change any atmosphere between us and them. Over 50% of E. Jerusalemites support Hamas so if these foolish people think that sending some canned peas will change their minds they are quite stupid. It will do the opposite. The Hamas supporting E. Jerusalemites will laugh at how the Jews fall over backwards to help poor Palestinians in their struggle against the Jews. They will actually think the Reform Jews support the Palestinian struggle to destroy Israel .
48. #42 Michael Steiner has got it right.
Yonatan ,   NYC   (10.18.06)
kol hakavod to you achi. i'll be in israel in december and am definitely considering making aliyah once i finish school. extreme right wing chulnikim who play armchair general and have never even lived in ha'aretz really cannot be taken seriously. and daisy, please keep your messianic christian views to yourself. i don't think it's very appropriate to call them "stupid jews." you probably wouldn't feel so good if i started calling you a "stupid christian." we know who are enemies are, we don't need people like you to tell us. i support fighting terror in any way shape or form, but there is nothing wrong with giving poor palestinian families who are celebrating the holidays food to eat.
49. #42 Michael Steiner, a true European
Tami   (10.18.06)
Never misses an opportunity to bash Americans. Get ready Israel we have a real winner moving in! And this one talks like he owns the place.
50. Not charity, but arrogance
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (10.18.06)
Pure arrogance, for the following reasons: 1. Thinking the Muslims can be "bought off" by a meager contribution, which they consider "humiliating." 2. Notifying YNet and the rest of the media for a big photo op. True charity is always given "b'seter" in order not to shame the recipient. 3. Following it up with a big attack against religious Jews ("Look at us! Look at how much better we are! We love our enemies! We are just so righteous!") 4. Why are they not helping poor Gays and Lesbians, poor illegal sex workers and the traumatized alleged victims of President Katsav? There's plenty of photo ops and self-righteous boasting there.
51. What more do we expect from Reform goyim?
Moshe ,   Jerusalem   (10.18.06)
Next they will be praying in mosques, observing Ramadan, and feeding suicide bombers. We need Reform goyim like we need cult prostitutes on the Temple Mount. R-r-r-r-r-ubishhhhhh!
52. #15 Linda: You have a like-minded brother in Israel
Yaacov ,   Ashkelon   (10.18.06)
I have read many of your posts and agree whole heartedly with your views. Let me know if you would like my email address so we can support each others' views. Yaacov
53. #42 Michael: Neat trick to get email addresses
Mahmoud ,   Jerusalem   (10.18.06)
Putting your email address in your post is a good trick to get Jews to email you so you can get their email addresses for you mailing list business. If I did not know better, I would say you were a sharp Arab businessman tricking the stupid Jews into sending you their email addresses so you can re-sell them to marketing companies.
54. Wilfull ignorance...
Lior ,   London   (10.18.06)
One of the distinguishing facets of Liberal Judaism in Britain is an ambivalence toward Israel that is culturally deep-rooted and manifests itself easily in siding with the liberal/left agenda which is increasingly shrill in its condemnations of Israel and, in conflating Israel with Judaism, is now responsible for increasing anti-Semitism. Liberal Judaism has a fetishistic, knee-jerk, gut reaction to anything Arab or Moslem. It is, with the innocence of the urban, semi-educated, self-styled elite who judge from relative ignorance from the safety of their armchairs, to blame Jews and Israel (thus, again, conflating the Jewish State and Judaism) for every woe that befalls the so-called "Palestinians", Arabs in general, and Moslems worldwide. The emphasis placed on tsedekah in the Progressive camp is well-known and not to be decried. However, the leader of Liberal Judaism, Danny Rich, listed in a methinks-he-doth-protest-too-much letter to the Jewish Chronicle the Israeli charities to which his organization was contributing during this summer's war but failed to add that Liberal Jews were also praying for the State of Israel - their customary liturgical prayers for Israel giving equal wording and presumably equal moral equivalence to "Palestine" and "Palestinians". It is clear that like Chairman Mao who offered a bowl of rice and a decent funeral but desparaged the religious, Liberal Jews regard themselves as having the answers to all the world's ills and if only we were all as enlightened as they, the world would be a better place in which to live... resulting in a socio-politically driven Messianism that is right-on, ideologically sound and smug in the extreme - and at the expense of Jews everywhere and most particularly Israel. Reform are at it again in Israel. They can't help themselves. Hard-wired to regard social activism as the be all and end all of Judaism, they are like dogs chewing on a politically correct bone (presumably vegan - does lettuce have bones?). Because of their wilfull ignorance, they don't know that in every military action in the Gaza, the IDF follows in convoys with food, water and basic staples, the Israeli tax-payer shelling out and coughing up in state-appointed and government-approved tsedekah to keep these "Palestinians" alive - despite the billions of dollars' worth of aid given by the US and Europe that is embezzled and siphoned off into the coffers of the corrupt "Palestinian" leadership. They gnaw away at the Jewish State in disapproval of government corruption, intentionally ignoring the endemic corruption of the European Union. And they prostrate themselves before an ever-increasingly demanding Islamic lobby that has been infiltrated by Islamo-facists and which has no intention of reciprocity of tolerance toward its host societies. Such is their ignorance of Israel - one rabbi had not even heard of my name... how do you manage that? - and contemporary Israeli society, that they have fallen victim to the dictates of the Left and think themselves the only inclusive people, the only practitioners of tsedekah and that theirs is the only informed opinion but in doing so, clearly demonstrate themselves to be the useful idiots of political correctness. They then complain that the Israeli Orthodox rabbinate and government unjustifiably refuse to acknowledge their status and cannot work out in their indoctrinated heads that if they act politically at the expense of religion, they will be seen as political and not religious and that Israel will remain an Orthodox country until such time as Progressive Judaism starts acting like a religious and not leftwing political institution. How I tire of their political posturings. There is nothing wrong with feeding the poor of any race or religion out of purely religious motivation. That is a mitzvah. To do so out of a political motivation will only be seen as a slap in the face to the majority of the world's Jews and the Jewish state.
55. 43 & 44 - Caustic Mouth Daisy
Talula ,   Israel   (10.18.06)
It's public knowledge that most Americans wouldn't piss on a stranger if they were on fire, however, things are a little different in Israel. What's your problem? Do you think that Israelis should sit on the side and watch while some Arab families cannot celebrate the end of a month long holiday? No, sorry, that's not the case. Aside from what goes on in our country, there ARE people, religious and secular that feel it's good to help others, Jews and Arabs like. It's people like you, Miss Caustic Mouth Daisy, that give us Israelis a bad name. Maybe you should try and help someone, try it on for size, you never know, you may even enjoy the experience.
56. #42 Steiner
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (10.18.06)
How many hungry Jews did you feed this holiday season, other than your own face? How much tzedaka do you contribute on a regular basis, not counting donations to groups designated as terrorist organizations. My guess is: NOTHING.
57. Unmitigated hypocrisy
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (10.18.06)
Here is a reform rabbi in Israel urging his followers to withhold donations for all organizations where Orthodox impoverished might be the beneficiaries: http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1159193455089&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull What he doesn't realize is that whenever a reform leader makes these kind of threats, contributions to Chabad increase by 50%.
58. You mean Israelis making donations to fellow Israelis? wow!
BouSameer ,   Beirut Lebanon   (10.18.06)
59. TO ALL THE MORAN TALKBACKERS
BUSH ,   USA   (10.18.06)
LETS GET REAL. PUTTING ALL YOUR EMOTIONS ASIDE. It's definitely nice to feed Jews and muslims even those who hate you. King Solomon says If your enemy is hungry feed him bread. To all the right wing talkbackers it is not that they feed them makes the problem it's that they are interested to make peace with an arab faster than they would make peace with an orthodox. That only shows them as not peace loving people. Can they prove to the world they are truly peaceful with their neighbors when they fight with their own brothers at home. If you'll ask that it's the orthodox that are not peace loving so why feed a poor Jewish orthodox child over the muslim child. But the answer is clear, because who ever said the muslims are peace loving. Think about it ,its a little deep. As for the brainless leftists who try to act smart but contradict themselves hundreds of times. I recall Talula and her gang screaming about orthodox offering nothing to the country and why should you support Haredi children if they don't work. I guess Muslims offer much more and none are unemployed and take money from the govt.
60. Daisy!! #s 43,44..
Lynne   (10.18.06)
I thought that since you are always defending Jews (whether or not you're Jewish).. you should be proud of Jews who come up with such humane gestures.. I think you have misinterpreted what Judaism is about and all other religions for that matter.. you can't believe that Steiner #42 is Jewish because he had shown some humane feelings??? have you been told that Jews are supposed to be heartless, bloodthirsty creatures??? As a Muslim I'm always looking for the decent people in every religion even in mine.. I am sorry to say that you and your likes represent the radicals and human haters who are a shame to their religions..
