1. "Democracy"
Palestinian ,   Israel, US   (10.18.06)
so much for Israel being the only "democracy" in the Middle East. A democracy does not institutionalize racism legally.
2. #1 Institutional Racism, or common sense?
Bechor   (10.18.06)
Palestinians seem to be the most common group that attacks Israel. I think it is common sense - not institutional racism - that Israel monitors them more closely. America too uses racial profiling when it comes to suspected criminals or terrorists. It is not institutional racism, but simple common sense. Your claim is both ridiculous and groundless. Please leave before you embarass yourself any more. Jews Unite http://www.globaljewishcommunity.com
3. citizenship
gil ,   ashkelon   (10.18.06)
These US citizens are americans as tigers could be labelled cats. They come as palestinians militants if not terrorists, not at all neutral travellers.
4. Israel racist policy
perpetual_dream ,   Jerusalem   (10.18.06)
Finally Ynet news has mentioned this issue..... isreal has been denying entry for thousands of palestinians of arabic origins since FEB. ppl were deported and detained at airports and families were split... just to find out that a european american and not an arab american can be granted entry here.... Finally the US has moved a little bit to protect it's citizens ... Israel works under pressure :)
5. HOW MANY US JEWS HAVE BEEN KILLED BY PALESTINIANS !
Frank 45   (10.18.06)
AND THE CORRUPTED RICE SAYS NOTHING
6. Arab Phony "Palestinian"; Arabs are the racist of all.
Palestiniansareamyth ,   USA   (10.18.06)
How many Jews are allowed to live in Arab countries? In many racist apartheid Arab countries Jews are asked to deny their heritage and won't admit anyone with if their passport is stamped by Israel. Stop the bigoted attitudes in Arab countries!
7. Rice has become an Arab slave.
Palestiniansareamyth ,   USA   (10.18.06)
The Arabs hate her because she's black. Pretyy ironic isn't it?
8. Let America keep their terrorists in their land- locked up
Dani ,   Tel Aviv   (10.18.06)
Don't send them to our land- including Judea, Samaria, and Gaza.
9. N. 2.. institutional Racism
dany ,   Tel Aviv   (10.18.06)
Israel does not "monitor them more closely". Israel bans them from entering its territory as well as West Bank and Gaza all together, no exceptions. And If they are there already she expels them, regadless of them having spouses, children or family in the territories. And she does that to anyone of Palestinian origin or married to a Palestinian. D.
10. look whos talking !?? what about US discrimination
fadi ,   lebanon   (10.18.06)
against muslim americans and americans of arabic origin !!!! let them take care of their own problems and their famous patriotic act law and then to try and teach moral lessons to other nations !!!!!
11. To all the racists!
perpetual_dream ,   Jerusalem   (10.18.06)
You know wut! you know nothing when it comes to politics.... how many jews are allowed to enter the arab countries! Well, All of them if they came with other passports other than the israeli one! We are talking about inoccent american citizens who grew up in the states and came here to invest in OPT or/and to join families and friends here. Do you ppl understand the meaning of not being able to see your wife/husband and kids.... Even the israeli gov didn't explain the policy as if there is something they r unaware of.... But hello ppl, u cannot play stupid for ever... WE R palestinians who don't seem or maybe can't forget their righttoenter! When a country has some form of a treaty with other country they should respect it.... Should the israelis for examples be denied entry to jordan bc of the attrocities they do to their follow arabs in palestine... Well, no... RESPECT TREATIES!PPL!
12. American aid for terrorists groups
Bennie ,   Jerusalem   (10.18.06)
Just because America has chosen to aid Moslem terrorist groups by granting citizenship to Palestinian collaborators does not obligate Israel to engage in suicidal behavior. Israel has every right to defend itself by stopping money runners and collaborators from entering and leaving the territories, even those who America has so stupidly granted itscitizenship.
13. #1 Palestinian: False claims of "racism"
Avi ,   Afula   (10.18.06)
Just because Palestinians have manipulated America into giving them citizenship does not mean Israel is racist when we defend against money-runners aiding Moslemaniac terrorist groups. Defending itself against homicidal psychotic Moslem killers does not make Israel a "racist" country.
14. talkback 11
nadia ,   Israel   (10.18.06)
Sorry - its you who don't know what you are talking about. I know someone who is Jewish Israeli of Lybian origin. After 9/11 she was refused entry to the US because of her place of birth (she left Lybia at 6 months old) So please explain why we are racist but not the US!
15. no outcry against those who abuse the system?
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (10.18.06)
it seems that the palestinian americans should condemn those who put all palestinian americans' freedom of movement in jeopardy. you would think they would do that, but it is telling that they never say a word about it. and for that reason i don't feel sorry for them.
16. #11,#14
y ,   US   (10.18.06)
both countries are racist. It takes a little bit of racism to defeat terrorists who use rights like that to murder innocent people. This is how OBL, Hamas, ..etc. defeated the west. They basically forced them to change their principles of civil rights.
17. #11 you seem to live in a dream
Christian Bianrossa   (10.18.06)
Jews are not allowed in Saudi Arabia wake up and smell the falafel. Always blaming Israel first w/out realizing the facts.
18. Discrinates against American Jews, too...
Adam Adamati ,   Israel   (10.18.06)
Of all the 'Immigrants of choice' in Israel, it is the Americans who are the least accepted. NO Israeli can believe that one would leave America for Israel, and after a while, you can't blame them. There are levels of sefl-interest and selfishness and greed demonstrated here that are unheard of in the civilized world. Americans are seldom accepted in the workforce mainly because they work while at work, making natives look bad. ON the other hand, I cannot understand why any Palestinian/ American would choose to return to this area, for any reason. Italian/Americans, Irish/Americans, Chinese/Americans, Moroccan/Israelis, SouthAfrican/Australians, and the thousands of other combinations often go on 'heritage or roots tours' but to come back to LIVE here!!
19. No. 14, Nadia
NYC Girl   (10.18.06)
Also, after 9/11, former Defense Minister, Shaul Mofaz, was unable to obtain a visa in time to attend a conference on terrorism taking place in California. The reason? He was born in Iran. It hardly gets more ridiculous than that.
20. Excuse me?! Is Ricse aware of the fact US hassles Israelis
(10.18.06)
who came from Arab states, when they try to enter the US? Why don't they look at them selves first? and when Israelis who were born in Iran, or Irack, or Syria 60 years ago can enter with no hassle, then let them complain. Huztpa!
21. A new form of ethnic cleansing
A Bethlehemite   (10.18.06)
Thousands of Europeans and Americans with Palestinian origin are bieng denied entry to visit their families in palestine. Bt selem claims there were over 120,000 claims denied (Christian and Muslim alike). Most were allowed multiple entry before the year 2000. Israel wants to choke the Pals living there so they'd leave and want to iunsure the ones who left to study or to create an income for their families in Palestine never to return. Ethnic cleansing was declared way back then and still ongoing today: British white paper 1922 rejecting zionists leaders claims: Palestine is to become "as Jewish as England is English." http://www.yale.edu/lawweb/avalon/mideast/brwh1922.htm
22. Who cares! boo hoo!
(10.18.06)
23. #20 is 100% right
(10.18.06)
My husband is an American Jew, born in Iran and every time the passport is out he is given trouble. America is making double standards here. Not fair.
24. A Bethlehemite
NADIA ,   ISRAEL   (10.18.06)
Get your act together girlie. Whether B'tselem is correct or not think about the fact that before 2000 by your own admission this problem didn't exist. If the intifada hadn't started maybe it wouldn't exist today. But this is the chance your people took so don't cry when it didn't work out for you.
25. This is a joke in reverse
Shai ,   Israel   (10.18.06)
The American embassy has made getting visas very difficult for ALL Israelis Why? Because some Israelis, chiefly Arabs, could be involved in groups that work against American interests. This was never the case before the Gulf War. So to avoid discriminating, they make it hard for ALL Israelis, even though it's clear who the trouble makers are. WHen AMerica stops discriminating against Israelis, they will have a better reception for their complaints.
26. #3 citizenship
Rustum ,   London, UK   (10.18.06)
It seems that you are intent on labelling every single Arab-American in a negative manner. "They come as Palestinian militants, if not terrorists, not at all neutral travellers". Very strange, since it seems from teh article that the American citizens were wealthy businessmen who responded to a call to rebuild the Palestinian economy (I wonder which country destroyed it???). You build a win-win situation for yourself, whereby any non-Jew travelling to the Palestiian territories, be they businessmen, politicians, students, are all labelled terrorists.
27. National security
Brod ,   USA   (10.18.06)
As a sovereign nation, Israel has a right to protect its national security. If those American Islamists are sympathizers and supporters of Islamist-Jihadist terrorist organizations in Hamastan/Fatahan, they are traitors to America. Israel can report them to the American government for prosecution.
28. Arab Discrimination
Mordechai ,   Boca Raton USA   (10.18.06)
Lot's of money to be made working in Arab countries as a consultant. How many are openly Jewish. Is there a lawyer out there who wants to sue American companies that bow to Arab governement demands they discrminate against Jews. What will be the state departments stand.
29. Yes, please explain your policies.
D- ,   San Diego, USA   (10.18.06)
We need to learn some of them. We should not be afraid to defend ourselves from aggressive cultures, but we are. A key test of this is whether we can profile for dangerous cultures, regardless of the cultural basis, which may be a race, religion, nationality, or combination thereof.
30. To all the racists!
perpetual_dream ,   JERUSALEM, OPT   (10.18.06)
What you don't understand is that these ppl have never ever been engaged in any activity against israel.... They r inoccent civilans of palestinian origin who have the right to enter/live in their country, wut u ppl aren't aware of that these ppl should be given permanent id cards bc they r palestinians in the 1st place. Well, they never asked to come back to their stolen land all wut is that they are asking for is to be granted safe entry like other US/foreign citizens. Israel didn't deny their entry bc of security reasons, israel is just afraid that arabs would become a majority and they don't want any investments or help to the pal economy.... It's time u wake up ppl and stop playing dump! U should never keep faking things, you aren't a super power to even compare urself to the states, and the USA has the absolute right to force it's own rules on israel. They pay you billions of dollars every year, they provide military help so u can survive attacks. Furthermore, they provide political help too. It's good the US has intervened, israel doesn't normally play silly games with the state department in washington :) so after this official complaint was filled I think it's mission impossible for israel to keep on with the racist policy
