61. #51- Where is Borden
Ryan ,   Calgary, Canada   (10.19.06)
We are not in the need for a recession, however socially correct Diefenbaker was. What are you talking about violations of international laws, you seem to forget all the violations that the arab countries committ, or do you purposely leave that out. What we need is someone with common sense and a backbone to stand up to these terrorist and there supporters. Just like Harper. Someone to stand up to the quebecers and other leftwing bleeding hearts always bitching about Israel but never willing to admit any arab atrocities. Hypocrite.
62. How can any Jew/Zionist support a liberal?
Johnson ,   USA   (10.20.06)
Liberals hate the Jew, and the Christian.
63. Liberal Party
Jenny S. ,   tristate Ohio U.S   (10.20.06)
Liberalism is a disease of the heart, mind, and soul. GOD Help you
64. Mr. Harper

"GOD BLESS CANADA"
65. Harper has my support
Steeve french cndn ,   Quebec Canada   (10.20.06)
At last we have a good PM in this liberal country where minds are programmed by liberal media even worst than CNN or the BBC. But Harper will be very unpopular and I'm affraid for the next elections. For now I am thankful for this PM who "wears his pants". A french canadian
66. A Man of Principle
Rob ,   Ottawa, Canada   (10.19.06)
Stephen Harper has shown he is a man of principle, unlike the former LIberal Prime Ministers who tried to take a "balanced" stance on the Middle East. That "balanced" stance was based on where they thought they could get political capital, not on an intelligent analysis of the region. Mr. Harper and his party are to be commended for their perspective, where the interests of a democracy under constant siege are held to be far more important to terrorists bent on destroying that democracy and its citizens. Bravo to his courage.
67. GREAT AND NOT
LINDA ,   SIOUXCITY USA   (10.19.06)

Can you prove thet israel killed a lot of women and children in lebanon? No you cant. If the numbers are right they could also be victims of Hizbulla. They could be Hizbulla for all you now. And i want to remind you Hizbulla also killed women and children. But they where just jews so they dont count in your world mark!!
69. Mr. Harper, you are real friend
Igor ,   Tel Aviv   (10.19.06)
Thank you!
70. Stephen Harper spoke well.
ELMER MANZO ,   ETOBICOKE, ONTARIO   (10.20.06)
I am not a Jew nor an Arab. I am just a simple Canadian. But I am reading a lot and I see the politics going on in the Middle East. Almost all world leaders are supporting enemies of Israel who are themselves instigators of terrorism if not terrorists themselves.
71. 48
(10.20.06)
Please, this person you wrote to does not represent Canada. PM Harper does. You have people like that in the USA as well, we all see their postings here on a regular basis. This person obviously knows nothing about anything and is not even worthy of a reply.
72. Mr. Harper, PM of Canada
Vladimir ,   Novomoskovsk, Russia   (10.20.06)
It's super, Mr. Harper!
73. Mr. Harper's support for Israel
Michael A Pridham ,   Jacksonville   (10.20.06)
Since the advent of Mr. Trudeau's ascendency to leadership in Canada, I have found very, very little to be proud of as a Canadian until now. There now seems to be a leader whose values mirror the base values of Canadians in which I relate and know personally. I encourage Mr. Harper to maintain his stance supporting Israel. I would also encourage my fellow Canadians to speak up and support our Prime Minister that speaks his mind; a mind that is independent from Paris and Washington D.C.
74. Liberals
Fred ,   Canada   (10.20.06)
The Liberal party of Canada stands for only one thing - re-election. Everything else is negotiable.
75. makes ya want to become canadian!
matthew ,   cincinnati usa   (10.20.06)

76. Harper is a better friend of Israel than Olmert
Martin ,   NH, USA   (10.20.06)
Olmert MUST be removed from all aspects of authority over Israel as soon as possible. His self centered arrogance will lead your country to destruction.
77. Prime Minster Harper
eugene greenstein ,   Farmington Hills, US   (10.20.06)
The world needs more people Like Canda's Prime Minister Harper who recognize the need to fight terrorism and support Israel on the front line of terrorism.
78. Response to Dovy Toronto
RBooth ,   Toronto Canada   (10.20.06)
"This approach of Harper(re: Israel) just makes no sense.".......unless it is a statement of fact based on the principle of supporting our friends(Israel). To understand Mr. Harper one needs to realize that much of what he says is based on personal conviction vs. political posturing....a different language than what we are used to........
79. PM Harper = Evangelical Christian (aka: Bible believing)
(10.20.06)
80. Harper = Christian
(10.20.06)
All true Christian's support Israel
81. Canda-Israel
Arthur Cohn ,   Palo Alto USA   (10.20.06)
Mr. Harper. You have my support.
82. Israel = Terrorist
John Baumman ,   New York, NY   (10.20.06)
1) Israel is, for lack of a better term, an illegal country. At the urging of Zionists (post WWII) capitalizing on Western guilt over the Nazi holocaust (though Zionists had been working on this for decades prior), Israel was created in 1948 by carving out a piece of largely Arab Muslim inhabited land; carved out by Zionists, the British, and the UN). Sure... Jews have ancient historical "claim" to said land, but so do Christians, as do Muslims. You can't just declare a Jewish state on land which is deeply rooted in three distinct religions. Worse, you can't kick out 750,000 Arabs currently living on said land and whom had been living there for centuries (which is exactly what the Zionist Jews did immediately after Israel was created ie. kicked out as many Arabs as possible). By any measure then, Israel's creation was illegal and certainly immoral. 2) In 1967, Israel began its occupation of Gaza and the West Bank. This is a brutal military occupation and oppresssion of Palestinians and 39 years later, Israel still occupies and, further, creates Jewish-only settlements on Palestinian land (in the West Bank). Study this Israeli occupation a bit and it will make Pre-1994 South Africa look like Disneyland in comparison. The Israeli occupation and oppression is more in line with Nazi Germany. The IDF (Israel Defense Force) routinely terrorizes, tortures, and kills Palestinian civilians. Israel is engaged in ethnic cleansing of the West Bank as Israel fully intends (one day) to annex the West Bank making it part of Israel proper. 3) Palestinian aggresion towards Israelis is fully justified as Palestinians are occupied people and oppressed people (occupied and oppressed by the Israeli military and of course the Israeli government). Palestinian aggresion, most of it amounting to nothing more than rock throwing is a response to being occupied by Israel. There are some Palestinians who are so angry, they will sacrafice themselves (ie. suicide bombers) in order to lash out at the occupation by Israel. Yes it is terrorism, but it's a drop in the bucket when compared to the terrorism which Israel has been inflicting on Palestinians since 1948. That is the key key thing to remember... Palestinian aggresion is merely resistance to being occupied and oppressed by Israel. Repeat that over and over and understand it well, almost like a mantra, because that is the most important thing to understand regarding the Israel/Palestinian conflict. I could go on and on. But to summarize... 1) Israel is an illegal country created in 1948 2) In 1967, Israel began military occupation of the West Bank and Gaza*, thus making life for Palestinians a living hell 3) Palestinians lash back at Israel with whatever primitive means they have, and they are fully justified in doing so as they are resisting the Israeli/Jewish occupation of their land (the measly 22% remaining from the original British Mandate Palestine). * Gaza was "given back" in 2005, but that is another story all together In light of the above, anyone on the side of Israel, is on the side of evil; anyone on the side of the Palestinians, is on the side of humanity and justice.
83. From Montrealaise proud to be a Canadian again
Adina ,   Baltimore USA   (10.20.06)
Mr. Harper is to be commended for his courageous and clear-eyed stance in his support of Israel. How right he is when he notes that none of us is immune to the threat posed by anti-semitic, pro-jihadist forces. Mr. Harper recognizes that while their initial targets may be Jews and Israelis, those mired in the propaganda of hate will not rest until their anti-western agenda is achieved. God help us ALL.
84. think about it...
isn't it ironic?!! ,   Montreal, Canada   (10.20.06)
Harper said that: "Issues of human dignity, of giving people the opportunity to build their community, to realize their own dreams – as long as they respect the rights and dignity of others ... Ok, so the Israelis can build their own community by destroying others? "as long as they respect the rights of others"??? Israelis whine about not having rights, but in the meantime, they bomb civilian land as if it was nothing, killing thousands of Palestinians and Lebanese and so on... to build THEIR community? quite selfish. Israelis want to "realize their own dream" while they crush the dreams and lives of others!? Nothing seems to portray human dignity with Harper or the barbaric, savage israelis!! ... It is the Israelis who are the terrorists, not the other way around, the media distorts the truth.

Diefenbaker is dead, in case you haven't heard. Thank God for a great leader like PM HARPER!! A leader fit to run a great country like Canada in the 21st century! This leader understands and knows that Israel is a soverign and legitimate State. (by the way, calling Israel"zionist entity" will not make it go away)He is not creating any trouble for himself for speaking the truth. He is entitled to speak his mind, just like the Pope is. The free world will NOT be hushed -up by you people, get it? The people that YOU are supporting do not respect any international laws. There are laws against terrorism!!!!! LONG LIVE PM HARPER!!!!!!!!
89. to #65 Harper will always have MY vote
(10.20.06)
I am not worried about him. Whoever will be upset at him for speaking against terroristm - suppports terrorism in my book and does not deserve to be called a Canadian. We need a courageous and brave leader who speaks the truth and who is not intimidated by Islamofascists. We found that leader in the honorable PM Harper. Canadian.
90. to Linda from 67
(10.20.06)
Yet they have proven that all they want is to cause death and destruction. It's very hard to have empathy for people who teach their children to hate and kill from an early age. In the past,They were offered a state and rejected it for the simple fact that they wish to rob the whole country of Israel from the Israelis. They make no secret of it. Unfortunately, the masses are being brain-washed and are being fed the wrong ideas. The ones from amongst them who oppose those views, must fear for their lives. It's a catch 22 situation. You are right when you say that they must give up their ways in order to have a future.. This path that they have chosen is leading them nowhere.
