1. This could only happen under a weak Olmert Gov.
Marcel ,   Florida   (10.23.06)
Israel's enemies know that the spinless leader OLmert is in retreat and appeasment is the order of the day for Israel. The Road Mpa has successfully weakened Israel and led to the coming holocaust of Jews once again. By peace he shall destroy many in Israel. Daniel 8
2. Israel is foolish to allow any contact ...
Bernard Ross ,   St. Anns Bay Jamaica   (10.23.06)
...between golan and enemy. golan salaries must be paid by taxes raised from residents. what does Syria have to do with it? also thjere is no need for the red cross to have any control on Israeli territory. the red cross is a hostile organisation to Israel.
3. How much is Syria paying Olmert to look the other way?

4. sorry baby assad, you're not as important as you think
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (10.23.06)
he thinks israel is thinking about going to war wit syria, when in fact israel doesn't worry about his cold war-era 'army' as a threat. he talks big because he knows israel doesn't take him seriously. anything for attention.
5. WTF!!!!!
Abe ,   Brooklyn, USA   (10.23.06)
What is going on here? How can we even be talking about this? No land until there is peace. If that takes 1000 years, so be it - No Land for Peace! Peace first, then we'll talk about land. Olmert must go.
6. Israel, Never Surrender the Golan!

8. Peace
faisal ,   india   (10.23.06)
Peace will come when Israel return back golan heights to Syria .. First land then peace . it can be the solution .. If Israel can have peace with Egpyt and Jordan .. why cant Israel have peace with Syria ?
9. The Future
Adam ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (10.23.06)
Soon a terrorist group will be formed to take back the Golan for Syria. You will see a Palestinianization of the situation there vis a vis the Druze there. Israel will have to hit back at some point causing a rift with our own Druzes in the Carmel/Galilee. We will be forced to give away the land or risk losing our only staunch local non Jewish allie and international presure will abound.
10. Baby Assad your temptation will make the end of Allavy regim
e.m ,   s.f   (10.23.06)
Golan is part of Jewish state and no body can take it back
11. Who cares what Asas says? Ignore this fascist scumbeing

12. Attacks on Jews an Arab provocation
Steve ,   USA   (10.23.06)
B"H I know this sounds strange, but a conclusion I came to in reading Ray's article is that the occupation is not necessarily what is most bothering the Arabs. What is most bothering them is that Israel is not subjugated. Therefore, attacking Jewish citizens and subjugating them to attacks on their homes, freedom, and property east of the fence is not going to improve Israel's situation, because it just feeds into this image of Israel as a subjugator which the Arab states loathe. That was the meaning of the Lebanon attack after Israel's forced removal of its citizens in Gaza and demolition of their homes. The pain of Jews inflicting punishment was simply too much to bear. Because in Arab eyes, the Arabs are the ones to inflict punishment, and it breaks their internal mythology that they are in total charge of the entire world. Arabs start wars over it. Look at the response to the Mohammed cartoon. That is the talk of all of these "victories". It is a promotion of Arab mastery by saying the neighbors are impotent. It is therefore mandatory in this sensitive time to NOT acutally smash ANY Jewish homes anywhere. There is only thing that makes an Arab state upset more than a Jew in peace with fellow Jews. That is a Jew subjugating another Jew which violates the Arab internal sense of mastery. As long as the Arabs feel that they are proven to be the abusers, that provides internal security for them. We need to talk more about the "poor Jews" and the harshness that Abbas is "forcing" on them if they are to feel stable. Sometimes stability is difficult to obtain. Other times, it is just a matter of projecting the right image to feed the need for love that is missing until something better can be put in place. I can see how Syria would need to project messages of peace and war simultaneously. It needs to justify its mastery. This is actually a very unstable situation that needs to be dealt with properly. I do believe that Syria is preparing for war and peace simultaneously. The question is if both possibilities are on the table, to which side are the dice going to fall? Is it really in Syria's hands at a certain stage, if some other event occurs that forces the domino one way or the other?
13. LET SETTLEMENTS DO THE TALKING !!!
ANDREW ,   MIAMI,FL   (10.23.06)
14. land first, then peace
Jacob ,   Munich   (10.23.06)
Mr. Faisal, you are very far away from the region. so am I. Look at your own country how "easy" it is to come to terms over Kashmeer. At least Pakistan does not question the legality of your country. Wheras the Syrian do! As long as Arab countries are loosing wars, they have always a 2nd chace. Israel doesn´t !!!
15. NATIONALIZE ITNOW. A SYRIAN ACCORD, ALWAYS LEAST RELIABLE
MOSHE ,   USA   (10.23.06)
AND IN THE EVENT THAT A PEACE PROBLEM ARRISES BETWEEN EGYPT OR JORDAN & ISRAEL, SYRIA WILL BE OUR LEAST FOE. WE HAVE MADE PEACE WITH OUR MOST DANGEROUS ABUTTING NEIGHBORS.NOW IS THE TIME TO BOMB IRAN'S NUCLEAR BOMB FACTORIES & CHANGE THE MINDS OF THEIR PEOPLES.THE GOLAN IS ALL IMPORTANT STRATEGICALLY SO WE CAN DEFEND AGAINST ALL OUR arab NEIGHBORS. NEVER GIVE UP THE GOLAN.MOSHE
16. golan heights
kay h ,   gold coast australia   (10.23.06)
Israel should shout from the roof tops to the world that Syria is starting to use citizens to shield an attack , when they try to bomb Israel
17. Israel is drawing Syria in to another war ???
m. Segal ,   Mpls America   (10.24.06)
I have learned from the 1948 56 67 73 middle east wars that America Israel use their own Arab neighbors as politicial means to justify America Israel intentions after the June July August September October months of 2006 which shocked the entire world America Israel are drawing Syria in to another middle east war but this time Syria is a lot more prepared THANK YOU... M. Segal
18. Lets see about that - #4
Tarek ,   Damascus, Syria   (10.24.06)
Yeah lets see about that, lets see how Israel is going to ignore him. about talking big, its just like how Hassan Nassrallah talked big and Israel didnt take him seriously ... nice outcome though! Stop this ignorance policy, try to concentrate on Mr. Assad's peace proposals, that might get us all somewhere!
19. m. Segal, retarded???

THANK YOU... M. Segal
21. 18 tarek - the difference is: baby assad is no nasrallah
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (10.24.06)
but he WANTS to be like nasrallah, which is why he is aligning himself with iran. why? because he realizes that no one is taking him seriously and, therefore, has to look to the shi'ites who want more influence over here. after all, arab leaders are only "half men" (and he should know all about being a half man). it's funny: he wants more respect and influence, but aligning with iran is only going to make him more of a puppet. embarrassing.
22. #21
Tarek ,   Damascus, Syria   (10.24.06)
Whats wrong with aligning with a strong ally? What about Israel and their alliance with the US? show me what could have Israel done in the 1973 war without the 300 Tons of weapons shipped to Israel directly from the US? but whats ironic about Israel's "alliance" with the US is that Israel still screwed up in the war after all the laser guided missiles Rice delivered to Israel during the war! thats sad. so tell me who is whoms puppy? and logically, how could Assad be like Nasrallah? he is a country leader, 7assan Nasrallah is a militia leader. so my point is, if an armed militia did this much damage to Israel, what would Assad do then?
23. 22 - a strong ally that is only going to use you
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (10.24.06)
syria is only going to appear strong while it does the bidding of iran, who is willing to fight to the last syrian, lebanese, whatever. some ally. nice logic, but you admit syria's obvious weakness by saying that syria needs a militia. the difference is that assad is the one who does what nasrallah wants, not the other way around. thank you for proving my point for me. he is a puppet, always has been, always will be. that's why he is baby assad.
24. Assad A baby ??? Israel is no baby killer ???
M. Segal ,   Mplls America   (10.24.06)

THANK YOU... M. Segal
