to go to prison and not 15 and 15.
2. #1 agree witu wholeheartedly
No enough ,   where is justice?   (10.26.06)
have we become immunized against death? I mean I dont care how he did it he killed 2 people and destroyed families lives. I hope he rots in jail....this ones a lawyer the others a President and we should all just sit back and forgive the SOBs - I dont think so. I hope the day will come when the opinon of those on the internet count. I can understand accidents but the way everyone is trying to minimise it, and use the excuse of him being a lawyer to ease his sentence.. How do u sleep at night Dori Klasgsbald - one things for sure in prison u will be forced to sleep with one eye open.
3. He should receive...
Michael ,   Raanana, Israel   (10.26.06)
Lifetime disqualification on his driver's license. It's high time that people sit up and take notice that a car is a deadly weapon when not handled properly, and those who don't, whether through momentary or continuous negligence, should pay a stiff price for it.
4. Ultimate Chutzpa
Reuven Brauner ,   Raaana, Israel   (10.26.06)
"Dan Scheinman, said, “This is a severe sentence" 15 months jail time for killing two innocent people is a "severe" sentence of which he may only sit for but a few? That's all??? The judge screwed up big time on this one, if you asked me. Great legal system we have! Justice was cleared served today! I think I feel another headache coming on.
5. LAWYER SENTENCED
Max Ullman ,   ISRAEL   (10.26.06)
he should have got 3 years at least. he is a monster who destroyed a whole family. His feelings are not the issue here the issue is the feelings of the family he decimated. Will the lishkat oreh din have the guts to disbar him .
6. So, technically, he serves no time in prison at all?
Isabella ,   Israel   (10.26.06)
Is this because he's a lawyer to the famous? This makes me puke, it's disgusting - there is absolutely NO JUSTICE here. He killed two people for crying out aloud and he gets 15 months probation? What a fucking disgrace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have become a nation with complete disregard for the sanctity of human life. The judge needs to be questioned here. Questions must be asked.
7. Is an Appeal of the sentence wise?
Darren ,   Tampa, FL USA   (10.26.06)
In some Courts, when you appeal the length of a sentence you run the risk of not only getting the requested downward departure but quite possibly an upward departure. In otherwords, the State at the appeal by the defendant could demand and be granted a tougher sentence. I wonder if that is true for Israeli Courts and I note the Prosecutor petitioned for an even more sever sentence. I won't condemn the man for there but by the grace of God go I. We all have been "negligent" or at least not as prudent when driving a car as we should be. I am not saying the sentence is inappropriate, but I'm not going to get all "righteous" and scream for blood. Just saddened that a woman and her child lost their lives and a family has been devastated. Two families actually if you consider the attorney's family along with the attorney.
8. 15 months in prison? he'll be out in less.
Israel   (10.26.06)
What a disgusting excuse for a legal system we have. This man killed a woman and her 6 year old son, he has ruined the lives of this family and he gets 15 months in prison? FIFTEEN MONTHS????????? He wasn't acting carelessly, he was drunk.

Darren ,   Tampa, FL USA   (10.26.06)
Where do you get your information that he was drunk? I did not see in either article any mention that he was drunk. Out of curiousity, was he drunk and what is the source of your information to which I am not privy? Or are you being reckless/libelous with the truth?
10. Cover-up
Talula ,   Israel   (10.26.06)
His lawyer said they didn't expect such a severe sentence??? HE KILLED TWO PEOPLE!!!!!!!! I'm stunned. I'd also like to know why it took the police so long to give him a breathalyzer test, I think we all know the answer to that one. With justice like this, no wonder emigration is at an all time high. Who wants to live in a country where you serve a minimal sentence for manslaughter. I agree with someone here in this talkback that questions should most definitely be asked. What a joke.
11. Light sentence
Nachash Tsefah ,   Tel Aviv   (10.26.06)
This is a particularly light sentence, totally inadequate for the seriousness of the incident. Two people were killed and six injured due to this guy's "screw you. I own the road attitude" (which is all too common on Israeli roads). He should have got three years at least plus community service (maybe working in an emergency room or for one of the road safety organisations such as Or Yarok). Furthermore he should have been banned for life from driving or owning a car. The road death toll in Israel is unacceptably high, a consequence of the aggressive and irresponsible attitude of Israeli drivers. This problem can be addressed through measures including a no-tolerance attitude and harsh punishments for violations. The court should have made an example of him and shown Israeli drivers that recklessness and negligence will not be tolerated! Instead the message is that you can kill people through vehicular negligence and get away with a slap on the wrist.
12. 8
(10.26.06)
It was in the Israeli newspapers when it happened. He was coming back from lunch and that he had allegedly been drinking.
13. Dori Klagsbald
Metuna ,   Netanya, Israel.   (10.26.06)
To all the "talkbackers"; So where were you all this morning? If you all feel so strongly why did'nt you come and demonstrate with us at the courthouse?Join us in the fight against road carnage and serious injury!
14. Jail time misses the point
Ilan ,   Ariel   (10.26.06)
The best thing would be that in addition to a financial penalty that this guy be made to commit to 10 hours of pro bono legal aid per week for the next several years. To put him in jail is to give into feelings of revenge.
15. Wow!
(10.26.06)
How quickly this left the main news page. Hullo hullo...kfar shmaryahu calling...
16. causing car crash
