1. half knowledge is dangerous
luai ,   rammallah   (10.26.06)
while the write stated the real situation, he forgot to mention, the israeli government at the moment which includes leiberman, is not that similar to hamas government, i think we should focus more on the external reasons causing the situation to be hard for president Abbas, i think the situation is ideal for the israeli government to impose one sided steps on the ground, having an excuse that there is no partner, arafat was nto a partner!!! when Abbas was a partner he has not been given anything , to sum up, only enemies make peace together, so there is a partner onthe palestinian side, but are we giving that partner a little chance !!!
2. Normal society feed their president
Uzi   (10.26.06)
in return for the service the president renders. Children and the disabled are fed by custodians. The Palestinian Arabs elected Hamas and brought about their misery. They must help themselves, Abbas can't.
3. #1 - when Abbas had power he sanctioned terror attacks !
redmike ,   tel aviv & london   (10.26.06)
When Abbas had power he sanctioned terror attacks ! Abbas is not a person for anyone to bother talking to because he can't deliver the goods. Israel and Hamas are on different planets. Sadly no dialogue except that of Lieberman (force) is foreseeable. Arabs sadly only seem to respect an iron fist and Israel's moderation has been perceived as weakness. regards, Michael
4. Buy food, not guns & nobody will be hungry, duh, stupid.
Avraham ,   Netivot   (10.26.06)
5. Abbas has no other choice, he must feed his people
edy burak ,   aventura   (10.26.06)
Abbas have a good choice A)leave gaza for Hamas , he can do anything in Gaza anymore B)create a state in W.B , Ramallah as the capital and show the word that he's can insert people of the W.B in a refined world Israel can help this idea with many education projects
6. palestinian people
habakook   (10.26.06)
hamas was willing to call a truce for the withdrawal of israel to the 1967 borders and sharing of jerusalem. noway israel can withdraw around jerusalem so a land swap ironically agreed to by israel our home is possible. within that land probably the triangle gaza palestians peaceful types certainly not activists could move. with time the anti-jewish malice of islam in extreme must rotate to dignified acceptance.
7. WHY DOESNT THE ARAB LEAGE WHO IS WILLING TO SPEND
DACON9   (10.26.06)
WHY DOESNT THE ARAB LEAGE WHO IS WILLING TO SPEND BILLIONS TO MAKE WAR AGAINST ISRAEL. .WHY isnt the arab league spending a few million to educate and feed the arabs in gaza. Why are the arabs still in gaza and not in jordan their home? why doesnt jordan allow them home? why does jordan have concentration camps for the arabs they they mistakenly call ''palistinian.? why did israel allow this term to get media support. why isnt the world staright yet? why? why? why? MASHIACH WILL BE HERE SOON
8. WHAT THE * ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?
shira ,   jersey city, jersey   (10.26.06)
and I quote: ..."or exercise his constitutional right to dissolve the radical government that was imposed on him. Would that be interpreted as an anti-democratic step?" oh yes - it is quite appealing that in order for Palestine to be "democratic" they must make a popular uprising in order to oust their DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED government or, worse, allow their not-so-loved leader to act as totalitarian and make decisions for them, no matter their desires. it's interesting how the west interprets democracy when it comes to palestine. "be democratic and riot against your elected government" or else. nice freudian parapraxis (slip of tongue): democracy vs. bread: "save the palestinians from themselves???" Can someone say RACISM? I'd like to hear someone in the States ask to save the blacks from themselves. How tautological, how primitive is this discourse?
9. Use money for food, salaries, construction and not terrorism
RA   (10.26.06)
If the "Palestinians" wanted to be saved, they could have done this 40 years ago
10. #8 "how primitive is this discourse?" As primitive as Palis
RA   (10.26.06)
11. feed Hamas?
david s. ,   san fran-sicko, ca   (10.27.06)
Democracy itself doesn't mean a thing, it is only a concept, a philosophy. Hitler was democratically elected, as was Hamas. As far as Jews are concerned, both begin with the letter "H" and both exist(ed) primarily to exterminate Jews. The Arabs made their democratic choice, let them live with it. Promoting a coup by Abbas makes as much sense as knocking off Hitler to install Goering.
