I proposed the fence solution to Senator Percy, then Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, over 25 years ago. It should have been realized back then as the only way to seperate Israel and the so-called Palestinians. Cowardice back then led to the Intifadah. By now, the two sides may have been able to act peacefully, if the fence had been built.

This decision is unjust. This is land of Palestinians.

The fence does great damage to the environment and the natural beauty of th area. It also infringes on freedom of movement for both Jewish and Arab people living near it. It is a great boon to the contractors building it, but it I am very unconvinced that it it's benefits towards security are worth the expense. A better solution would be to remove those Arabs that do not want to coexist peacefully and let the majority of Jews and Arabs to get on with their lives. We may not love each other, but we probably could get along.
