1. only 2 will be kosher ? why not all of them?
johanna ,   tsfat   (10.29.06)
anyway i wouldn't call eating at McDonalds a "dining out" experience. It's fast food, not gourmet.

Mark ,   USA   (10.30.06)
All restaurants in Israel must be Kosher!! This is the holy land. This is not the United States. Do it the Kosher Way, Ronald Mcdonald. No cheeseburgers!!!
7. All restaurants in Israel must be kosher
Mark ,   USA   (10.30.06)
This is a Jewish state. Ban all non-kosher food from entering into Israel.

McDonalds SUCKS. It suck in USA. It sucks in Europe and it will suck in the Middle East. Americans have become so disgustingly FAT from all the junkfood they eat. Will Israelis do the same..lol Remember, you are what you eat. lol
11. Omri Padan is a far leftist
dima   (10.30.06)
although i used to enjoy mcdonlds before i went kosher, when visiting israel i refuse to buy kosher version as i do not want my money to go to a far leftie like Omri Padan who uses it to enhance the vision of peres, rabin, beilin and similar scum. so my advice, boycot it and buy meurav yerushalmi instead - it is healthier and tastier.
12. McDonalds to open new branches
Daniel ,   Lod, Israel   (10.30.06)
After fattening more than half the US; are they determined to fallen Israelites and make them sluggish?
13. Make healthy food at home

Treat your body like the temple it is.
14. Fast Food Nation
Daniela ,   Tel Aviv   (10.30.06)
Read the book "Fast Food Nation". Read what large fast food chains like Mcdonalds, Burger King, Wendy's, Butterball and the like really do. How they treat the animals who give up their life for our consumption. How they treat the workers. How filthy the areas where food is prepared is. Not to mention that anywhere these fast food chains have opened globally have helped expand the waistlines of it's consumer. Some of the ingredients have addictive qualities. At the very least, in America- it is known as cheap- fast food. Here you pay the importing tax on their name alone. I can't find a single positive aspect of them existing at all-unless you are one of their heartless executives who know all the harm it reeks on society but only see their paycheck.
15. This will only increase non-kosher eating
Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (10.30.06)
Especially among young people/kids. The Haredim should not only demonstrate against the 'gay pride' parade but also the establishment of these non-kosher eating establishments.
16. I only eat at Mcdonald's in Israel
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (10.30.06)
Eating at Mcdonald's in Israel is an expression of support for personal and religious freedom. Out of Israel it's definitely a no-no for me. It's a funny old world, as the Brits say.

Daniela is very accurate in her assessment of fast food chains. A point she missed is that fast food chains RARELY benefit the local agricultural markets; rather, they import beef from the US or Australia fed on soybeans from Brazil, etc. So not only are you eating essentially alien food subject to local standards (who knows if you're eating kosher or halal?), you're helping pollute the skies since the global transit consumes ridiculous amounts of fuel to get to your mouth. If cooking at home is such a chore, support a small local food chain or a falafel stand. You'll do more benefit to your economy and environment that way than by almost any other political means.
18. which branches are currently kosher?
MB ,   Israel   (11.01.06)
Does anyone out there know which branches of McDonalds in Israel are currently kosher?? I do not normally eat there, but if I am traveling with my family (including 3 little kids) around Israel, I find them a very useful rest stop. THANKS!
19. PS kosher monopoly
MB ,   Jerusalem   (11.01.06)
I also agree with what has been said in the other talkbacks: 1) Why not make all the new ones kosher. It can only stand to boost their image. 2) Have an ad campaign w/a colored symbol added to the logo on which branches are/will be kosher. 3) Add some new things that are typical Israeli/Jewish and popular w/kids like Felafel, homous, fish sticks, tiras snitzel or even chicken soup!

I always prefer small independent any store whenever possible. But by eating at Mcdonalds in Israel, I'm casting a vote against religious fundamentalism.
