31. Queer/gay parade
Avraham ,   Netivot   (10.30.06)
The Charadim are right in their stance. We must use any & all means to stop this disgusting & immoral spectacle from happening in our holy city of Jerusalem or anywhere else in Israel. If this means using violence, so be it. The police have the power to cancell it, lets see if they have the will.
32. Haredim behave like terrorists
Natasha ,   London   (10.30.06)
Jerusalem is a holy city for ALL jews, gay and straight! G-d created all sorts of people...shame on the religious who think that their way of life is the only one. Live and let live. The police must stop these religious fanatics as they bring shame on all Jews.
33. Is This Abomination the Goal of Zionism?
H ,   Jerusalem   (10.30.06)
34. If only the Haredim could be so united about releasingAgunot
(10.30.06)
35. Gay Parade
Mariah ,   USA   (10.30.06)
Many people agree that there shouldn't be a gay parade, but the gay movement is a well oiled publicity machine. The Haredim don't have a chance.
36. #32 Natasha... all are welcome in Jerusalem ...
Theo ,   Bat Yam   (10.30.06)
... but why should they flaunt their sexualty in the streets?
37. STAY out of Jerusalem
elianna ,   USA   (10.30.06)
What you do in your bedroom is your choice what you present in the street is something else. A sex parade should not be in Jerusalem the holy city. Who would dare consider having a mardi gras in Jerusalem.. What is the definition of someone gay- Only a sexual definition. No more meaning then that. So what nerve do these people have.
38. Haredim against gay pride
Fern WEISS ,   Minneapolis, MN   (10.30.06)
Hatred, violence, incitement to do harm, perhaps even kill if followers get carried away, who is to say? This is the way of the Haredim? And the "abomination" is what? That a man lay with a man or a woman with a woman"? No the abomination is the seeds of hatred sown in "support" of Hashem. How sad...
39. Theo, remember Israel is a democracy
Natasha ,   London   (10.30.06)
Thank G-d Israel is a democratic state with freedom of speech and expression. Jews of all sexual persuasions should be free to "flaunt" themselves if they wish. If you don't like it, don't go to the parade! The religious fanatics are free to demonstrate but not to threaten violence or infringe other people's rights.
40. Non-religous people too
Stan ,   jerusalem   (10.30.06)
The vast majority of people, not only religous have little time for the gays. Let them keep what they do in private - why are they shoving it in our faces if not to provoke reaction??
41. #39 Natasha ...
Theo ,   Bat Yam   (10.30.06)
I am not religious and I have nothing whatsoever against gay people. But, freedom of speech and lewd behavior in public are not the same thing - even in a democracy. Jerusalem's history shows that it is not 'just another city' and it is holy not only to the Jews. This parade is un-necessary and, if it is allowed to go ahead, will bring nothing but trouble and injury.
42. Flaunting Debauchery
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (10.30.06)
It is bad enough when someone commits an act of immorality. It is worse when he broadcasts his sin in public. It is worse still when he is proud of his debased ways. It is worse still when he wants to be accepted and wants his acts to be accepted despite its immorality. It is worse still when he considers his sin something good and positive. It is worse still when he publically displays his sinfulness in order to entice others to join him in his perversity. It is worse still when he disgraces a holy place and a holy people. It is worse still when he spits in the face of G-d.
43. WAIT ANOTHER FEW YEARS!!!!!
Joe   (10.30.06)
IN ANOTHER 50 YEARS OR SO THERE WILL BE NO NEED FOR PROTESTS. AT THIS RATE THERE WILL BE ONLY CHAREDIM LEFT (AND MAYBE SOME ARABS). "YOU ARE DESTROYING YOURSELF AND THE WORLD TOGETHER WITH YOU BY GIVING MARRIAGE RIGHTS TO GAYS AND LESBS" HOW MANY HOMOS WERE THERE 10 YEARS AGO AND HOW MANY ARE THERE NOW?????
44. Stan, you could say men should wear a kippa in private!
Natasha ,   London   (10.30.06)
Religious Jewish women shove their beliefs in people's faces all the time. They wear sheitels which symbolise oppression of women and are offensive to me but I don't go around threatening them with violence. It is precisely because of this bigotry that gays feel the need to assert their rights.
45. Is Israel a Democracy?
Viroslav ,   Spain   (10.30.06)
Not so sure. Civil marriage is not permitted. Freedom of movement is limited. Freedom of dressing is limited. Religion affects the civil rights. It is more closer to to a Theocracy. Fortunately, unlike Muslim theocracies it is not so aggressive against other religions/races rights (by now). I agree with Natasha. Seeing ladies trying to look as awful as possible for not "provoking" men is insulting for me. Seeing people making ostentation of their religion is offending to me as an Atheist. (I imagine the answer in talkbacks : "kill yourself, you don't have the right to live" :-) ) It is not for Gays! It is for Civil Rights!
46. Must be stopped
Micha ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (10.30.06)
If we Jews want to continue to live in this Land which G-d gave to us, we must obey His commandments. In other words, the Land was given to us on condition that we live by the Torah. The practice of gay people is totally against the Torah. These people must be stopped from flaunting their obscene practices in our Holy Land. However, they are not to be rejected as Jews because every Jew can make teshuvah (repentence).
47. To # 13
Micha ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (10.30.06)
You say that "what is hateful to you do not do to others." Did you ever stop to think that the Torah itself says that sodomy is hateful to God. It is an abomination in His eyes. If Gay people want to come here and pray or learn Torah they are welcome. But if they want to promote their anti-Torah life style, they are unwelcome.
48. Misha: "Let the one without sin cast the first stone."
Viroslav ,   Spain   (10.30.06)
49. Misha: "Let the one without sin cast the first stone."
Viroslav ,   Spain   (10.30.06)
This is the TRUE for Christians. It is written in the Bible and it was said by the very Jesus. OK, you can argue that you are "the one without sin" :-). You can also argue that your religion is the true one :-) I would answer that MY religion, Atheism, is the true one. There is a lot of people that I don't like to look at. And this is just what I do: look in other directions. If they are not against law, civil rights or human rights everyone can do what they want. They do and they will never do anything against you. Forget them.
50. hare-dim in no position to object
ygalg   (10.30.06)
it is not the messianic era yet... I hoped from hare-dim to act better than Muslims, but it seems they are no better. why hare-dim do not rage against Muslims who at the mountain Moria worship Muhammad, the mass murderer who butchered three tribes of Jews??? hypocrites and traitors. I am a Jew, but I won't associate myself with those kind of Jews.
51. To Natasha
DodI ,   uk   (10.30.06)
IF YOU WANT YOUR DIRT ALL FINE BUT KEEP IT TO YOU. EVEN A DOG CLEARS HIS DIRT. KEEP IT OUT OF THE HOLY JERUSALEM. NOBODY ASK YOU HOW YOU LIVE !!!! BUT NOT IN PUBLIC !
52. #44 Natasha
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (10.30.06)
If you wee a woman wearing a wig, assuming that you can even notice it is a wig, how do you know that she is an Orthodox woman and not a cancer patient receiving chemotherapy? If you feel threatened by a Jewish woman wearing a sheitel then you must be a very insecure person. Are you just as threatened by Muslim women walking around in full jihab?
53. Reading this article..
Connie ,   VA, USA   (10.30.06)
made me remember listening to a "Focus on the Family" commentary about homosexuality. For people trapped in that lifestyle and who want free of it there is a web site to them. It is www. exodus-international org. Focus on the Family is an orginazation founded and headed by christian and conservative psychologist and author Dr. James Dobson.
54. TO #50
Dodi ,   UK   (10.30.06)
READ #51 TO NATASHA SAME TO YOU.
55. to #54 jerusalem holy???
(10.30.06)
don't make me laugh... as long as the Muslims are there, it's impure. they worship a pedophile a mass murderer but that doe snot bothers you what is bothers you it's a walk of gay people in a course where it won't be even close to the wall. while Muslims are exact in the same spot where ones stood the Temple. you are hypocrite!
56. To # 55 Interesting thought BUT
Bush ,   USA   (10.30.06)
you are so wrong its scary. You see only what can be holy can be impure. A Jew who touches a dead person for example becomes impure and must purify himself to become Holy. A moslem or any Gentile cannot become impure. Gays that are Jews can become impure and make Jerusalem impure just like they can make holy. As long as the Temple mount is in the Moslams hands is the best thing for all Jewry because otherwise all of us impure Jews would have desecrated that land 100 times over. Therefore I just proved to you that # 54 is no hypocrite.
57. #13
Paul Phillips ,   london england   (10.30.06)
Bad Jews? Are they real Jews at all? How far away from tolerance and decency is it possible to stray while still being Jewish?
58. anyone surprised that Israelis turn to violence?
FM ,   Seattel USA   (10.30.06)
Is anyone surprised that Israelis decide to resort to violence to "solve" their problems? I'm not. Look at their history!!! Their entire nation is FOUNDED on terrorism. Their people--military and civillian--kill and maim people every single day. Violence is all they know.....wait, violence and deception. Drunk on their fantastic mythology that they're God's Chosen People, etc. It all goes to their heads and they think that whatever they do is okay. What a diseased population they are. I appreciate and respect those among them who fight against their violent and misguided bretheren and stand up for humanity and love.
59. #58
Adam Segal ,   Raanana, Israel   (10.30.06)
Wow thats an interesting point you have there. See I am an Israeli civillian and I have never killed anybody. Come to Israel and see how murderous and violent we really are...
60. adam, stop being petty
FM   (10.30.06)
I think you know what I mean. I'm not saying that EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU are killing people everyday....but you already know that. The majority of your population endorses and defends the violence done by your people towards others--Palestinians especially. Instead of actually addressing what I'm saying you'd rather just make an idiotic comment. Way to go. I shouldn't expect anything more from you should I?
