Sephardi?
I use Mizrahi. Sephardi implies ones ancestors went through Spain. Funny how I can assure you the Yemenites,Iraqi,Iranian,Indian,Ethiopian,Egyptian,etc... and a fair portion of the North African Jewery had nothing to do with Spain. While I respect everyone, this demening terminology in always designating a Jew to have originated from Europe (Sephardi/Spain, Ashkenazi/Eastern Europe) is horrible. The worst pat is that the Mizrahi buy into it. Those of us whose ancestry had NOTHING to do with Europe would like to be termed correctly.
This may seem like a simple play of symantics but think twice.
If someone can honestly explain to me why the word Sepharad is used for all Jews of the east then I will gladly retract my statements.
