31. sick self-hating Jews on this forum

Who gives a crap where the parents or grandparents of certain yeshiva students came from. As most intelligent and people who believe in Ahavat Yisrael have said, the yeshivot and seminaries should be focused on the religious observance and outlook of the students, not their sociocultural background. The students going to these seminaries accept the fact that Ashkenasi halachot will be taught and emphasized, they are not demanding that Sephardi/Mizrachi teachings be promoted, just that they as individual human beings and lovers of Torah and mitzvot be accepted as equals. .
32. Speaking of racism would someone care to explain the term
Jonathan Levi ,   Jerusalem Israel   (11.06.06)
Sephardi? I use Mizrahi. Sephardi implies ones ancestors went through Spain. Funny how I can assure you the Yemenites,Iraqi,Iranian,Indian,Ethiopian,Egyptian,etc... and a fair portion of the North African Jewery had nothing to do with Spain. While I respect everyone, this demening terminology in always designating a Jew to have originated from Europe (Sephardi/Spain, Ashkenazi/Eastern Europe) is horrible. The worst pat is that the Mizrahi buy into it. Those of us whose ancestry had NOTHING to do with Europe would like to be termed correctly. This may seem like a simple play of symantics but think twice. If someone can honestly explain to me why the word Sepharad is used for all Jews of the east then I will gladly retract my statements.
