2. COMMON CRIMINALS
lorry   (11.03.06)
"Police treated ultra-Orthodox like common criminals,' resident says." All residents that break the law should be treated the same. HAREDIM ALL NOT ABOVE THE LAW They actions make them no better then criminals.....Maybe even worse because they think they are in the right
3. #2 What are you talking about
(11.03.06)
Has IDF clubbed Arabs in Israel who have pro Hamas rallies or have they evicted and clubbed Arabs and Bedouins who have built illegal homes inside the green line? No Do they stop Jews from blowing a shofar on the High Holy days, Yes. And your statement stating that they are worse because they think they are in the right, what business are you to say "they", are all Jews who follow the commandments of Hashem "they"? And your comment about they think they are in the right, regardless of religious Jews, every person thinks they are in the right, what criminals believe they are doing a moral wrong, ugh, stop being so blinded.
4. Lorry people like you.....
Israel ,   USA   (11.03.06)
are the problem. How dare you say they are worse because they think they are right. Its because of the hate you have in you for them.
5. Haredim Gone Wild
Odawg ,   Brooklyn   (11.03.06)
People are allowed to say what they want. The haredim should understand that the laws that protect their rights to gather and protest are the same exact laws which allow gay people to gather and protest. Jerusalem has been the scene of much worse actions then a gay parade. In Brooklyn we have many haredim and we have many gay people, everyone is allowed their own parade with the correct permits. Let the gay people have their parade and let the haredim have a straight parade. I must add that there will probably be more women at the gay parade. This makes you wonder, was todays protest the gay parade?
6. Jewish Elder Brothers
Gabriella ,   USA   (11.03.06)
We pray that the evil will not occur in the Holiest City on Earth. What pride is there in men having sex with men. Not in Jerusalem, why not Arabia? Most Christians are sickened by this. Messiah Come Soon!
7. THIS IS SO BIASED (BOTH SIDES)
Bracha ,   Jerusalem, IL   (11.03.06)
Okay..wow, that video is SO edited...it didn't show like anything that went on, only the worst from both sides. maybe someone should contact me to see unedited video not this selective crap. anyway, its chillul h' on the religious side, but...disgusting what the other side is doing.
8. Burning and attacking police officers and cab drivers....
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (11.03.06)
will get you treated like the common criminal that you are. The argument is "there will be no violence if you give us what we want - cancel the parade." What a crock of horseshit. We gay Israelis are not the violent ones. We are not the disrespecful ones. What we want is to peacably, modestly and respectfully assemble in our own capital city - our beloved Jerusalem. It belongs to all of us and it is big enough for all of us. We will be there next Friday will ill will toward no person and certainly not toward God almighty.
9. See what the instigation the gays..
Josh   (11.03.06)
has caused. The gays can claim they are "non- viloent" yet they are willing to let such blood shed because they have a need to feell "proud". If they had one righteous bone in their bodies, they would move the parade where it is less offensive or cancel the idea in taht all it is suopposed to be about is "pride" and that ceratinly is not worth hurting people. Oviously causing such problems by challenging a communities belief is what they are really proud of. Cancel the parade and make laws to prevent such parades that are offensive and server no real "good" or purpose as pride is not tangible. If they can close stores on shabbat and holidays for supporting a Jewish nation, they can certainly create a law to prevent this type of instigation against Torah and Jews.
10. Jews can't pray on the Temple Mount because it might offend
Besalel ,   Kew Gardens, NY   (11.03.06)
What a society Israel has become! Israel forbids Jews from praying at the Temple Mount, even though the Temple Mount lies in middle of Jerusalem, the capital of the Jewish nation because a Jew's prayer at that site might offend Muslims. The government claims that while prayer itself is allowed all over Israel, it is still restricted in certain areas due to the sensitivities of Arabs. The governent tells Jews who want to pray at the Temple Mount, "sorry, its a legitamite act but the wrong place for it." Yet, here, with regard to the gay parade, the sensitivities of Jews, Christians and Muslims the world over are trampled for the sake of right of assembly. Where is Israel's policy of "legitamite act but wrong place?" Clearly, the gay parade, even if it is a legitimate act, holding it in Jerusalem is the wrong place.
11. Here's a better headline for this story
Steve G ,   Kew Gardens,NYC   (11.03.06)
Here's a better headline for this Embarrassment to Democracy story: "Anti-Gay Bigotry Reaching Crescendo" or perhaps "Jerusalem Repairs Walls On Fears Of Tel Aviv Invasion" or even: "That David and Jonathan Thing Was Just A Rumor."
12. You know it's bad
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (11.03.06)
You know it's realy bad when even YNet features on its front page, a picture of a Haredi Jew on the ground, being pounded on by two cops with clubs.
13. lorry
gabriela ben ari ,   jerusalem   (11.03.06)
the statement of this resident does NOT critisize police for treating them "like common criminals" "common", therefore requiring special treatment, but for being treated as *criminals alltogether!!!! common, uncommon or otherwise got it? 1-to be hareidi does not make you a criminal 2- to manifest your opposition to abomination parade, does not make you a criminal 3- to rub in our faces and our children's eyes a most disgusting parade IS criminal
14. I was injured...
Daniel ,   Jerusalem   (11.03.06)
I was just walking, not doing anything but shouting, and suddenly 4 cops came around the corner. They got me. I couldn't get away in time, and I was the first they could get. They started beating in on me with sticks, with their hands. I have a small bleeding wound on my nose, pain in my back where they kicked me, a bruise on my leg, pain in my shoulder, and my glasses were damaged when they hit me with the stick.
15. "like common criminals"
Michael Steiner   (11.03.06)
That's a shame; they should've treated you for what you are: a bunch of seditious rioters. They should've taken teargas, rubber bullets and truncheons to your asses with a vengance. You're not common criminals; you're much, much worse.
16. abu steiner: go back to arabia and dont post in israeli news

17. Aggressive Gay Extremists
marya ,   sacramento, USA   (11.03.06)
They're not merely asking for tolerance . They're forcefully intruding into the holy sancity of Jerusalem, rubbing the noses of all who are not welcoming them by blowing kisses and throwing roses. Why do Jerusalemites have to witness barely dressed homosexuals flaunting their hatred of the religious? Where is THEIR understanding? Why must all make allowances FOR THEM? That's the problem. Narcissistic, self absorbed, aggressive gays forcing a lurid debaucle called a parade on religious Jews, Christians and Muslims. It's all ONE WAY -- THEIR WAY. They don't embreace diversity - they spit in the face of all who are traditional. To hell with them!
18. #12 Kyle....
Daniel ,   Jerusalem   (11.03.06)
They got me with 4.... It was early on, they were regular cops, in regular clothing. Not in special riot suits or so. Just in regular jackets and shirts. They just threw me to the ground and started hitting me, while I was screaming "I'm innocent, I didn't do anything, I didn't do anything, let me go!!" They kept hitting me, with sticks, in the face and back and knee and back and stomach.
19. haredim
dennis ,   chicago   (11.03.06)
WHO SPEAKS WITH MORE RELIGIOUS AUTHORITY, THE HAREDIM PROTESTING THE GAY PARADE.... OR THE MILITANT MOSLEMS THAT BURNED EVERYTHING IN SIGHT AT THE SIGHT MOHAMMED CARTOONS ?
20. Criminals
Holly in Cincinnati ,   USA   (11.03.06)
Those who act like common criminals will be treated like common criminals.
21. equality
J ,   Toronto   (11.03.06)
just as israel recognizes gay right they gays need to recognize that jerusalem is a holy city to religous jews and muslims and need to respect that there are plenty of other places to have the parade
22. If only they REALLY cared about Israel...
malcolm   (11.03.06)
...And the Jewish people, they should have protested violently against the government right after the war for the treasonous behavior of Olmer/Livni/Peretz/Halutz. Where were they then? Instead they are obsessed with sex. How sad that this is the only thing that unites this group. How wonderful it would be if they could unite in prayer for protection against they enemies of Israel (those within & without). Instead they are in the streets behaving like wild Palestinian teenagers.
23. Yeah, yeah, Besalel (10), you still don't get it.
sk ,   USA   (11.03.06)
You correctly point out that Jews are denied freedom of assembly and the right to practice their (our) religion because the Temple Mount is off limits for Jewish prayer. Truly this is an outrage, and it's just too bad that Muslims would riot because they hate Jews so much that they can't stand them on the TM. But then you manage to miss the punch line, which is that the TM must be open for Jewish prayer. Period. If the Haredim and Orthodox hangers on would have made this point, they would have a protest that would be very persuasive to MANY people (what, maybe 90% of the Jews? Could even Meretz oppose this?). Personally, I have been hammering away at this theme to Manhigut Yehudit (when I was still a member), Israel National Radio personalities, etc., but it still seems that nobody gets it. Apparently, it's much more important to call one's fellow Jew a pervert than to ally with him for a positive purpose. But I forgot, the Haredim are allying with the Muslims - the same people who threaten to riot if Jews pray on the TM.
24. Poor innocent Daniel Van Dalen (14)
sk ,   USA   (11.03.06)
If I were at my other computer, I could trot out all the bloody threats of violence that you have hurled at your fellow Jews, both gay and Orange. I don't believe your story of innocence for a moment.
25. Kyle, watch who your "buddies" are (not Daniel, #18)
sk ,   USA   (11.03.06)
Daniel Van Dalen has posted some of the most blood-curdling things here against Jews, both Orange and gay. But he always makes sure to say nice things about Arabs. I don't believe for a minute he was an innocent bystander, because he has shown repeatedly here what his intentions are.
26. THE NAZIS HATED GAYS TOO.
DEBRA ,   USA   (11.03.06)
27. J (21) for the millionth time ... Jerusalem is not "holy"
sk ,   USA   (11.03.06)
Most of Jerusalem is NOT holy. It has holy areas. The parade is not going near holy areas. The Knesset sits in Jerusalem. How "holy" is the Knesset? Jerusalem is a dual-purpose city. As the political capital, it is an ideal place for a political action. Learn it already. 'k?
28. Dear Debra...#26
marya ,   sacramento   (11.03.06)
Many Nazis WERE GAY! Who do you think the SA (Sturm Abteilung ) were? Earnst Rhoem and his Brownshirts were brutal sadistic homosexuals that loved busting Jewish heads. They were responsible for Kristallnacht. They got too powerful, too many in number so Hitler did away with them. Ever heard of "Night of the Long Knives" by Hans Hellmut Kirst? Read it and educate youself....
29. Thank G-d for the Haredim, because we aren't doing anything!
J ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (11.03.06)
No matter how much us modern religious & secular Jews bash the Haredim all year long, you have to appreciate them right now. They are going to be the ones that stop this parade, not the rest of us sitting around doing nothing as a catastrophie is about to overcome the Holy City of Jerusalem. Go Haredim! Go!
30. Jews-Hamas
D ,   Yerushalayim   (11.03.06)
These fanatic, violent anti-Zionists nehave like Hamas, and should be treated the same way.
