2. Is it possible that the World's....
Lynne   (11.04.06)
conscience is starting to wake up!! what's the use of such opinions after Afghanistan and Iraq were destructed?? why does it always take thousands of lives in order to reveal the truth about a criminal??
3.  Ignorance or hate?
Don Saliman ,   Nahal Oz, Israel   (11.04.06)
I can not believe people are so stupid,to think Bush is a threat, almost like Bin Laden to world peace. Without America, the world would be in mortal danger from the evils of the world. Is there so much hate for Bush, that the English and yes Americans think Bush is a threat to world peace. Think people out there and leave the hate for Bush, before it destroys you and me. Tell me,who is the first country to offer aid to the world and first to come to aid in natural disasters in the world and if your answer is not America, then your hate has already destroyed you.
4. Good!
Neal ,   NJ,USA   (11.04.06)
Hope all the Eurabians, left wingers, collaborators and Jihadists are scared. Just remember the USA is the only country to ever use an atomic bomb. If you hurt us we will hurt you much worse. Just in case, we should continue to work the diplomatic track just in case, but highly unlikely the savages ever want peace
5. British Poll
lynne ,   usa   (11.04.06)
I advise supports of the US to boycott all British products and travel to England. I am sick of the British and the biased BBC.
6. Yup

And these are our best allies. It's everybody else that's crazy, not the US, right?
7. The world is waking up to USA hegmony in this world

8. Polls
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (11.04.06)
What? Bush came in second and Ahmadinejad 5th? I doubt that Bush cares one way or the other, but for Ahmadinejad to come in behind his protege, Nasrallah, that will not sit very well. I bet that speed dial is going haywire between those two. I can hear Ahmadinejad already: "Nasrallah, I taught you everything you know. I paid and continue to pay through the nose to keep you propped up and relevant, and here I am in 5th place. I wouldn't even count, if this were a horse race, and I simply will not hold still for it." Wouldn't it be ever so ironic, if Osama, the most dangerous man in the world were, in actuality, no longer even with us??? Then again, he may be hiding for the protection of his followers. As for the Mexicans who think Bush is so dangerous, those must be the ones who haven't made it to the US, yet. This poll, of course, should be good news for Israel: No longer is EVERYTHING the fault of the Jews. If the value of a country is determined by how many want in and how many leave, we're in fine shape, thanks, I suspect, in no small part to that dangerous cowboy of ours.
9. #2 Lynne, again you are wrong...
DR ,   Florida, USA   (11.04.06)
How are Iraq and Afghanistan "destructed"? Don't you mean destroyed? Both those countries have had democratic elections since the US took down Saddam ( a man who killed hundreds of thousands of people) and Al-Qqeida, a terror group. The reason Iraq is still a violent place is because of Muslim insurgents who only want to create chaos and death. So the fact that people like you only blame the US, makes me wonder if you really see and understand what is going on???
10. #6 i agree with you john

13. Calling good "evil"
DeeDee ,   Dallas USA   (11.04.06)
There is a saying: Woe to those who call evil "good" and good "evil." Stay the course, Bush. Ignore foolish speakers. Besides, live by the polls, die by the polls.

16. #12..John...
DR ,   Florida, USA   (11.04.06)
I know that free elections happened in two countries where elections were a thing of dreams. this made a lot of Iraqis and Afghanis happy. It's the first step towards their countries future. What you believe, is up to you, but reality on the ground is that the US is trully trying to help these countries. The fact that there are Muslim terrorists trying to derail any sort of effort, is not Bush's fault. I agree that our gov't could have made better decisions in raq, BUT to call them Neo-cons and comparing them to Hitler as some people do, helps no one.
17. Nu? - Londanistan
Jeff ,   Cherry Hill, NJ USA   (11.04.06)
At least UK leaders do not pander to their wacko constituents, like they do all too often in the USA and Israel. Thanks to USA, German is the official language only in Germany.
18. M. Hartley #8
John ,   USA   (11.04.06)
You're clueless. The 'dangerous cowboy" is why we can't get educated people to fill the universities anymore from abroad. Sure, we can get plenty of uneducated Mexicans to walk across the border. But by and large we only get economic refugees, don't kid yourself into thinking the US is the "land of the free" anymore, and everyone is dying to get here for "freedom" Reporters Without Borders rates the US media 57th behind the likes of places like Bosnia, Latvia, Estonia, Bolivia, Benin, Ghana, Bulgaria, South Africa, Chile, Mozambique,... and Israel. Don't think you know what's going on. http://www.rsf.org/rubrique.php3?id_rubrique=639

20. So easy to pull the wool over the eyes of a westerner these
D Goldwater ,   Auckland New Zealand   (11.04.06)
After a couple of decades of media brainwashing it is no wonder that we blame ourselves(the west) for all misdeeds in the world. Bush being the most prominant western leader is therefore up for most of this shtick. Bush is chastised for intefering in cases like Iraq, but only two weeks ago was attacked for not stopping the North Korean nuclear tests. I think the world should fear the scenario of an America that is humiliated into isolationism, as that will result in open slather for despots and dictators, something we saw in the 30's and 40's. Our western perception of the world is that fed to us by the Television mass media, it would appear that those agendas driving this media circus have succeded.
21. This is not right!
Maurice ,   Montreal, Quebec   (11.04.06)
It is a shame that the Guardian should organize a poll where Bush is compared with TRUE dictators/terrorists. Eventhough I may not agree with Bush's policies I do not think it is fair nor moral to put him in the same bag with dictators and terrorists such as Ahmadinejad and Bin Laden. After all in the US the President's decisions are overseen by the Congress and the Senate, and unless these bodies agree, his policies can not be carried out. Shame on the Guardian for being so innacurate and anti-American!
22. The U.S. should have puiied out of eurabia
jason white ,   afula,israel   (11.04.06)
years ago. Why place American soldiers in harm's way to protect the inferior europeons? Why waste hundreds of billions of dollars are such an ungrateful mob. They are ingrates and will always be that.
23. DR Florida CLICK THE LINK
John ,   USA   (11.04.06)
Did you read the link I provided? I guess not. If you had, you would see how the NEO CONS are now deserting Bush. In a nutshell, it says they thought Iraq was a great idea, but that it's been executed so incompetently that they changed their minds. Richard Perle says that with Reagan, "The President made the decisions." Under Bush, the system runs Bush. You should read the link, you'll change your mind.
24. Bush=bin Laden

M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (11.05.06)
Ah, it's always nice to be called "Clueless" by people who seem to claim a monopoly on "clue" that is only obvious to themselves. I don't get the connection between the polls in the article, the state of our press and the lack of educated people from abroad to fill our universities. Since you, however, brought it up, I, too, was one of those "economic refugees." I'll be forever thankful for the education this country afforded me, my children and now 7 grandchildren, the latter of which have or are on their way to degrees; and I'm not speaking of liberal arts degrees, either. I didn't come to this country for "freedom of speech, from or of religion, etc.," and I'd venture to guess that the majority of immigrants didn't come to this country to seek political asylum. Most of them were "economic refugees." Yet, they made this country what it is. Instead of blaming Bush or whomever else for the empty seats in universities, maybe we should dismantle the NEA and get back to educating our children instead of wasting time, money and effort on "politically correct." As for those uneducated Mexicans, I suggest you give them a few years. Their offspring might just fill up those universities to capacity. That is, of course, if we survive the cultural onslought that is taking its toll on Europe as we write. If that should succeed over here, we won't need much of a education, will we? But thank you for pointing out that I don't know what's going on. Now and then I delude myself into believing that I'm almost intelligent. But then again, the world is full of moonbats, who always bring me down to earth.

... and I still think we are much safer with the world's most powerful nuclear arsenal in the hands of the so-called "second most dangerous man" than any of the other four.

30. Should NOT Expect The Impossible !!
Maansingh ,   The Netherlands   (11.05.06)
69 percent of the British respondents FEEL that due to America's war in Iraq and Afghanistan - the world has become less safe than before 9/11. People should understand that while the fight is going on in Iraq and Afghanistan - you can NOT expect to experience peace. ONLY after the fighting will end - ONLY than will you see the dawn of peace. So, the 69 percent of the British respondent should NOT expect the impossible !! You can NOT expect peace - while the war is going on. So Britishers, be realistic. BTW it was Al-Qaeda who attacked America on 9/11 - and NOT the other way around. IF you want to blame - put the blame at the doorstep of Al-Qaeda. So people, be honest !!! And do not be weaklings !!! Against armed gangs - the Government should use arms !!! There is NO other way.
