1. Clear Provocation by Homos
Sammy ,   New York   (11.05.06)
The so-called "gay parade" is nothing less than a clear provocation against tens of millions of believing Jews, Christians, and Moslems. The organizers could have a peaceful, quiet march in many other cities and towns, but have deliberately chosen to flaunt their desire for sodomy and the like, not on the site of the biblical Sodom, but in the Holy City, home to the three major monotheistic faiths, all of which view homosexuality as a cardinal sin. Beilin's understanding of this issue is as poor as his understanding of the Middle East. There's nothing to be gained and everything to be lost by permitting this provocative march through religious neighborhoods.
2. Beilin YMS has brought death and destruction to Israel
Al   (11.05.06)
In another country he would tried for treason and shot. Yossi dreck Get lost.....
3. gay parade
joe ,   israel   (11.05.06)
100% correct. we cannot allow the religious jews to decide the agenda of our country.
4. gay pride
Izzy ,   Southfield, MI USA   (11.05.06)
keeping with biblical tradition, I think this should be moved to Sodom, near the dead sea. Nobody would be bothered by it there and it is the natural historical location for such an event
5. Sammy (1)
sk ,   USA   (11.05.06)
Sammy, dear, just because some frummie like you (and the Haredim) are provoked into a violent fury because they passionately, sincerely, violently hate gays, it doesn't follow that the gays are responsible. Incidentally, I don't give a hoot about two of those three "major monotheistic faiths." The Christians are there largely to convert the Jews; and the Muslims have dug out Solomon's Stables to create yet another mosque, and promote Jew-killing as a religion. I'll go futher. I think it's good that bigots like you are "provoked." I look forward to the time when the Haredim are forced to get a job, get off welfare, support their kids, and do army service. This time comes closer when the Jews in Black show their true colors. And nothing "provokes" that more than a peaceful gay parade. I am extremely sorry that I have to agree with Yossi Beilin.
6. What do you expect..................
Avraham ,   Israel   (11.05.06)
Yossi Beilin is one of them, what do you expect him to say? Cancel this ugly spectacle, it is an insult to Jerusalem & to Am Yisroel.
7. A failed politician now suggests gays raise families !
redmike ,   tel aviv & london   (11.05.06)
And why do so many journalists keep promoting this unwanted figure ? He is a minor, fringe politician that even his own party doesn’t want. There are many people with much more influence that they could write about.
8. Beliin
ajs ,   Ashdod   (11.05.06)
Just another Sh_thead.
9. the abomination is....
carol ,   tel aviv   (11.05.06)
YOU, yosi - are the abomination!!!!
10. Dreary, dull and grey articles
Jerusalem/TelAviv   (11.05.06)
as we expect from dreary, dull and grey people, who just have to see their name, come what may, in print. Unbelievable how it works for them. Yawn....as usual...
11. Out of the playbook of the Supreme Court
Ilan ,   Ariel   (11.05.06)
It seems that only by threatening violence can this can be accomplished. All the time the police with the Supreme Court's consent overrides the right to assemble. The danger to the public peace is used as the formal excuse to prevent Jews from approaching the Temple Mount very frequently. It seems that if there is a threat of violence (some party can always create a threat of violence) then suddenly things are cancelled. Perhaps if our Supreme Court taught lessons in democracy and not in demagogy we be better off. n.b. I'm not enthusiastic about the gay parade, but using violence to prevent it is not the way.
12. How about Vatican City
Anonymous ,   Jerusalem, IL   (11.05.06)
Why does the parade have to be in our holies city? Would anyone ever think of having the parade in St. Peters Square in Vatican City??? The message they want to express is much greater than just to feel open and that is the great abomination to have it in Jerusalem specifically more than anywhere else!
13. It is sin
Simantov ,   Jerusalem Israel   (11.05.06)
No matter how you look at this whole gay thing. It is sin. The God of Israel, the one who istablished Israel as a nation has declared what He has to say about such behaviour. 22Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. And again "13If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them" These people need to know that just like a murderer or a liar or a thief would want to parade their sin for all accept their behaviour. It is still sin at the end of the day. And the wages of sin is death eternally. So come in repentance and the G-d of Israel will forgive. Just acknowledge your sin and recognise there is no other G-d but the G-d of Israel. All others are false and lying. Even the god of the flesh which wants to demonstrate sin
14. Jerusalem Article by Yossi
Yitzhak ,   Israel,USA   (11.05.06)
U R twisting it! Gay = Sodom
15. Gay pride parade isn't 'sexual' and must not be cancelled
Michael ,   Caldwell, USA   (11.05.06)
It is NOT a parade of "decent" people as you claim, but rather it a self-deception and an insult to G-D in HIS chosen city that is deserving of HIS sure wrath!
16. Cancel Avraham.
sk ,   USA   (11.05.06)
I did not know Beilin was gay. If so, good. He has finally found an issue where he can speak intelligently.
17. redmike (7) doesn't know that gays already raise families.
sk ,   USA   (11.05.06)
Hey redmike, when do you think you'll figure out that gays do raise familes? After all, your father raised you.
18. LEGITIMACY AND RECOGNITION???
al mann ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (11.05.06)
The issue of legitimacy and recognition is only a symptom of the present judicio-political situation in Israel. Now this issue is applied to a gay parade. By the reaction of those, Moslem and Yisraelim, Mr. Beilin should have the capability of understanding that legitimacy will never be achieved. This is unlike the judicio-political situation in which governments and judges can change without the approval or assent of the citizenry. The citizen has the right to express his will, in a democracy, if he is against a parade of gays in Jerusalem, especially when the citizen still feels that there is some meaning to Jerusalem, as a holy city. Little by little, whatever meaning Israel has as a nation, and Jerusalem as a holy city is being torn away. The goal to be like other nations of the world has been accomplished. The only difference is in the language spoken. What other damage can be done in the name of democracy and human rights is to follow. These terms have been abused to the point at which the values of our heritage and past have been erased. Just as Torah, prayer, and custom and tradition have been totally devalued so too have the values of B'nai Yisroel. Learning our History is a waste of time since none of the past has been internalized and we have learned and applied nothing. There are those who have learned but have chosen to throw it away in the name of progress and modernity. We will pay a greater price for all the poor judgements and decisions. The nations of the world will not allow us to forget who we are or who we are supposed to be. The nations of the world don't want us but we haven't learned that after thousands of years. So stop the insidious liberality. Mr. Beilin knows the constitution of B'nai Yisroel. He should reapply what he has studied instead of misleading the people.
19. Dear Ynet
(11.05.06)
Instead of giving this boring person his say/(andPHOTO!!) with this non-article, print the interview with parents in today's 24 hours supplement on Cot Death. How on earth do you choose your material? Just because we're all tired Sunday morning, doesn't mean you have to punish us with this type of stuff. The gays too, must be cringing...with boredom and embarrasment, that this is the best you can do for them?
20. Beilin, Step Out
Nirod ,   Ninveh   (11.05.06)
Beilin the whole country knows you are in the closet. Step out already.
21. #5 sk, USA
Ely Greenhut ,   Jew from Jerusalem   (11.05.06)
You like gays so much so invite them to march through your neighborhood in frunt of YOUR HOUSE in the USA. Why should I have to put up with them in my neighborhood in Holy Jerusalem??

24. In Other Words, Yossi Beilin Meretz
H ,   Jerusalem   (11.05.06)
you claim this is not G-D's land given to the Jews and HE has no right giving us laws and commandments that are too hard for us to keep. As long as there is "love and tolerance" among us, we are considered "decent" people. And this should suffice You, G-d. G-d, You should be happy we don't murder and rob other people's belongings. That's all that counts in life. Now G-d, stay out of our personal life. And by the way, G-d, Leviticus Chapter 18 must be eradicated from Your Bible. There is no "love and tolerance" in that chapter. So out it goes, G-d. It's not for us, humans, to keep. These laws are good for animals. You should know, G-d, this is our own land we conquered in 1948 and it has nothing to do with You, G-d. And that's why we really have no right to this country because it was taken by force without "love and tolerance" and it should be returned to the Arabs. And that's why I and my Left-wing and Peace Now people will not fight the Arabs who come to murder us because it really belongs to them.
25. beilin right about only 1 thing: no violence in Jerusalem
dante ,   uk   (11.05.06)
beilin is wrong about everything else. but about the importance of avoiding violence, he is right. what people do privately is private. if they chose to make a public issue out of it, then, it is public; they have sown the wind, let them reap the whirlwind. one can't throw antinomian behavior in the face of people and recoil in shock and umbrage at their objection. beilin should grow up.
26. beilin
moshe ,   Jerusalem   (11.05.06)
I pray one day you will see sense before you are cast down from your haughtiness!! Try learn a bit from those who are wiser, older and humbler than you!
27. Civil Rights
cj ,   chicago usa   (11.05.06)
What about the civil rights of religious Jews? What rights do gays not have in Israel? What does marching achieve? How does it gain them acceptance? How does it gain them civil rights? Are you saying that Israel is the gay state rather than a Jewish state? Would it be okay if the nazis held a parade in Israel? Do they get civil rights? Why did you say nothing when a religious Jew was not allowed to blow the Shofar at the wall? Is he not entitled to get civil rights because the Muslims will be offended? Is this a Muslim state or a Jewish state? Is it true Liberalism is a disease? Seems like it.
28. #22
Anne   (11.05.06)
Wow They hate hareidim in Arizona too? No, can't be! That's real news. Bubele, to the goyim, we're all hareidim/jews.Even you darlin'.
29. Must be cancelled. Special character of Jerusalem
elianna ,   LA   (11.05.06)
The only people who want this parade in Jerusalem have no concept of the holiness of Jerusalem. Jerusalem is a special city who is not just for this generation or this fad of mixed up values. It is an ancient holy city whose future is in the hands a number of non-believing people who must be made to understand that the holy character of the city must be maintained. It is not Tel Aviv and not New York. What goes on in those city should never be allowed in Jerusalem.
30. Gay Rights
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (11.05.06)
I usually don't support Mr Beilin's ideas, but this time, he's right. But even if the parade was "sexual" - so what? What's wrong with sex? Anyone out there who doesn't have sex? Is there anything that gays do that straights don't? I can't think of any particular sexual behavior that gays do that straights don't. It's a mirror image. Why don't the Haredim riot over the sexual behavior of the straight population? Considering the behavior I've seen in many nightclubs, straight behavior hardly conforms to Haredi standards of morality. The reason is that they would get no support, everyone would laugh at them. But picking on a minority that already has prejudice against them is so much easier. Playing on irrational fears & sexual ignorance is pretty unscrupulous.
