1. Haredim - a disgrace to the Jewish people
Sidney ,   USA   (11.07.06)
Using violence to enforce their religious rules makes them no better than the ayatollahs and mullahs.
2. This Parade insults Judiaism, Islam, and Chrisianity.
Kissel   (11.07.06)
Not in the Holiest City on Planet Earth.
3. Why are these people not arrested?
Marcus   (11.07.06)
Throwing stones at someone, whether you hit them or not, is attempted murder. They should be arrested and put on trial. Or are the haredim exempt from the law as well as from paying taxes and serving in the military? Perhaps we could ship them into the west bank or gaza strip and they could start their own theocratic haredim state. I'm sure a well performed pusla would clear the land or the palestinians currently occupying the land. If they can curse fellow jews, why not others?

5. #1,3 The Haredim Learned From the VIOLENT PeaceNow AntiFence
H ,   Jerusalem   (11.07.06)
activists how to get their way. Throwing stones, bottles, etc. at police, is the way to do it. Have you Leftists forgotten how many police were hospitalized with these Loving Kindness? So now, all you Leftists, WHO are the violent ones?
6. to #1 Sidney
motti ,   beit shemesh israel   (11.08.06)
take a look at the image #4 sent and tell me that is not a "disgrace to the Jewish people" . All this parade is about is spitting in the face of anything sacred. That is why they want it in jerusalem. 90% of the residents do NOT want the parade in their streets. Take it to Europe or Tel aviv where aything goes. what is next, beastiality, child porn? at least the Chareidim are concerned about their community. The Gay rights movement is about self gratification.
7. Dear marcus #3
motti ,   beit shemesh israel   (11.08.06)
they did try to live in Gaza and the west bank. remember you leftists burned down their homes, schools and shuls. the protests supporting Gush katif were the most peacefull demonstrations ever. did it help?
8. #3
enzo ,   london,uk   (11.08.06)
Marcus, I agree with your first three lines, but not with the last four, which I find grossly inappropriate.
9. #4 Thanks For Posting That Photo
H ,   Jerusalem   (11.08.06)
While the police and some ministers are anxiously looking forward to these obscene sights, perhaps someone out there would give them to understand why this parade should not take place in the HOLY CITY of JERUSALEM.
10. reminds me of the mohammed cartoons riots
john ,   Canada   (11.08.06)
so seems its a human nature ro riot and act crazily when something they dont like happens. There is no difference between a jew , muslim or christian after all.
11. No 4 - you liar - the image is not from a Jerusalem march...
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (11.08.06)
12. ENOUGH!
Daniel ,   Tel Aviv   (11.08.06)
ANYONE who throws stones at a people is breaking the law and should be jailed! And for those of you with your religious theocratic bigotry who can not differntiate Jerusalem the political capital of Israel from the Holy City of Jerusalem I say close your doors shutter your windows open a Torah,Koran, or whatever religous book floats your boat and read it while the parade passes by. No one is forcing you to witness it and it is NOT going into Mea Shearim or the Old City. Which in my view is now too bad! A good gay protest march into Mea Shearim with a peaceful sit in might be just what these violent fundies need to see. How horrifying to see men touching other men or women touching other women...or even more frightening female ...dare I say it bare .....elbows and ...knees! If the Haredim could be shocked and horrified enough they might finally join the human race in the 21st Century. Otherwise they might as well go back to the Shtetl they must so admire.
13. 11 (Andy), 4 posts the same lie on the Feiglin
sk ,   USA   (11.08.06)
opinion piece. And supid people like H, who desperately, passionately hate gay people, lap it up. Let's see ... a lie against a fellow Jew that promotes hatred ... now help me guys ... Rechilut?
14. Gay Parade
Bonnie ,   New York   (11.08.06)
Why can't we all live together peacefully? This hatred of Jew against Jew is what caused the destruction of the Beit Hamikdash.
15. Time to calm the tension
Steve ,   USA   (11.08.06)
B"H This is a parade people. Close your doors, let it go by, and do not compromise the entire city over a silly parade. Yes, the Holy City is not an idol. There are people living there and outside with imperfections. We are not idols. And these people are demonstrating immorality. But we Jews need to be double careful not to get out of hand ourselves. And pelting Mayors does not seem proper to me. I think a red line has been crossed, and we all need to sit back and calm down a little bit. The emotion has taken over and this is not healthy for the community. Open violence between man and man is not better than hidden violence between man and man on this issue. We need to channel anger in a better manner and get past this issue. Take a vacation. Visit the north. Enjoy the morning sunshine. But these attacks are not a good result for those who are protesting immorality. It cannot be that people in this age are unable to stroll the streets without fear in Jerusalem, especially a mayor of such a city.
16. To nbr 1 # Sydney
Hiram ,   Billund   (11.08.06)
Sydney.....Haredim are Haredim...indeed a marginal fringe in the same fashion Islamist marginals are...marginal compared to the whole......It is true that besides the obvious obscurantism that these people are promoting along with intolerance, the key issue ( Like in the arab countries) is the weight of religion that this country carries on its shoulder. The Gay Pride issue is the " emerging tip" of a much bigger iceberg : Israel has not yet understood that in order to efficiently run a country, the affairs of religion and the affairs of the state must be separated. Untill things change, we will unfortunately have to deal with witch hunters who believe that because they wear a kippa, keep their women at home, and treat the rest of the world with contempt, they will be on a mission from God with God's approval ! Religion cannot be imposed upon people here , no more than in the rest of the Middle East. The only progress in the issue with the gay community is that here, Gays are not ( yet ) hanged like they are in some arabic countries ( iran for instance ). There should be a stop to this attitude but only major political changes can take care of it andf these changes would mean an end stop to buying religious support in order to make up any government ! An endless quest !
17. #11 Read the writing on the wall
tma   (11.08.06)
Take a look at the sign the young man on the right is holding. It reads "lets make a hole in the wall and f*** it". What "wall" could he be referring to? I'm sure 100% this picture was taken in Jerusalem. This parade should not take place. Shame on the homos!!!
18. #6 Motti
Sidney ,   USA   (11.08.06)
In your response to me are you justifying violence? Freedom means freedom for all even those with bad behavior. If you know Jewish history you know that jews do best in free societies.
19. Parade gays rude, no reason to be in face of religious Jews.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Santa Monica,CA USA   (11.08.06)
20. Ynet Poll
Mordey Cohen ,   Sydney Australia   (11.08.06)
On a current ynet poll (although, it may not be a scientific poll, but never the less a poll) 71% say NO it in Jerusalem, I hate to say this, but theis is not democratic. Religious dont want it, and they live in the city not these leftists, if they want to expose these obsceine images like number 4, take the parade to Tel Aviv of Haifa, but Jerusalem, just to anger Hashem! We dont want another Lebanon war.
21. Charedim are heroes!
P. ,   Jerusalem   (11.08.06)
This most deprived group of the Israel population fights courageously not for any material gains, but for sustaining the Jewish moral values, on which the modern civilization is based. They sacrifice themselves in the unequal struggle against the mighty secular anti-Jewish state and its repressive bodies. Charedim are the Maccabees of our time! They will win because G-d is with them.

23. Anybody
Sagi ,   Israel   (11.08.06)
in the State of Israel who attacks in any matter whatsoever an elected official or an appointed person of authority whether in uniform or not should be sentenced to jail, with a mandatory sentence of minimum 5 years. This should be a law passed by the Knesset. Anybody who does not like this law or any other law of the State and intends to act in violence should preempt and hand in his passport and ID, goodbye.
24. GAY PRIDE IN JERUSALEM
KUPERTY ,   PARIS, FRANCE   (11.08.06)
as A CHAZAN from an Orthodox Synagogue in PARIs not HAREDI I have fourtimes ARIEL SHARON in PARIs as Construction Minister for a private ceremony involving his family I am sure that ARIEL SHARON would have forbidden this ashamed parade taking place EREV CHABATH in JERUSALEM IR HAKOIDECH, the HOLY CITY for the great three monotheist religions in the WORlD, ADAM was created a erev Chabath Friday the same as EVE in the Garden of EDEN but CHABATH VAYNAFACH Chabath ADAM and EVE rested so let' usr espect the Holyness of JERUSALEM .. How can the GOYIM respect us HOUTS LAHARETZ Cantor Chazan Daniel KUPERTY PARIS, France Ministre Officiant if we, Jews don't respect our own religion with JERUSALEM above our heads" and singing together"IM ECHKAHECH YEROUCHALAYIM TICHKAH YEMINI" I have sent a personal email to MR. EHOUD OLMERT regarding tee position that would have surely taken Prime Minister ARIEL SHARON if he would still be in "action".
25. #10, let's get real
Avi ,   hilltop, Israel   (11.08.06)
You think hareidi rioting and Muslim rioting are the same? Well let's compare them, shall we? Some cartoons get published in Denmark, and thousands of Muslims riot as far away as Pakistan, with a death toll of dozens. Anti-Semitic cartoons and far worse get published every day all over the world and Jews don't riot. A parade intended to legitimise and normalise an abomination is to be held in the heart of our holy city, and you get riots with a total of a few injured. Now imagine a gay pride march in Mecca, and tell me again that "There is no difference between a jew , muslim or christian after all."
26. people wake up!
janet ,   israel   (11.08.06)
i dont understand these heradim. is it not writen in the bible to love your neigbours? do unto others as u would unto yourself. if you disagree with this parade, then stay out of the streets for those few hours, but to behave like raging lunatics!come on people wake up. surely there are more important issues on our plates. and why hurt each other over a country that its citizens are killing anyway, with polution . have you ever been to har miron after the heradim have been there to cut their hair, ever seen the litter they leave behind. save our country from littler. thats a far wiser cause. p.s i am a proud lesbian who is not marching out of respect to these people who have no respect for others.
27. #11, The surroundings in the photo looks like Jerusalem
Sharon ,   Tel Aviv   (11.08.06)
and the drawing of a wall indicates it is indeed inside the holy city. The proof is that the parade has been held in the capital over the last 5 years. So if anyone here is a liar, it would have to be YOU.
28. Motti from Beit Shemesh
Meir Moses   (11.08.06)
These Haredim do not or have ever lived in Gush Katif or the West Bank. They may have an opinion on it, some may get involved, Elyashiv may give yet another meaningless and stupid 'Pulsa' as if he is Hashem himself...but do not confuse things. The rioting Haredim do not care for the State of Israel, it's institutions or even moderate religious Jews - in fact many are strongly anti-Zionist. Do you condone them attacking Lupolianski? Many Modern Orthodox do not appreciate the parade...but they are not protesting because they actually understand 'Hillul Hashem', that violence gainst Jews -- ANY JEW -- is not sanctioned and they understand what an own goal for the Haredim this is.
29. (11) In the photo we see marchers with western wall drawings
Michael Ross ,   Tel Aviv   (11.08.06)
So as obscene as the drawings may be, why would marchers in a Tel Aviv parade be holding placards with sketches of the western wall? There is no doubt in my mind that the march we see in that photo took place in Jerusalem, unless you can prove otherwise Andy, you really have no idea what you are talking about, as usual :-)
30. 1. THESE rubbish unpleasant chareidim
Anna   (11.08.06)
who are probably unhappy to be chareidim , ONLY THESE, not the normal decent happy ones, are petrified in case homosexuality has or will affect their own children. So in THEIR usual fashion, they lash out, which is their usual mode of behaviour/education, in order to scare the living daylights out of their own kids. 2. What I still don't understand though, is why on earth there has to be a MARCH of the homos. Shows that THEY THINK there's something wrong with them. I'm left handed, and it's certainly often a problem, so let's march. Pathetic, no?
