Steve ,   USA   (11.08.06)
B"H Protecting the march is sinful is the thrust of the article. Does that mean, though, that protecting marchers is sinful? Is marching a capitol crime in the Torah? I understood it was a specific act between a man and a man that was a capitol crime, but that walking was not a capitol crime. Perhaps I am not understanding the torah clearly. Can someone knowledgeable educate me on these fine points?

When I see these religious Jews behaving like thugs I become repulsed by all "religions."

H ,   Jerusalem   (11.08.06)
who are the only Jews observing all the commandments G-d has given us, the Jewish people would have long disintegrated. What makes a Jew different than a non-Jew? I understand, you, Leftists or secular Jews would have loved to be born by non-Jewish mothers and be like the goyim, but G-d wanted differently. He created you Jewish because He wants something from you. He wants you to be Jewish and the way a Jew should act - religiously, modestly and decently and, most importantly, be faithful to Him. If you look at the Orthodox Jews as violent, that's only because there is no other way to get through to this government (as the Peace Now and other Leftists movement have proven - in order to get their views heard, they acted violently causing many police to get hurt). G-d rewarded Pinhas (a religious fanatic, as you seculars would probably call him) even though he actually murdered an immoral person. According to G-d, immorality destroys the world and Pinhas did the right thing. He, therefore, deserves to be rewarded. The Flood (which "coincidently" occurred yesterday, the 17th of Cheshvan) was also because of immorality. We, orthodox Jews, fear G-d's wrath again and that's why we go out in full force to stop this abomination. May G-d listen to our prayers and help us preserve His honor.
8. #1 - you freakin liar - this is not in Jerusalem....

nor would it ever be.
9. Didn't Avraham Avinu fight for GAYS?
Netanel BenChaim ,   New York   (11.08.06)
I am against this parade in Jerusalem. Stll, didn't our father the prophet Avraham fight for Sodom in Lech Lecha and pray for Sodom in Vaera? He certainly did not throw burning garbage.
10. #1 Good example. KOL HAKAVOD, hoewver--
Ely Greenhut ,   Jerusalem Israel   (11.08.06)
These selfish hatefuls are doing this only to hurt the religious Jews in Jerusalem. 12000 policemen have to protect these evils. What protection, if urgently needed, will Israelis get in other cities in Israel as a result thatthe police from their cities are being taken for this worthless parade. ??? WHAT A WASTE OF PRECIOUS TAX SHEKELS only to protect these evil sinners.
11. Why In Jerusalem?
Hillel Ben Melekh ,   New York   (11.08.06)
The one question that should be asked by those who support this action is, why in Jerusalem? The answer is that the gay movement is not intersted in the advancement of equality for themselves as they profess. This move is to confront others who consider what they do as abominable. The need to force their ideology on those who oppose them is the height of intolerance, and the need to 'parade' their 'lifestyle' in the heart of Jerusalem is an act that speaks for itself. I wonder how 'tolerant' the left would be if the religious paraded through the hearts of Tel Aviv in the attempts to educate them in a lifestyle that they themselves reject?
12. #9 Who ever said that?!
Michael U ,   SF,CA   (11.08.06)
I have never heard it said that our great father Avraham ever, ever tried to protect the immoral behaviour of the inhabitants of Sodom. And if you ever pick up a Chumash you may learn the real story. Avrahams relation, Lot, whom Avraham already had problems was living in the land of Sodom. It is because his relation Lot lived there that Avraham implored Hashem to not destroy it. He asked that if 50 righteous men lived in Sodom could it be saved, then it was lowered to 40, 30, 20, and down to 10 righteous men. Only if 10 righteous men could be found would Sodom be saved. None the less, he couldnt find the 10 righteous men so all he could do was save Lot, his wife and his two daughters... So no... Avraham did not try to save the immoral theives and prostitutes of Sodom....

Bush   (11.08.06)
Avraham was not fighting for Sedom he was fighting to save his nephew Lot who was captured with the whole sedom community He also prayed for the city not to be destroyed because perhaps there were righteous people living there. He was not praying for gays he was praying for the righteous there G-d told him there was no righteous and He destroyed it.

15. #11 waste of Tax Shekels
Marcus   (11.08.06)
This is only as much as waste of tax money as maintaining the haredim is, while they spend their days doing nothing productive at the expense of the taxpayers. And the only reason this money needs to be wasted at all is because the taxpayer's money is being spent to support the haredim. If the haredim weren't supported by taxpayer money, they would have to work and wouldn't have time to mount these silly protests against a parade. So the answer's simple: cut off taxpayer funding to the loafing haredim. They should work for a living like everyone else.
16. Brave men
marilyn   (11.09.06)
It is really lovely to hear men who love Gods word speaking out, Do you know how rare that is. In some western countries fear has paralysed religious Leaders from speaking up, due to political correctness and they have slinked off under a rock somewhere, and left it up to the little sheep to protest and of course we have been skinned and thrown around as the press allowed the 'gay' activist to rip into us. Because they attacked the individual but we attacked the action.
17. Ynet writes
Bush ,   USA   (11.09.06)
Ynet writes Several haredi MK's say that they received a threatening letter from the gay community. "For every participant who is hurt," the letter reportedly said, "10 religious girls will be raped. We swear to exact revenge on you. Consider yourselves warned." The MK's say that the letter was signed 'Proud Gays.' I am sorry but this has gone too far. Is the govt so stupid to bring upon us a civil war and blame it on the religious when they could have done it in TA. What a stupid govt. Anyways they should threaten the boys not the girls. Would they rape arab girls if the arabs do anything to them?
18. why not in Jerusalem?
Vitaliy, Esq. ,   NJ   (11.09.06)
Is Jerusalem the capital of Israel or Tel Aviv the capital of Israel??? If it is in fact Tel Aviv, that's one thing. Then the Parade can be done there. Just don't forget that Jerusalem will be negotiable in that case... If it is in fact Jerusalem that is the capital, then please realize that it is not a sacred cow, but the place where a citizen can voice their concerns. Just remember that this does not include burning trash and calling to violence.
19. # 17
Marcus   (11.09.06)
That's what makes it rediculous and obviously fake. Why in the world would gay men rape women? Never mind the mental effort it would take just to get to the point of doing it. The fact is, gays tend to be non-violent, which is far more than can be said for the religious. Most criminals, violent and non-violent, like most pedophiles and most rapists are straight, and mostly straight men at that. It's in straight men's nature, just like warfare.
20. ANY OTHER COUNTRY...
Slonimski ,   Paris, France   (11.09.06)
Israel is under attack of Hamas, Fatah, Hizbullah, not to mention Syria and Iran. In other country, gay citizens would know this is not exactly the appropriate moment to stage a parade in a holy city. In any other country, the government would ban the parade for plain security reasons, and basta. Not so Israel. Israel is so smart. So stupid. Oh, may I add a last remark ? Gays say straight people must take them as they are. I agree. As long as they agree to take religious people as they are, and to show some concern and respect for the very special character of Jerusalem.
21. #20
Marcus   (11.09.06)
If this is the wrong time for the gays to march (and when in the past 50 + years has Israel not been under threat from it's neighbours), then it is also the wrong time for the haredim and other conservative religious jewish groups to be organizing protests or frankly doing much of anything. The haredim should put down their torahs and pick up a gun and get ready to defend themselves, their neighbours and the country they live in. But of course they won't do that, because it's only the wrong time for the gays to march.
22. Scripture considers it idol worship.
kurt ,   san diego ca   (11.09.06)
Regarding homosexual behavior, Scripture considers it idol worship. In this day and age we need to allow religious courts and public stoning to deal with homosexuals. Then Israel would rid themselves of this evil as they did in biblical times. After a few stones thrown, males who wish to serve their Idols, would live in fear, and be forced to take their pagan worship elsewhere, or simply stop it.
23. Good Goyim, Bad Gayim
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (11.09.06)
"Vatican urges Israel to ban Jerusalem gay parade By Robin Pomeroy Wed Nov 8, 2:36 PM ET The Vatican has condemned a gay pride parade due to be held in Jerusalem on Friday as offensive to religious believers and urged Israeli authorities to stop it taking place. "It is with bitterness that we have learned that the day after tomorrow, November 10, 2006, there is scheduled in Jerusalem a so-called 'gay pride parade'," the Vatican said in a statement issued on Wednesday. etc." ------------ If it has come to the point where the Vatican has to publicly come out against immorality like this in Israel, we must all be ashamed of how far our secular brethren have fallen. Congratualations to the Church. You have a hundred times more Seichel than our Supreme Court.

why have the secular fallen?
25. Stereotype
SL ,   New York   (11.09.06)
The sector in the Israeli religioius represented by this group is small, and the photograph attached to the story is of a haredi Jew and not a member of this sector. Not that facts matters to YNet, anymore.

27. Jerusalem new Gay Capital of the world
Sweetcheeks ,   New York   (11.09.06)
Thanks to the overwhelming support of the Israeli government and secular Jews, the Sodomite Society and the International Gay Pride Movement have chosen Jerusalem to be the new Gay World Capital. Israel will now enjoy the benefits of hundreds of thousands of gay folk flocking to Jerusalem for vacations, visits to holy cites, buying property and opening new businesses. Thousands of new jobs will be created and neighborhoods will be filled with wonderful, loving gay people. The haredi will just have to accept sodomites as we are here to stay and more are on the way... to Jerusalem!
28. #24 - A Response
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanan, Israel   (11.09.06)
You ask me: "why have the secular fallen?" In my opinion, once they untied the knot, everything fell out. The knot is our bond with G-d and Torah, its Laws, its morality, its ethics, its connection with the Divine, and so forth. "Secular" really means a rejection of G-d and the commitment to observe His Laws and Ways. Once a person believes that he has no obligation to the Higher Authority, he frees himself from all restraints. All he has is the fear of man and man's punishments to stop him from becoming an animal. Sometimes, he may even have a conscience or a touch of respet, but that is not always the case. He has untied his knot and is now a free man, unrestricted and uninhibited. You can take it from here.....

Avraham avinu prayed for the salvation of the righteous quorem in Sodom. Once Hashem made it clear that there was none, he withdrew his opposition.
30. sanhedrin ruling
Frank ,   London   (11.09.06)
B''H I am surprized that the YNET did not provide the link to the ruling: http://www.thesanhedrin.org/en/legal/psak5767Cheshvon17.html The ruling is published here and it is extemely well argued from the halachic point of view. The nascent sanhedrin is gradually evolving into the supreme religious court, that will probably surpass the authority of secularly chosen chief rabbis. Both R Eliashiv and R Ovadia Yoseph (till 120) are still recognized as the supreme decisors for the ashkenas and spharad communities. But the feeling is that the nascent sanhedrin will pick up the mantle of leadership. Particularly, as the majority of Shomrei Mitzvos Jews are already living in Israel.
