1. Goverment should be there
Rebab ,   Israel   (11.09.06)
Our government only sends the Army, they should ALL go there, to Sderot, to ask the International Community for Peace, our children can not live for ever in shelters...Let the Goverment stop the less important things that their neighbor's life (Min of Security).
2. Qassam attacks
Joe Simon ,   Kfar Aviv, Israel   (11.09.06)
The "Palestinians" have nothing to complain about. They declared war against Israel. During this war a mistake was made and some innocent people together with the terrorists that were hiding among them got killed. The firnng of the Qassams into Israel is not a mistake but a definite attempt to maim and kill innocent civilians. What is this? They are allowed to murder us, but we qre not allowed to defend ourselves? Forget it! After this, any target among the "Palestinians" is a legitimate one. They have nothing to complain about. After all, they are the ones that started the war in the first place.
3. accident
I do care   (11.09.06)
This is amazing. 15 shells hit several apartments and killed inocent children and women who tried to hide from the first shell and you still say accident and mistake. Really the world is sick of your lies. some body has to be judged for all these crimes and the world is saying nothing. Zionists are the problem of the world

Again and again and again I can tell you that the real responsible people are Hamas and all terrorist organisitions who clearly do not want peace and instead seek to destroy Israel. They declared war against Israel and sometimes you seem to forget that you are at war. (Otherwise you would not complain now). You also forgot already that your people voted for Hamas so why are you upset? If you want a better world you have following options: 1. Start a peace-seeking movement and convince your brethern that your and their fight is a "lost fight". 2. If you see that 1. is not possible then leave and find yourself a better place than the Middle-East. 3. If 1. and 2. are not possible then shoot yourself.
5. It would be Christian for us
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (11.09.06)
to turn the other cheek and absorb qassam after qassam on schools and homes without response. But, we are Jews. We have learned that our Arab friends haven't learned. They haven't learned that this entire tragedy is because they bomb us and punch us and bother us and hurt us and harm us. No. You have declared war and by so doing and you must calculate its costs if want to engage in it with us. Bet Hanoun was one of your variable costs. You should have known it could happen. I am not happy that it did. I am sorry for the human lives which were lost. I am sorry for the pain and sorrow you have to suffer as a result. But, the bottom line is that it is your own fault. Stop with your qassams and provocations and threats and we can move forward. It all begins with you.
6. Unfortunate for the IDF that no arab villages in the south
(11.09.06)
to be used as human shields.
7. The Poor responce
Atilla Karagözoğlu ,   Istanbul / Tukey   (11.09.06)
It is. what should be done ? man, woman, children who can hold a gun MUST BE ANNOUNCE FOR WAR. than show the direction of Israel. THIS IS A MUST. FOR A HONORABLE NATION. AS LONG AS PALISTINE DOESNT FACE THIS, THEY WILL GET BEATEN UP. But if they start a war with every each man, women, children they have against to Israel, I am sure many things will be change. WAR is a must. THEY MUST HAVE A LEADER THAT WHO WILL SHOW THEM THE DIRECTION OF ISRAEL TO DIE. That is what I feel. I have nothing with the people of Israel BUT Israel 's politicians. You see ! we just cant stay cool and with understanding. Israel is lucky to have an enemy as arabics. very lucky. we have good relation with Israel as a nation. personally, I hate the leaders of Israel as much as I hate the arabics leaders. Sincerely Atilla Karagözoğlu Not: Sure we dont like see any fight. I just wanted let you know what I think as a friend of normal jews.

11. #5 - Obviously you don't know Christianity.
Darren ,   Tampa, FL USA   (11.09.06)
Dear Reuven: You said: "It would be Christian for us to turn the other cheek and absorb qassam after qassam on schools and homes without response." The "turn the other cheek" is misunderstood not only by you, but even by many Christians. First of all that "directive" does not apply to GOVERNMENTS who have biblical authority to wield the sword to protect its population from within and without. Jesus was talking to the individual. And even when that is understood that it applies only to individuals as a directive, they still misunderstand the directive for it does NOT mean that a Christian can not fight back. Christians have biblical authority for self-defense and the defense of others. One has to understand the context of said directive AND the culture, i.e. Jewish. You know ancient Jewish culture right? :) In Matthew's version, Jesus says "if a man slaps you upon the right cheek, then turn the other to him as well" (5:39). This means that if someone insults you, don't return the insult. For a slap upon the right cheek is not an assault or an attack as understood then in Jewish culture. Assuming that your opponent is right-handed, an actual punch thrown as an attack would land on your left cheek, not on your right. Given that it is described as a slap, and that it lands on your right cheek, the situation described is one where your opponent has given you a symbolic insult--the back of his right hand. He has not attacked or assaulted you. Jesus is not forbidding us to defend ourselves when attacked; he is urging us to ignore insults and to foreswear revenge. His command comes in the specific context of an injunction against revenge and retaliation. It would be perfectly consistent for Jesus to go on to say "Of course if you do happen to be attacked, use whatever force is necessary to defend yourself". A justified blow struck in self-defense is not wrong; it does not violate the attacker's rights. So if a Christian is insulted, let it go. But if attacked or a loved one is attacked, a Christian has ever right to strike back in self-defense or the defense of others. Such response is not deemed to have "wronged" someone. However, if execessive , i.e. unjustified force, is used, then yes that would be deemed a "wrong". This is my Christian perspective.

Thank you for your explanation which sounds reasonable and valid. I stand corrected! I accept your comments. You did good. RB
13. breach of trust
(11.09.06)
they taught the IDF how to use the arab villages in the north as human shields. Now the IDF is not thankful, even betrayed their trust.
14. #12 Reuven - Turn the other cheek
Darren ,   Tampa, FL USA   (11.10.06)
Dear Reuven, Thank you and in addition: My understanding is that when Jesus saying (after being backhanded, i.e. slapped..insulted) on the right cheek to "turn the other cheek" means that by turning the left cheek it was like an invitation with a warning. Turning to the right cheek would then require a punch by the right handed assailant using his right hand. It was a signal or sign of saying "now hit me again bud" which was a wrong that would be justified with a response. Like a "now I dare you." I also understand there were penalties in ancient Israeli culture for a man to strike a slave using his fist, as opposed to a back hand slap, that would warrant punishment by the authorities. But most Christians, i.e. the wimpy ones who are pacifists, dont' understand what Jesus was REALLY saying and implying. Perhaps understandably so, since they are not familiar with the Jewish culture that was in place at the time and/or context in which Jesus made those remarks. I can understand your original comment for I too struggled with the "turn the other cheek" comment by Jesus until I did some further investigation. Again my Christian perspective..
15. #12 - Jesus a Pacifists or Warrior???
Darren ,   Tampa, FL USA   (11.10.06)
Dear Reuven, I just love how many Christians make Jesus into an effeminate hair flowing white flowing robe sissy white boy in their pictures of Him. Jesus was a Jew & I assume looked like the Jews of the time with a dark skinned complexion. Jesus was a carpenter with muscles developed from using carpentry tools & callouses and splinters in his hands. No offense meant, but let me add a few verses about Him from the Old Testament. I know Jews, non-messianic Jews, do not believe these verses apply to Him, but please bear with me. Even if I am in error in believing that they do, by my sharing them with you, you might understand my "concept" of Jesus. The Prophet Isaiah said: ISA 53:1 Who has believed our message? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed? 2 For He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, And like a root out of parched ground; He has no stately form or majesty That we should look upon Him, Nor appearance that we should be attracted to Him. 3 He was despised and forsaken of men, A man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; And like one from whom men hide their face, He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. ISA 53:4 Surely our griefs He Himself bore, And our sorrows He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, Smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed. 6 All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on Him. Reuven, notice how the verses refer to whom I believe is Jesus the Messiah, by saying that "He has no stately form or majesty That we should look upon Him, Nor appearance that we should be attracted to Him." In otherwords, instead of being a sissy pretty boy, he wasn't good looking. Speaking of Him being tough, I do believe that the "Lord" mentioned on occassion in the Old Testament is in fact Jesus Himself referred to as a warrior! Exodus 15:2 "The LORD is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation; This is my God, and I will praise Him; My father's God, and I will extol Him. 3 "The LORD is a warrior; The LORD is His name. Isaiah 42:13 The LORD will go forth like a warrior, He will arouse His zeal like a man of war. He will utter a shout, yes, He will raise a war cry. He will prevail against His enemies. As a Christian, I worship the Lord, a warrior, who albeit being a warior, He came the first time as a baby as Christians understand OT prophetic scripture, along with the written testimony of His life as told by the Jewish apostles/diciples who believed He was the Promised One, i.e. the Messiah. Christian believe His Second Coming will be to RESCUE ISRAEL who HE loves. I say all that for I have seen talkbacks that were pretty distrusting of Christians. The distrustful talkbacks, usually are referring to Armageddon & that we can make it happen or speed it up AND that "our" Messiah is going to wreck havoc on Israel. Such belief is further from the truth. When He comes He is coming to RESCUE Israel not destroy her. The Messiah will destroy the enemies that surround here, who would destroy Israel but for the Messiah's Return. What role, if any, the U.S. will play, most "honest" Christians would say they don't simply know. Whatever, the role of the U.S., if any, Israel, I believe, will have to be in a position that she is in such dire circumstances surrounded by her enemies to destroy her, that she can ONLY look to God, for only He is their refuge, and when they look up at this time, they will see THEIR promised Jewish Messiah arriving in Great Glory with His Heavenly armies and as a Warrior will destroy the enemies of Israel, rescuing her, and gathering her like a hen does her chicks, loving her, & setting His Throne in Jerusalm forever. Again my Christian perspective
