feel uncomfortable. Israel isn't all doom and gloom - Iraq isn't our business and Eitan Haber talks a load of gibberish
2. Cue the chickenhawks.
Michael Steiner   (11.12.06)
Now wait for a deluge of fascists on here who'll scream that the only way to stave off the situation described by the author is to get into more and more bitter conflicts. Mar Haber is absolutely right. We must find allies in the region; and Mubarak is more naturally our ally than that of radical Islam. Idiot Livni has to go and pronto. Just remember her recent cancelling of a visit to Qatar, a very moderate Arab state. And yes, we need to disengage already from the Palestinian people and let them lead their own lives, however they choose to do so. Respond decisively if they attack us within the Green Line but continuing our unwanted presence in their population centers will lead to a disaster. Withdraw from Golan, too, and those farms. Once we are behind our legitimate borders, we will have peace: not necessarily real peace for a while but a peace of mind.

Point one, you propose a policy of weakness. The world, the peoples and countries of the world are a game, in any game if you show weakness your are overwhelmed, in our case we will be devoured. Point two, Israel has no legitimate borders other than with the International Community ( the sea ) and with Egypt ( defined and agreed upon by both sides ). All other borders are armistice lines yet to be agreed upon, redrawn or redefined. Israel has been proposing this since 1949 ( Rhodes ). The answer has always been "no thank you, we wish you dead and gone".

Yisraeli   (11.12.06)
is just giving us a gentle warning. I happen to agree with him, 2007 will be a pivotal year. I predicted this to my closest friends and warned them about 2007 already 6 years ago. To be honest I hope I am wrong for when I say pivotal it does not mean pleasant by any means. I just hope we come out at the other end stronger and safer. I dont necessarily agree with his 'solutions' yanni appeasing these so called moderates, thats just self deception and illusion.

The world is a game of power. If you don't kill them they'll kill YOU. Ha ha ha! I've been saying that for ages, my dark one! Go on and shine for me, majestically! All my soldiers, march! Go and tell them We wish you dead and gone!

tlz ,   west Bank   (11.12.06)
We're in deep now and I think no matter what path we take there are so many variables that its hard to know how it all will play out. I say, let's be as moderate as security will allow and PRAY for safer times.
11. Haber is correct -Israel must appease the Arabs to get Peace

Yeah, it is so simple in your simple world. So just keep giving away land that equates with Israel's security and gives the islamofacists more of what they want; closer to the heart of Israel and their goal of every Jew dead and Israel wiped off the map. That is all Israel has done and it has gotten them nowhere! You think the arabs will stop at that? Then you are a bigger fool than the words you posted in your thread. Sorry, it is the islamofacists who need to stop shooting missles, sending HOMICIDE bombers to kill all the innocent Jews they can, where ever they can, stop digging tunnels to smuggle arms, the world needs to stop turning a blind eye to hizbullah rearming in Lebanon, Nations like france, and other cowardly european nations need to stop saying they "support" Israel when they truly back the arabs and their drive to eliminate Israel and I could go on and on. No Israel is not without fault but when you are surrounded by milions of HOSTILE arabs who want your land, land that was REALLY Israel's long before the arabs even showed up! So don't speak to us about arrogance until you take care of it in your own house, ZD!
15. Re #2: To the left or right
Steve ,   USA   (11.13.06)
B"H Michael, I keep on looking at you as a left-wing propopogandist. But as I think about it, I think you are more right-wing oriented than I supposed. I am concerned however in the way that your suppositions are positioned. I saw the Gaza giveaway as the surest path to war, whereas the proponents were passing it off as the next peace move. Sure enough, there was war from the north, in Lebanon. Similarly, with any further ripping up of Jews, it is surely a recipe for another war by the Arabs against Israel. So if it is a question of hawk versus dove, I see you as more the hawk and me more as the dove. I understand that with a land give, there is war coming, and what you are proposing is war. I do not like war. I would rather the Jews stay and make a best a peace as possible directly. I think the keeping of the Jews in Gaza would have reduced overall civilian casualties and would have kept Sderot out of firing range. I suggest further settlement as the way to keep the peace. As Jews move in, it will be less reason for missiles to be fired off-target and calm could ensue. A few olive trees is a small price to pay for saved lives. Yet, I understand that you want it the other way, where large Arab population centers are exposed with terrorists in their midst still making war on Israel, and Israel retaliating to protect pre-1967 lines as in Sderot, officially to act like tigers, but unofficially with handcuffs on and exposed to the violence as is the present case where the IDF is unable to stop the Kassams without causing Arab civilian casualties. From the outside, it seems outrageous that Israel is always forces itself to make sacrifices of land for war, and that there seems like so little control over fixed boundaries, however set, as the Arabs seek to wipe democracy out of the Middle East.
16. Eitan Haber remarks
Maurice C ,   Ireland   (11.13.06)
All of you who see his remarks as that of a weak person. Start reading the Nostradamus Code - World War 111. Doesn't look so pleasant. I'm just a realist. In the book he writes about Arabs, Jews And Cristians in the world. Take care and think before you write and start worrying it can happen to you

19. Israel must prepair for a tsunami of radical Islam
Daniel ,   Amsterdam   (11.15.06)
This is not a time to make peace with enemies hell bent on your destruction. This is not the time to surrender strategic land. Israel has been defeated in Lebanon, America has been defeated in Iraq. There is an Islamic Tsunami comming, better get ready. There is no way of knowing if Israel can survivie the onslaught, but I do know that the West will not survive the defeat of Israel. America maybe, but not Europe. It's going to be very tough and it is about time you guys start being realistic about the situation. Yet you seem to insist on suicide. Maybe I should be moving to the US afterall? How about moving to Israel you say? Only if you get serious again.
