31. Who cares? Hungary is boring.
Mush DeLeon ,   Brooklyn, New York   (11.14.06)
What are going to do there? Eat gulash and accidentally urinate on homeless people? Maybe it's just me, but I feel like I did it all in Hungary.
32. it was the Arabo/berber-Muslims area in spain, There is a
Simon Mohammed ,   Falls Church, VA USA   (11.14.06)
you sounf like you are definitely Anti Arab in particulier and anti muslim in general, and anti your self personally.
33. @ ALL...
Kais ,   Qatar   (11.14.06)
The overseas Jewsih Zionist Agencies are trying their best to persuade European Jews and American Jews to immigrate to Israel, the beloved land of Israel. Incidents are exaggerated and Jews are constantly told how dangerous their situation is in the “DISPORA”. (what happened 2 years ago between France and Israel regarding this matter?) Just last day a similar article was published from New York and Germany and I am certain more will be coming. It is true that such incidents do occurr from time to time but they are not exclusively happening with Jews only! There are also attacks on blacks, Asians and Muslims in Europe that the Israeli reader rarely if ever gets to hear about. Overall the Jewish Diaspora is smart enough to know that immigrating to Israel (Aliyah) is much more dangerous than staying in Europe and this will always be so as long as Israel wants an unrealistic PEACE on its own terms.
34. Look left look Right - Worrying Warning -
RyanH ,   Ashdod Israel   (11.14.06)
In some places like Belgium and France. Jews have been looking to the right and thought that there they could find a new ally against Islam. Many Jews voted for the Vlaamse Blok in Belgium. Now antisemitism seems to be coming from both sides. In the UK the conservatives are looking far more anti semitic daily - the Daily Telegraph has turned into an enemy publication.

37. documentary
Suzanne   (11.14.06)
The Dutch made a documentary on antisemitic incidents during the Hungarian uprising. It was very welcomed by the Hungarian minister of foreign affairs. This is a hopefull message.
38. @Kais from Qatar
Suzanne   (11.14.06)
but the situation in France sucks
39. *13 - On Islamic Spain
Ishak Haskiya ,   Roskilde - Denmark   (11.14.06)
Indeed Jewish-Arab relations florished under the Ummayid dynasty 900-1000. BUT when fundamentalist Berber Muslims took Cordova in 1013 Jews returned to their lowest dhimmi status. Many prominent Jews were killed in Cordoba itself. A general massacre of Jews took place in Granada. The Jewish community of Lucena was forcibly converted. From 1146, the Almohads forced Jews to convert or die. Synagogues were shut down. Jews had to wear special clothes and the yellow"shikla", a sign of infamy. Many Jews fled into Christian territories and some even to more tolerant Morocco, a lesser evil. (read about Maimonides). Read your whole history book and not only part of it, number 13! Israel is best for all Jews.
40. @ SUzanne
Kais ,   Qatar   (11.14.06)
Can you please elaborate more on what situation "sucks" in France?
41. Antisemitism or Anti Israeli ism... or just plain racism
USA   (11.14.06)
They are different. Israel is a nation. As a nation it has caused many problems for many people. I dont deny that there is anti semitism of course there is but i believe most of the hate towards jewish people is not because they are jewish but because of israels policies and actions. #29 the reason the population of christians has gone down is because muslims have more children than christians. (you probably thought you were making some great point)
42. To #33
Jul ,   Mastrich   (11.14.06)
Deart Kais from Qatar: are you really teaching the Jew a lesson on survival strategies ?
43. #9 Mriam's comment
Been there done that ,   LA, US   (11.14.06)
Mirriam, You are fool to bring up lessons from history. the only fools who have not learned the lesson are the Jews who stil remain there or visit. They don't want you there, neither alive nor dead. Eastern europeans have learned the lesson of history very very well. Kick and Kill jews and you will be rewarded, or at least not punished. Jews should not be going around tesching lesson or preachiing morality to other nations and people, every nation has its own. Jews should mind their own country and their own people. Stiffle your arrogance about preaching to otrhers and the arrogance of being an exemplary people/nation/state. Get down and dirty like everyone else. Cary a long kn ife and use it frequently. Establish a tough reputation then no son of a bi---h will hjave the balls to insult a hebrew speaker, let alone intimidate a group. I am sick of this whining. hit back!!
44. How come
Alex ,   Canada   (11.14.06)
Jews are blamed for Israel's policies, but Arabs are not blamed for their countries policies when they are abroad?
45. Media Critic
Michael3k ,   Tlv Israel   (11.14.06)
Although the drawbacks (and occasionally the tragic) of being a Jew or a Christian during the Golden Age are better appreciated today, for us Jews, it would indeed have been great to return home, with Sufis and Mutazilites (mystics and rationalists) as neighbours. The Caliphate of Cordoba had been the creation of the last descendent of the Abbasid dynasty und those guys, as we know, wrote refined wine-songs and one of their rulers even used the Koran as a target for his arrows.
46. Youze paid your money and youze takes your choice
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (11.14.06)
It's not like you don't have a place to come back to, right?
47. As son of Hungarian Jew...
(11.14.06)
I am appauled but no less suprised. The people who fed us to the nazis are still alive today in Europe. So they don't murder us outright but there is a significant increase in anti-semitism in Europe, harkening back to the not so old days. We come from Pecs and while sometimes it is ok, there is antisemitism. I think I will make aliyah soon. It really is the only way
48. Hungarians flock to Israel to find work
Israel   (11.14.06)
Don't forget to beat and slap them when you hear them talking Hungarian in the streets. It's about time us Israelis really show the world how much we can take.
49. Metro Inspector
Metro Inspector ,   hungary   (11.14.06)
Please, read the article: "On Saturday, Itai Lavi, 28, an Israeli medical student studying in Budapest was attacked by a Metro inspector. " So what happenned: 1. The guy did not have ticket 2. The inspector asked him to show his ticket 3. He started to speak Hebrew pretending he don't understand what the inspector want 4. The inspector asked him not to speak Hebrew. Your conclusion: The entire world - first and foremost Hungary - antisemitic. Hmm.
50. c'mon George
Orsi ,   hungary   (11.14.06)
I cannot agree with you George, the world saw what it was shown by Hezbollah and the national CNN TV of Hezbollah. I am not a jew, but the anti-semitism cannot have his place in Europe, at least should not happen again. Most of the investition are made in Europe by Israeli companies, they are provoding workplaces and paying good and in time. It is known that the IDF was making notifications before they were bombing in Libanon, but for this fanatic hezbollah it was better to take the simpathy of the world by hiding in hospitals, crying and showing the dead children or whatever. This is the arab style, the ideological and behavioral darkness, fanatism, stupidity and lausiness are the best words to describe them. And what about the bombs of hezbollah, if we are speaking about this, all over the world which the different groups are "engineering" in the name of Allah all over the world? Israel is not a popular country?Which arabian country can shown productible land in the middle of desert? In my opinion, Israel is one of the biggest proof of what Europe loosed by making the holocaust. Which european country is able to develop in 50 years in that way in which Israel developed. Than lets not speak about who and why dont like israel....the people are gelous and bad, because they cannot be like jews-family centered, worm, quality people with a lot of brain and kindness. everybody is saying all stupid things about them and I cannot agree, I am annoyed when I hear this. In my opinion Europe is drinking the juice of what they made. Bring muslims in europe and europe will go back on the darkness of the middle ages again. It is poor than the people were behaving in Budapest like this and I believe this students because this is what happening. You can be dead on the street and they will step through you considering you are drunk or homeless. And why we are attacking the students or the jews in Hungary? they are bringing a lot of money in the country- 11.000 USD/per year-its a lot of money. Out of this rent, they have to eat, dress aso.. I can write pages but I really dont know who will read it.. I am very dissapointed of what is happening.
51. Metro Inspector's version is probably right
kameel ,   Israel   (11.14.06)
I tend to believe the metro inspector's tale, because:- 1) I anticipate such a behaviour on the side of the student. Driven by the arrogance and superiority complex of him. 2) I cannot think of such an aggressive attitude on the side of the inspector ( being in public service) if not provocated at all... 3) Anti semitism is the ready accusation for any reaction on the part of all goyim, when they do not agree to Israeli's terms or aggresion.
52. HMM, Metro inspector
Orsi ,   Budapest, Hungary   (11.14.06)
HMM to that the metro Inspector speaks english:O) Shocking. They bearly speak hungarian. I am shocked, it is a guy in that company who speaks english:O)
53. Answer
Kata ,   Budapest, Hungary   (11.15.06)
This post from "Israel" that you should beat Hungarians on the streets of Israel sounded just as nazi as the people beating the israelis. Are you normal? Did you use your brains? I am a Hungarian Jew. I know there are problems in the country. But there are also problems in the whole World! You hear it all the time! In France for example! Or the United States! A frum friend of mine was walking in Crown Heights Friday night and got beaten up there! You praise Israel so much... Yes good place there are only bombs there... Think people, think!
54. #45 and alike
Media Critic ,   USA   (11.17.06)
When any ethnic minorities in any culture unite to form an economical power controlling local economies, it is in human nature that these minorities become targets by the disadvantaged powerless groups. There are special interest groups from within those ethnic minorities who purposely drive a wedge between them and the rest of the culture to exasperate that division.
55. More details
Sajtos Zoltán ,   Budapest, Hungary   (11.18.06)
I was really surprised when I read this article. I am a hungarian and I live in Budapest since 4 years. I am sure that a metro inspector can't recognise hebrew language. They not really educated, they don't speak foreign languages, everybody hates them. Probably he or she thougt that you are a hungarian, travelling without a valid ticket (doing that is very common, since public travel is pretty expensive, compared to the average wage) and you are just pretending that you don't understand him. That's a frequent trick, I've tried this a few times.
56. Israelis in Hungary
Monika Romhányi ,   Germany   (11.19.06)
As German citizen with Hungarian origin I really feel ashamed for these primitive antisemites. I really wish Hungarians would learn what democracy, pluralism and tolerance mean. There seem to be no political culture at all. It´s so sad and awful! I´m really upset and worried about all these atrocities against life and soul. Best wishes and shalom to you!
57. .
Vajk ,   Budapest   (11.21.06)
What the hell are You doing in Hungary? Why don't You build your own culture from home? You have to think about it: either you live in Hungary and You identify Yourself as hungarian, or You live in Israel and can be a 100% Jewish. Now You're just a guest here. Your home needs You all too. Greetings from Budapest
58. Itai Lavi?
Bazalt ,   Budapest, Hungary   (11.21.06)
Lavi had 2 friends (three men altogether), they were arguing with 1 (one) inspector (according to the article, that is). Why the f*ck do they think anybody should help THEM? The inspector was outnumbered by 3 to 1. I wouldn't call it a fair force ratio and yet _they_ still scream for help and wondering why is it that nobody gives a f*ck.
59. Who cares Mush Deleon? He is boring
Christian ,   Hungary   (11.21.06)
Antisemitism in Hungary? I would like to explain to George( the rasist guy/gay from Israel who wants to beat Hungarians ) and to all jews in the world, WE HATE WHAT JEWS DO IS THE SIGN OF PATRIOTISM AND IF A GOY DOES IT IT IS ONLY A FUCKING ANTISEMTISM. We Hungarians dont bomb our neighbours, we dont kill children around us BUT OUR 1100 YEAR OLD COUNTRY WAS CUT INTO 5 PIECES, 73% OF OUR TERRITORY WAS GIVEN TO OUR NEIGHBOURS and when we speak about this horror story we are only nazis. You think you have the right to do anything in the world and the fuckin US let you make terror on the whole world. We have to live in fear because of you while we have to hear we are antisemistic. The Hungarians goverment has no wide right party (in Israel it is evident to be int goverment and nobody protest) and the wideright people are not in the parliament at all. We are rassist becasue of a metro inspector? What are you? You killed officially hundreds of children and women every day!!!!!!!!!!!
60. @ Vajk
Monika R. ,   Germany   (11.21.06)
Apart from this story (Israelis studying in Budapest: everyone has the right to study whereever (s)he wants) it has nothing to do if someone is Christian, Jew or has another religion: everyone is a real Hungarian. For example the writer Imre Kertész is as Hungarian as the politican Viktor Orbán, don´t you think so?
