1. addiction
charles ,   petach tikva   (11.18.06)
sad , sad , very sad . In this, the state should take his responsabilitys . This addiction is also an illness , that occurs in all parts of the Israeli society . Maybe a better prevention by way of education . Why should ex-addicts not go to schools and tell their terrible history , a testimony . I'm telling sometimes to young cigaret smokers : You think that smoking makes a man of you , you'll need to be much more a man to stop smoking .
2. All Haredi are
Sagi ,   Israel   (11.18.06)
addicted. They are addicted to the notion that something which is undefinable, undescribable, unpronouncable and unmentionable created the universe and everything in it. This is a very sad addiction because there is no therapy and no cure, ergo no hope.
3. #2 Without that mindset, you Sagi, would not be in Israel
(11.18.06)
Do you want to be like everyone else, are you upset about being a Sabra, a Israeli? Or do you want to be a part of the goyim nation?
4. # 3 Response
Sagi ,   Israel   (11.19.06)
I am a very proud Sabra, I am a very proud Israeli, I would never live in any other country in the world. I have always served my country and my people with pride and dedication. All this does not mean that I am obliged to dress in a clown suit, act with violence to protest against others and certainly does not mean that I should believe in voodoo.
5. #3 So whearing a black suit and black paints is a clown suit
(11.19.06)
Wonder how professional looking you look. ONLY European Hasidim wear that style, NO Sephardic Jews do. The secular crowd may have "started" this Israel but the idea and reasons didnt come from unapathetic Jews, it came from Jews who cherished their heritage, and understand WHY and FOR WHAT REASON we have this land.
6. The ways out of death belong to God
marilyn   (11.19.06)
Isn't it interesting that the methods to get out of 'sin' is the method taught to us by our Lord Jesus Christ. And as the mediator of the new covenant that is the promise with Israel from Jehovah God, isn't part of it ' the forgiveness of 'sins'. Jesus himself has come to 'save' us from 'sin' that means the education on how 'sin' gets such a hold on us, and why 'sin' is addictive, is taught to us through, knowledge of Gods Holy word."This mens everlasting life the knowledge of you [Jehovah] the only true God and the one you sent forth Jesus Christ." He hasn't sent anyone else to us whether gentile or Jew.
7. Sorry, Marilyn
Dave ,   Toronto   (11.19.06)
Sorry, Marilyn, I have to disagree with you. I as a Jew, believe in pure monotheism. Therefore I believe that God is not only One, but also Indivisible. Therefore God is beyond human understanding. Therefore I will never believe that God can ever want a son or daughter. As it says in our Torah "My ways are not your ways, saith the Eternal"". This is not only my belief, but is a belief shared by all Jews and indeed all Moslems, and will remain so forever.
8. Hi Sagi
LN   (11.19.06)
Theres another article on hareidim in today's Ynet waiting for your hate vomit. You're a bit slow no? Yalla, Sagi.
9. # 8 Your mistake
Sagi ,   Israel   (11.19.06)
I hate no one. They hate me. I use my hands to type out words of protest and to express my opinion. They use their hands to throw stones and express their opinion through violence. I do not wish to disrupt their way of life. They do all in their power to disrupt mine. When I see a person in national attire I have respect for this, in the knowledge that it is deep rooted in tradition. When I see a clown suit I have contempt for this, in the knowledge that it is based on an attempt to emulate the Polish nobility of the 18th century who "loved" us so much and has zero to do with Judaism, ancient or otherwise. Democracy is of the highest value and seeks not to impose constraints on minority groups. Extreme religious credo metamorphosed into political parties seeks to impose constraints on others by dictatorial means, which enivitably spells violence. No Sir, I do not hate, I Protest, my weapon is the pen, their weapon is violence.
10. # 6 Marilyn
Sagi ,   Israel   (11.19.06)
Christianity has traditionally been called a monotheistic religion. This is at best erroneous, at worst, deceptive. People who worship three deities and bow down to countless images and icons can not be termed monotheistic.
11. If It Wasn't For Retorno
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (11.19.06)
these people would be down the draino. Kol Hakovod to them and their efforts!
12. to Marilyn
D Hirod ,   UK   (11.19.06)
Try selling your garbage to Sagi - he has nothing to believe but some ninteenth-century racism
13. # 12 Hirod
Sagi ,   Israel   (11.19.06)
Marilyn could not sell me anything. If you read my # 10 this will be manifestly evident to you. With regard to racism, I suggest you investigate the meaning and ramifications of the word before you connect me with it, directly or by implication. If I was in any position of authority in Israel I would immediately outlaw the use of terms such as "sector" or "congregation", ( migzar and eda ), which are inflammatory and divisive instead of being comforting and collective as "Kibbutz Galuiot" was intended to be. No,I am not only not racist, I detest racism in all its forms, A Jew is a Jew Is a Jew, including the Haredim, but no one sector is superior to another, including the Haredim.
14. To Sagacious Sagi
A Yid ,   USA   (11.19.06)
> no one sector is superior to another, including the Haredim. As I always taught my boys - doing mitzvos & being frum makes you better OFF, *not* better....
15. To sagi
Jewish Mother ,   jerusalem   (11.19.06)
If you hate violence, did you write a talkback about the leftist protesters who swarmed IDF vehicles in protest against Israel's right to protect itself? Do you write talkbacks about women in Black who encourage their sons not to do the army (gasp, just like the Haredim), No, sagi, you only write talkbacks against haredim, which is selective and therfore hate-oriented/racist. We have pens too, Sagi. The Haredim don't hate you, but you seem to hate yourself, your Jewish nation and the religion that built and upholds our amazing little country.
16. 3 15 Dear Lady
Sagi ,   Israel   (11.19.06)
Wrong again. I have written just as many talkbacks against the Left as I have against Haredim. I myself am more right than right can be right, but I am right in a positive way, no violence, serving my country and people with humility. Just to set the record straight, my main gripe with the Haredim is not their violence but rather the fact that they can not shake off the Galut, disrobe their disgusting garb and become normal people who can also contribute to the nation. I do not hate them, I do not loathe them, I have contempt for them because of their ways, not because of religion but because they wish to impose upon others their way. I hope you are capable of discerning between hatred and genuine criticism.
17. Re #2: Who do you think Created?
Steve ,   USA   (11.20.06)
B"H Sagi, I am not seeing the creation narriative as undefined. How do you think the creation proceeded? And who or what do you name for it?
18. Why nothing about ciggies?
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (11.20.06)
19. # 17 Response
Sagi ,   Israel   (11.20.06)
My opinion as to how, when, where, why and by whom or by what, is not relevant and in any way would be totally unprofessional. What I shall say to you is this. The notion that some old fatherly figure with a long grey beard is sitting on a cloud and controlling everything and everyone is not only ridiculous but manifestly infantile. Worse than that is the idea that a few chosen people, notably Moses, Jesus and Mohammad had some sort of connection with him, verbal or physical. Science has offered explanations for the creation which have been more or less proven to be fact and are certainly based on sound logic. The Torah is a wonderful work of literature, the poetry and language ( Hebrew ) and the philosphy and ethics described therein are of prime importance, the stories and folktales are compelling. I live a balanced life, the Torah occupies a prime position in my library on the one hand, and on the other logic and pragmatism reign. Extremes have no place in my life, they are dangerous to the soul and to humanity, this has been proven since time immemorial and will continue to be proven ad infinitum. Freedom is the highest ideal to which man can aspire, freedom within the framework of the society in which you live. By society I mean a geopolitically defined one. Any individual or organization within that society trying to impose restrictions and constraints on others is acting immorally and unethically.
20. Old Fatherly Figures on Clouds
Ant ,   Tel Aviv   (11.20.06)
The painting of Fatherly Figures on clouds, Angels with wings and the Devil with a pitchfork were concepts derived by renaissance artists for illiterate Christians. Indeed the idea is also infantile to an Orthodox Jewery (and hopefully Marilyn). Sagi just because one cannot understand something does not mean it cannot exist. It just means one does not understand it.
21. calling all antisemites
:::jewish antisemite   (11.20.06)
blah bla all your hate to haredi the true jews. when zionism will be history & all secular jews will ove out of israel haredim will be around in the holy land serving g-d.
22. # 21 Response
Sagi ,   Israel   (11.20.06)
I heard that Jack Nicholson is intending to do a remake or a version 2. Try for a supporting role, you are sure to get it.
23. to Sagi # 39
charles ,   Petach tikva   (11.21.06)
I agree fully with you . To live free is the most important thing . To live in a society you need to respect some rules , everyone . But you can and may not impose your way of life on others . You have to respect everyone , accept and tolerate the other . Those rules needs reciprocity of course
24. GOOOOOOOO SAGI!!!
Israeli ,   Israel   (11.21.06)
I'm right behind you mate!!
25. Sagi and Charles represent most of Israel
Dan ,   Israel   (11.21.06)
Well done, well written. I agree 100% with both of you.
