I read the talk backs all the time, mostly for amusement because most people are fanatical one way or the other and most times dont have any other message to speak of other than hate for the other side. #27 actually is right on the money. It is beyond me why the leaders of Israel and the US will allow this crisis to escalate to near war with Iran, without any concrete diplomacy. From the US perspective, talk to the Iranians about working together in Iraq, we need the Iranians who have more influence with the Shiites in Iraq than we do, to solve that crisis. Through building a door of trust in the wall of mistrust, we can use this channel and negotiate with the Iranians about their right to nuclear energy and entrance into the WTO and other global economic organizations by convincing them that by cooperation they can have their nuclear energy, economic growth, etc. but in return, start being a partner for peace in the Middle East, leave Israel alone, etc. Regardless of the ignorant comments that Ahmadinejad says, he is a puppet, the real leaders, the mullahs in Iran are rational rulers, and they are inflaming Israel because it benefits their popularity in the Muslim world. The U.S. "stick diplomacy" does not work without the carrot. If we build trust and convince them that they have more to gain as partners for peace, then they will take it as rational leaders do. On the nuke issue, Israel possesses nuclaer capable submarines, four of them actually, so any strike on Israel will be mutually destructive. Iran would not dare to fire a nuke at Israel nor the USA. All in all, the talk of war without having fully taken the diplomacy route is foolish. By diplomacy route, if Ahmadinejad writes a letter to Bush, Bush should respond to Ahmadinejad's boss, Khamenei or fly to Tehran and talk to these guys first. Why do more people have to die before the leaders of these countries can get it. Also, making a partnership with Iran can help Israel make peace with Syria and Lebanon.
