natan sharansky is a man who fought with his inner most strength against the vanities of the russian monsters. they tried to break him in every way possible but he stood strong with faith in G-d. he recited psalms at times of extreme torture and solitary confinment and stood strong for the rights of all individuals and the freedom of religion. in the end although the russian communists could not break him no less than the prime minister of israel succeded with his betrayal of the jewish people and all values that he stood for. with olmerts disengagement from the country and all of our jewish values went our hero natan sharansky with his goodbye we also say goodbye to the true values of the jewish state of israel.

I came to know Natan Sharansky from reading his book "Fear No Evil" I found his struggle for his beliefs and the steadfast, resolute and tenacious way he refused to give up what he believed in to be an example of the things I find most admirable in mankind as a whole, in general, and about the Jewish people in particlaur. His self sacrifice in pursuit of what he believed and tried to achieve, not only for himself, but people everywhere should be an inspiration for people all over the world. While I know little of Natan Sharansky beyond his book. I'm sure the passion and selfless dedication he expressed in his life in the Soviet Union was also present in his life in the political arena. The world needs more good men just like him. Israel will be the poorer without him.

Not a good role model, that's for sure -- his kids turned out to be deserters and active enemies of the Jewish state. Whatever Sharansky is, Olmert is exactly the opposite.

Alas, Olmert will never step down as PM, until he is carried away kicking and screaming. Before that happens, he would appoint Beilin as foreign minister, Sarid as yet another Vice Premier, and Collette Avital as education minister, basically anyone who does not constitute a threat to him (i.e. anyone but Netanyahu). Olmert certainly shared King Herod's thirst for power. But while Herod knew that after wiping out the Hashmonean Dynasty, he would have to find favor with his subjects by building a magnificent temple and extending the boundaries of Judaea. Sadly, Olmert lacks any such wisdom.
