Another true American idiot

Ziggy's survival for 17 days without food or water will not, of course, surprise cat lovers who are well aware of the remarkable talents of these wonderful animals. What I find interesting is that this white cat seems to typify the struggle of Israel for survival, its ability to suffer and endure and come out triumphant against the odds. My best wishes to Ziggy (or whatever his real name is).

Sorry, but the Palestinians are getting treated exactly as they deserve, but that's beside the point. Being a cat, the last place you'd want to go is England because, as you may have noticed, now the poor thing will have to be in quarantine for six damn months.

First of all he spends 17 days in a box with no food and water, getting tossed around, and probably feeling seasick, and then he wakes up in WHITWORTH of all the godforsaken places in the western world, in the middle of English autum, which is like Israeli winter only colder, darker, greyer and colder. Poor cute, fluffy white cat.

That is what makes life worth living is the happy endings. We need to hear the good in the world even if it is a small furry cat.

It might surprise you to know that Ziggy's adventure was all over the newspapers here in the States. I'm not sure what, if anything, that says about the state of journalism in this country, but this is one of those so-called human interest stories that most people can't seem to get enough ot. After all, with so much bad news these days (and when is the last time we've read any news coming out of Israel that didn't involve some sort of mayhem), how can you not love the tale of an adorable cat that triumphs over adversity and comes out with most of its nine lives intact? By the way, the cat in that photo isn't Ziggy. It's too bad, though, because the real Ziggy has the most amazing blue and green eyes.

Is Ziggy Jewish? I suppose so, as he ends up in jail on arrival. Just like Jeff Seath who was arrested by the Israelis in June this year (right, 6 months ago!) because he bought in his rifle with him on his Aliyah from North Carolina, where it is legal, to donate it to his beloved IDF.
