1. Fighting against games
Kate ,   Jerusalem   (11.29.06)
Evangelical Christians, as part of their faith, believe that their faith is true (sound familiar rabbi Amar?). As such, they believe it important to make information on their faith available to anyone who asks. I've seen the "Left Behind" series on Israel TV (HOT 3). There is nothing sinister or hateful or anti-semetic about it. We ONLY have the right to complain about forced coversions - whether by law or communal backlash. NO ONE has the right to tell anyone else that they cannot dream of others converting to their beliefs. And no one has the right to tell Jews or Christians that they have no right to practise or teach their beliefs to others.
2. end of times
bruno ,   bouxwiller , france   (11.29.06)
as a follower of Jesus i say it is sickening to see how the Gospel is distorted by the preachers of this false doctrine. apart from the fact that one should not make business with spiritual matters it is also a crude lie of the devil. the scriptures do not speak about this "left behind" fantasy. there are millions of Christians who believe this nonsense. this is a pity. in 2nd Thessalonians 2 there is the key for better understanding.
3. whose used to living under the firing line?
Leo ,   Australia   (11.29.06)
"Like the residents of southern Lebanon, computer gaming executives are used to living under fire." Surley you mean the residents of Southern Israel ? Sderot ring any bells? Reshef's and Ynet's inablity to empathise with their own fellow citizens (chosing instead to misplace that empathy with enemy combatants, which is ever so typical of latte lefties) would probably mean that they are "left behind."
4. A good review!
Hardi J. Niclasen ,   Kolding, Denmark   (11.29.06)
Allow kindly some minor correction to this otherwise splendid review. (Quote)" While many Jews “see the light” and convert to Christianity, some liberal Israelis support the evil nonbelievers. In other words, “Left Behind” supports Israel but portrays Judaism as a mistaken religion. "(unquote) Firstly, they don't convert to Christianity, but become persuaded that Yeshu'a is the Jewish Messiah. Secondly, they are not portraying Judaism as a mistaken religion , but as a religion , still lacking something, as the promised (as to the Jewish Scriptures) Messiah is yet not believed to have appeared. Kol tuv!
5. LEFT BEHIND
Dominika ,   Poland   (11.29.06)
Is such a great series!!! I read almost most of it. The first book of the series I read already 6 years ago. It is a very encouraging novel (sage) written by any christian writers ever. It helps in a way to undertsnd what is God's plan for the next few (might be even 50!!!) years for us... If you think it's foolish - your right to think so. Anyways what's clever in the eyes of teh world is foolish in God's eyes. :)) That's what Tanach says. Don't forget, though, that your goverments cheat you already now on everystep and they don't tell you the truth. That they kill your citizens telling you that these were terrorists... They don't care for civilians. All they want is to achieve their own goals... :(( Don't believe everything you read or hear in 100%. They count on it. And then, when you'll be fooled enough not to recognize what is the truth, you'll fall in that trap, too...
6. I agree with Kate 120%
Daniel ,   Formerly Israel   (11.29.06)
What's more, the reason that he Jewish faith is so weak and pathetic while Christianity and Islam are strong is that unlike Christians and Muslims, Jews never had missionaries of any kind. Therefore few people converted or want to convert to Judaism because they know almost nothing about it and in any way it doesn't seem as though Jews want converts.
7. to kate #1 you should revert not convert
teflon moslem ,   kufa iraq   (11.29.06)
tell me please what was the faith of Adam and Eve tho only religion god chose to mankind is islam in its shia form of faith with all the holy books concluded in the holy koran thus make it the one. god create souls 2000 years before it inhibted in our bodies so every one of us has met the other in heaven as sou;l before we met on earth that why we find those who dislike the other and some attract to the other without even knowing him becuase prior life was like magentic poles aside from newly potical differences which mainly based on money and power faith is one jesus will surprise lot of christian when he come back and proclaim he is a shia moslem
8. Left Behind
Connie ,   VA, USA   (11.29.06)
The book and the games, are religious fiction not religious science fiction. Tribulation Force" is not in the Bible. The word tribulation is.such as part of John 16:33 "In the world you will have TRIBULATION; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. " The Antichrist is not Satan's son. Where do the Jews fit in all this? Remember that Russia is in alliance now with Iran in their pursuit of nuclear weapons. In the book of Ezekiel, Magog is the land of the north: Russia.
9. #6 and Kate disagrees with you 140%
Kate ,   Jerusalem   (11.29.06)
Daniel - Judiasm is neither "weak" nor "pathetic". It is a strong, vibrant, living and growing religion with a rich and beautiful past, complete with deeply meaningful tranditions. Our future, both as a religion and as a people is filled with hope and promise.
10. Kate
Rami ,   Nazareth, Israel   (11.29.06)
Glad to see that some level minded Jews are still around. Usually most comments posted on y-net are heatfull and too much to the right to say the least.

Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (11.29.06)
Mercedes Benz with a trunk full of C-4 plastic explosives. You are a religion of terrorists. You should go into the fireworks business. On second thought don't. Your last performance in New York didn't go so well. Incompetant explosives companies, run by incompetant muslim technicians.
12. What the Tanach says....dominika, Poland #5
Neil ,   NYC, USA   (11.29.06)
Not sure what your religion is Dominika, but I doubt it is Judaism if you believe that the novels you read tell you what God's plan is. The Tanach says nothing about a Tribulation or return of any Messiah....only the FIRST and only coming of a Jewish Messiah (an annointed leader, not a son of god) is in store for the Jewish people and the world, so while you are correct about how governments cheat and decieve us, those leaders who compiled the books you believe in were no different than today's leaders. Sorry for the fact check, but no where in Tanach is there any talk of a second coming of any messiah. As you wrote, don't believe everything you read or even the video games you play. If the game is a good one, enjoy it, but don't take it so seriously.
13. steven its so cold in alaska come to
teflon moslem ,   kufa iraq   (11.29.06)
iraq it s warm and very testing to those who avoid the truth and hide behind banners of stigma come to kufa its the center of the world ask BUSH he came here ask jimmy carter he knows about us get out of the cold its not good for the bones
14. teflon moslem #7
Neil ,   NYC, NY   (11.29.06)
Nothing like a Shiite from Iraq to lecture us all about his religion of peace when his own shia moslem people think nothing of murdering fellow moslems who don't agree with their view of Koran. While thinking you are doing Allah's work in following your holy Koran and blowing up innocent women and children in addition to innocent moslem men, maybe its time to have a JIHAD against your child abusing Imams who teach your young children its better to blow themselves up and die and murder becoming a martyr than act peaceful and Godlike in teaching your self proclaimed religion of peace. There is no peace in shia islam of Iraq or Iran for that matter!! Only intolerance. Democracy is an anathema to you since you are incapable of converting anyone given the weakness of your case.
15. #7 What was the religion of Adam & Eve?
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (11.29.06)
It was most definitely NOT Islam, otherwise Eve would have been "honor-killed" for not wearing a burqa.
16. TO NEIL I AM NOT CONV ERTING ANYONE
teflon moslem ,   kufa iraq   (11.29.06)
if you take it (( truth)) you get to heaven if you leave it you go to god hell. What i AM SAYING THERE IS ONE faith one god you take who is blowing who you should know your forces of evil create the mess about tolerance you should have listen to sistani when he said if they bomb all the shia popluation we should not retaliate and we doing just that except for the gganggs that has been trained by your forces remember Negroponte ((death squad)) in gautimala so wise up my friend and revert to reason and truth

18. the books
Pumpkin Pie   (11.30.06)
I am unfamiliar with the video game, so no comment there. But as for the books, though I am a Christian, I think the books are very poorly written. I read a couple in the series and gave up. The writing is very stilted and laborious. They are best sellers, so obviously many people enjoy the plot and message so much that they overlook the poor writing, but if you are a discerning reader, you will be disappointed.
19. To Dominika in Poland
emily ,   calif   (11.30.06)
It's great that you like the books and their message. Just be aware that the books represent the authors' interpretation of Revelation, Daniel, Ezekiel, and other parts of of the Bible, and their interpretation is not universally held by all Christians. My suggestion is to go straight to the Bible and then decide what you think it says instead of relying on the "Left Behind" authors' interpretation. I have, and I came away with more questions than answers. For me it's not possible to come up with the cut-and-dried explanation that the authors did. That's just me, though. Everyone is different. Best wishes to you. Emily
20. Whatever way you look at it 'love' is the ideal
marilyn   (11.30.06)
Like to comment on comments. There is only ONE God and we all agree on that. Jews Christians and Muslims. This One God appeared to moses and said his name was 'Yahweh". He entered into a covenant relationship with the whole nation of Israel, telling them that the promised seed would come through certain ancestors blood line e.g. [David] Christians believe Jesus is the promised seed that came and fulfilled the prophesies, recorded of him, and a well was opened for sin offering in Israel. God showed the former covenant was destroyed by rooting up and thoroughly destroying the priesthood the temple and sending the nation into exile for 2,000 yrs.And then a new covenant came into force through the blood of the Christ. Jesus is now the mediator of a new covenant and is the only 'legal' way God recognises as the 'way' to Him. Both Jews and Muslims believe in an outside code of Laws to please God but Christ has taught us that Love is the Laws fulfillment and how to have Gods Laws internalized in our hearts and minds, A new creation

What what what???!!!
22. read Isaiah
joseph ,   miami, usa   (11.30.06)
to Neil: Please read The Book of Isaiah. It gives insight to the Messiah. It's not a "conversion" thing, it's just showing us Jews the truth to make us complete. I still think it's better than those terrorists muslims, do you agree? G-d Bless Israel and the USA. it's not even a right or left issue, it's the truth from The Almighty.
23. Left Behind
Hadassah Sukkot ,   South Eastern USA   (11.30.06)
Left Behind *is* classified within the book industry as Religious Fiction, and it actually would qualify for FANTASY fiction, if it were not for the Christian Themes within.. Much like CS Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia. It is Fiction, and I find it faulty at best, not even portraying the New Testament as it should, but that is another matter. I'm just tired of people saying Israel and Judaism is wrong because of replacement theology and dispensationalism which are in reality, something hanging on from way back in the Reformation... Most of us don't want any of it. If you ask me, it's Politically/Religiously 'correct' Anti-Semitism.. For people who claim to hold close ties to Israel and us all, LaHaye and Jenkins really didn't show it in their work of fiction to be honest. But that's their perogative, just as it is anyone's perogative, Jewish, Messianic, Christian or otherwise to not purchase it or purchase it as they so wish. Me, I didn't buy the books, didn't buy the movies, and won't be buying the game...
24. Abrahams Children
Petra ,   USA   (11.30.06)
Are divided by religions. Abraham raised Isaac as a Jew. As did his son, Jacob who was renamed "Israel". Ishmaels mother, Hagar, an Egyptian did not.(Ishmael became Islam) We may have had the same father, but now, You see the importance of a Jewish mother. The Torah explains it better than we. G-d never changed His writing of the 10 commandments. It is the blueprint for happiness. If the Arabs wish to live in peace, they should follow the faith of their father, Abraham, a Jew by promise, and by G-d. Examine for Yourself and see that all prophecy and Israel are established by G-d. It is written in the Torah long before other 'religions' were invented.
25. The Supremacy of Hashem
Dave from Canada ,   Toronto, Canada   (11.30.06)
As a Jew, I believe that Hashem is Supreme and Indivisible and Ultimately Unknowable. Therefore Judaism rejects any theology that suggests in any way, shape or form that God came to earth at any time or will come to earth at any time as a man or woman. As it says in the Torah, "My ways are not thy ways, saith the Eternal". To believe in any human manifestation of Hashem is Hillul Hashem, because although the Eternal One can never be diminished, such belief diminishes the Eternal in humans' conception. As is well known, Jewish theology says that the Meshiach will be a mortal person. Furthermore, Hashem being merciful, will never permit the end of days. Human life will never die out; obviously it will change a lot, but it will continue.
26. We're not going anywhere
Lee ,   US   (11.30.06)
Israel, those who care for you will continue to support you. We're not going anywhere. The "rapture theory" is only a few hundred years old. Scripture shows how God has kept His people in the midst of trouble, not taken them out. The problem is for those who are waiting to be taken away; they will have a hard time in the midst of that what is coming upon the earth. God will not abandon you. He never has before. And those who are faithful to Him shall be joined together. Am Yisrael Chai!
27. #22...read Isaiah
Neil ,   NYC, USA   (11.30.06)
Joseph in Miami, yes the book of Isaiah gives insight to the Messiah, but once again the fact is that nowhere in the entire Tanach (including Isaiah) is there a place where anyone talks of a second coming of an annointed leader (moshiach...not son of god!). Isaiah talks of a suffering servant and was talking directly about the people Israel....who remains to this day as God's sufferering servant (not any individual person)....and the world will ultimately realize the unity of God and the "truth" when the time arrives.....but it will not be anyone elses false messiah or son of god. I agree, not a left or right issue, but one of the truth of Tanach and God. When the truth emerges, we will all know. As I tell my Christian friends, if you are "right" and the Jew who you chose some 2000 years ago as your son of god returns, then I will believe.....but from what I have read in the original Hebrew and throughout the Tanach (including Isaiah), the Messiah has yet to come.
28. Left behind !
Ron Duranske ,   Durham,Durham,NC   (12.01.06)
No one will ever be converted to Christianity untill they realize they need to change. This comes through the conviction of the Holy Spirit. One must get serious about their condition in life and accept the teaching and sacrifice of Jesus Christ and apply it to their life. Salvation doesn't come through games or novels but from the living Word of God. We are all Jews in Christ.
29. #12 Neil
cn ,   Israel   (12.01.06)
Uh, Neil, you better read the Tanach again. A little slower this time and with your eyes open. And no, my religion is not Christianity. By the way, as you re-read the Tanach, you will see G-d hates religion. Now that is a shocker. Do you think He wants relationship? Hmmm.
30. Enough heresy here to make the righteous sick
Michael U ,   SF,CA   (12.02.06)
So much talk about the false messiah. Why are we wasting our time. We all know that Jesus was not Moshiach, he did not accomplish the goal of the annointed as written in prophecy. We all know that Moshiach is not a son-of-god or a man-god, we know that Moshiach will be a mortal human. So it is written. We know that Moshiach will not die and come back, it is clear to all who read the holy books that Moshiach will accomplish his goal. Who cares what the Christians think about Judaism? They stole our religion and called our covenent invalid. G-d said his covenent with us is unchangeable. They speak heresy, and we sit by and listen to it. G-d is one, he will reign, he reigns, he will reign for ever and ever. Do not follow false prophets, doing so cuts you off swiftly from your heritage.
