61. This is the game they play, haven't you noticed?
Maria T ,   Canada   (11.30.06)
They provoke a confrontation, elicit a response from Israel, then, depending on the degree of that response, they cry out discrimination, injustice, oppression, injury, massacre..... They give out interviews, take lots of pictures, re-enact scenes of pain and destruction... Then you hear of human rights organizations and the media in general vilifying Israel for its inhumane attitude towards these victims.... It's a formula. It works every time. This street name issue is a minor one but it succeeds in making Israel look bad. Once again.
62. Re: Dan #48 contd.
Abdullah ,   Morocco   (11.30.06)
You mentioned in your post that most arab nations were in complicity with the nazis, excluding the Morocco where the king (PBUH) protected his jewish subjects. Bear in mind that all of europe and one major american political party at the time was also pro-nazi. Yet in Israel today there is no bigotry against all things european and american. In spite of the fact that the europeans instigated this whole nazi enterprise, the "arabs" are hated more. At the very least hate both! Or hate NONE!
63. What if US Jews wanted to give streets Jewish names?
dudu ,   Kfar Sava   (11.30.06)
Would the US gov't agree? I think not. Let the Ramle arabs move to their own 21 countries and leave us alone.
64. One way ticket...
Arthur ,   S Francisco   (11.30.06)
If they want to live on the streets with arab names - there is only one way: it's OUT, OUT, OUT....
65. Brazen Arabs in Israel. Refuse To Support Israel
Adina Kutnicki ,   US   (11.30.06)
Arabs in Israel are becoming more and more brazen. They REFUSE to recognize that they are a minority living in a (presumably) Jewish State. They make many demands, yet refuse to support Israel. They want benefits and do little to assist the country. If they so desire they can leave for 22 other Arab countries.
66. The Damocles Sword of Being Called A 'Racist'
Adina Kutnicki ,   US   (11.30.06)
OOHHH! The Arabs are calling a Jewish mayor 'racist'. Big f---in deal.
67. lavi is a horrible low racist

68. #61 Let's be honest Abdullah
Dan ,   Israel   (11.30.06)
Abdullah, let's focus on the main points: 1) If Morocco isconsidered a "moderate" Arab country despite many anti-Jewish massacres over the years, it says a lot about the nature of the Arab world. Also leaders in Finland and in Denmark protected the Jewish community in their countries during world war 2. The Arab world was strongly pro-nazi and pro-German and has nothing to be proud of during world war 2. Arabs in Israel are better treated than Jews have ever been treated in any Arab or Moslem country. 2) The socio-economic tensions between ashkenasi and sephardi Jews in Israel were due to their different experiences in very different societies. These tensions have mostly disappeared today and believe me that no sephardi Israeli would move to any Arab country. Our current minister of defense, Amir Peretz is born in Morocco but nevertheless a proud Israeli patriot. 3) It is the Arab world and Iran and not Europe which threatens Israel's existence, which is the reason for Israelis' negative attitude towards the Arab and Muslim world. If you want to promote better relations between Arabs and Jews then tell the Arab world and the Arabs to respect Israel's existence as a Hebrew state just like we Jews respect the existence of 22 Arab states. The Jews of Morocco never opposed Morocco as an Arab state so it is Arab hypocrisy to oppose Jewish national rights. Treat us Jews the way that you want to be treated yourself and things will be fine between us.
69. According
Andras Bereny ,   Kfar Tapuah, Shomron   (11.30.06)
According to the Torah Eretz Israel is given to the Jews, not to the Arabs as their ethernal inheritance. Ramla is in Israel, therefore by definition it is Jewish. The Arabs who live in Eretz Israel can be defined only as hostile settlers of the Jewish Land and therefore should be transfered out from the Land of the Jews to a land of the Arabs.

72. are you proud of Einstein ?
observer   (11.30.06)
"Albert Einstein - "'I should much rather see reasonable agreement with the Arabs on the basis of living together in peace than the creation of a Jewish State. Apart from practical considerations, my awareness of the essential nature of Judaism resists the idea of a Jewish State, with borders, an army, and a measure of temporal power, no matter how modest. I am afraid of the inner damage Judaism will sustain'...
73. #70 god of Islam is radically DIFFERENT from G-D of BIBLE
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (12.01.06)
You have obviously NEVER read the Bible to make such a ridiculous statement. In the Islamic invasion and filthy desecration of Jewish Jesus Christ' birthplace, Church of Nativity in Bethlehem, Judea, Israel, BIBLES WERE TORN UP FOR TOILET PAPER.
74. ARAB AGGRESSION Against Jews JUDAISM & G-D Increases in Acco
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (12.01.06)
israelnationalnews.com Arab Aggression Increases In Acco Nov 14, '04 A synagogue was burnt in the city this week, and firemen said today that it was the result of arson. "It was clearly a nationalistic act," Rabbi Yashar said. He said that another hate-crime against the Jews of the city was discovered just yesterday, with the desecration of more than 1,000 graves in the old cemetery... ... Arab youths, and adults too, harass Jewish girls almost daily, and throw rocks at synagogues; Arabs pass by the Great Synagogue every day and curse, or mock, or throw rocks. ...We are losing parts of the Land of Israel, not only here, but all over the western Galilee... ...three Israeli-Arab teenagers, residents of Ramle in central Israel, threw firebombs this past Friday night into a local synagogue. Residents managed to put out the resulting flames. The following night, Arab attackers returned and again threw flaming bottles at the synagogue. The Arab vandals, who were later arrested, admitted their actions, saying they wished to "identify with the Palestinian people" and "take revenge" against the IDF. http://www.israelnationalnews.com/news.php3?id=71937 Islam's archaeological destruction of Judaism's holiest site, the Jewish Temple Mount - the holiest place on earth: http://www.har-habayt.org/
75. hebrew street names wanted in arab countries!
ben w ,   boca raton, florida   (12.01.06)
kol hakavot #7! and by the ways why not give hebrew street names to the handful of jews living oppressed in arab countries?
76. Jews were chased out of arab countries...
Bernard Ross ,   St. Anns Bay Jamaica   (12.01.06)
so even if they have lived there along time it doesn't give them the right to always live there. Tjhe jews lived long time in arab countries and were chased out. They can go and live in the homes of jews who fled the arab countries. A jew cannot be a citizen of "moderate" jordan or own land there even after a peace treaty. There is no arab country that is of any good for jews, let them all turn into iraq.
77. #73 I admit, they were guilty to do so
(12.01.06)
by "they" I mean the ones who forced them to do so, yes exactly the besieging IDF soldiers. Terror is bad and evil. when IDF terrorized them and forced them to do evil, you should not have praised the IDF soldiers as heros. But, you did ! IDF soldiers were in the same time busy breaking the truce with them which was another evil !
78. gilan#45
israeli ,   israel   (12.01.06)
Thank you for your post. A few points though: If like me, you are a resident of Jerusalem, you must surely be aware of the following points: - All Israelis carry medical insurance via the national insurance and are entitled to healthcare services. Just walk into any hospital in Jerusalem - is there any shortage of Arab patients? As a matter of fact, I believe Hadassah Mount Scopus caters mainly to East Jerusalem residents. How about Arab doctors? Nurses? Have you ever walked into a super-pharm store? Ever noticed how many Arab pharmacists are employed? All probably trained at the Hebrew University. The IDF and the border police fight and die to protect all citizens and you know that. Our police protects everybody and you know that as well. Our Supreme Court even favors Arabs so as not to be accused of bias. As to the education - I think I covered that: 500 score vs 700 score - that is very harshly anti-Jewish. How about the Arab lawyers? Walk into any court of law or open any telephone directory. How about Arab footballers and referees? Even in Jerusalem - Hapoel Yerushlaim's stars come from Beit- Tzafafa (the Salmans). How about Arab journalists? teachers? engineers? As for the other services you mention, well, while I was posting my previous answer, I had the TV on and I heard a bit about the strike. Apparently a lot of municipal councils had run out of money and had withheld salaries for several months. And you know what I also heard? Several Israeli Arab municipalities cannot collect - the inhabitants simply do not pay municipal taxes, water, garbage collection, etc. Not to mention TV-fees. So why do you think the state should provide these services for free? If you or I decide one day to stop paying for water consumption, guess what? The municipality will disconnect us in no time. By the way, most Arab towns and villages do not have running water or sewage systems as we know it, instead they have indoor plumbing supplied by huge water containers on top of their houses while refuse is collected is cesspools which are drained as needed. And forgive me, but I say again - fulfill your obligations and then claim your rights. The first obligation of a citizen is loyalty to the state. In a democratic country you can criticize, you can protest, but you cannot call for the destruction of your own state, such as the Umm-el-Fahm inhabitants who wish to reconquer Jerusalem and reinstate the Caliphate. By the way, Umm-el-Fahm became part of Israel in the wake of the 1949 (or 1948) armistice with Jordan, and believe me (I also saw it on TV), they marched in the streets of their town waving Israeli flags and chanting "We were liberated". And it's not due to discrimination, poverty or lack of opportunity that they have turned to Islamic fundamentalism.
79. #74 three Israeli-Arabs....and more teenagers !
observer   (12.01.06)
Now it is a problem; you are going to wag war on Israel or on the arabs !
80. #68 Dan Let's be honest
Abdullah ,   Morroco   (12.01.06)
1) The monarchy of morroco respects and protects its jewish citizens. That is the honest truth. The non-jewish citizens may think otherwise but the GOVERNMENT does the right thing in protecting its Jewish minority, in spite of the unpopularity involved in doing this given the current Israeli-Arab conflict. On their part morrocan jews support humanitarian efforts to both arabs and jews in ISrael. This is simple morality. 2) There are places with jewish names in morroco. 3) This MAyor LAvi clealry is more likely to be ashkenazi and so if he should dispaly any bigotry it should be against those that directly affected him and killed 10's of millions of jews in euorpe with full complicity of their GOVERNMENTS. (And perhaps he should change his name to "Levy" rather than retaining the more european "Lavi". ) 4) These tensions between sfaradim and those Israelis who mistreated them are only "over" b'cos of the humilty and patriotism of the sfaradim whose ancestors made aliyah out of deep religious conviction. But tthe effects are sill prevalent in sfaradi society. I know first hand that morrocan Jews who went to Israel are worse off (by european standards), in general, than those who went to anti-semitic france. 5) My concern is not to improve arab-Israeli relations. That is too big for me and is the job of politicians. My concern is that people like mayor lavi do not further endanger the lives of Jews in Israel, by their bigotry and short-sightedness. 6) IMHO it is the non-jewish influences from europe that do more to edanger jewish lives than Arabs and Iran. This "hatred" for arabs obscures the real problem, which is simply that many Israelis jhave abandoned their own 3000 year old religious traditions and replaced it with a 100year old nationalist ideaology. If the mayor had a better understanding of his own religion, his response to this issue would have been a lot different. The sam can be said of Israeli society as a whole. A better understanding of the Jewish religion would bring them a step closer towards living in peace with their arab cousins.
81. Re: Linda #70 is half-right
Abdullah ,   Morroco   (12.01.06)
According to the RamBam (Musa ibn Maimun) (PBUH), a foremost Jewish autjority, the muslim religion teaches muslims to worship the G-d of Israel, while the xtian religion teaches xtians to do otherwise. In other words, the RamBam does not consider the xtian deity to be the G-d of Israel that muslims and Jews worship.

Linda Rivera ,   New York   (12.02.06)
How wonderful - Israel is the most special nation on earth! G-D's Land! So glad to see you post here again! You are absolutely correct! G-D states in the Bible He gave Israel only to Jews and no other people!
84. #79 Cursing, Throwing Rocks at synagogues ACTS AGAINST G-D
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (12.02.06)
Throwing rocks at, cursing and mocking at synagogues are committed EVERY DAY by Muslim youths and adults. These are hostile ACTS AGAINST G-D. israelnationalnews.com Arab Aggression Increases In Acco Nov 14, '04 A synagogue was burnt in the city this week, and firemen said today that it was the result of arson. 85. #81 Islam's god, Israel's G-D Absolute OPPOSITES
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (12.02.06)
Abdullah, you state in your comment: According to the RamBam (Musa ibn Maimun) (PBUH), a foremost Jewish autjority, the muslim religion teaches muslims to worship the G-d of Israel, while the xtian religion teaches xtians to do otherwise. If the RamBam actually said such a thing - reality does not bear this out. Muslims in the Middle East and worldwide are determined to destroy Israel - given by G-D. Judaism and Christianity - Jewish and Christian Bibles teach WE MUST OBEY G-D! WE MUST OBEY G-D'S LAWS! G-D commanded: YOU SHALL NOT MURDER Muslim Arab nations and the PA/PLO/Hamas, et al, teach that murdering Jews is not terrorism - they call MURDER - resistance. G-D calls it MURDER! The god of Islam and Israel's G-D-the Creator, are absolute opposites.

88. Linda #85
Abdullah ,   Morocco   (12.03.06)
First of all the RamBam was refering to the muslim religion not to individuals. The msulim religion teaches its adherents to worship the G-d of Israel, while the xtian religion encourages the idolatory according to the RamBam. But that said just like you'll find that not every one who is Jewish worships the G-d of Israel and not every xtian is an idolator, not every muslim worships the G-d of Israel. But the fact remains is that if every Jew focuses purely on "intimacy" with G-d, he will find this most easily within the Jewish religion. And if every muslim focuses purely on "intimacy" with G-d, he will find this within the muslim religion. For a xtian it is alittle more problematic but if he/she is willing to deviate from the traditional xtian beliefs on the trinity and messiah, he/she can also find initmacy with the G-d of Israel. Now if there are muslims who want to destroy Israel, then for the most part it is b'cos they have not yet seen the "real face" of Israel and so are easily deceived. The average muslim encounter with political (euor-)zionism is not an encounter with the 3000year old jewish tradition but with a 100year old european ideology. Given that muslims and xtians aka europeans have been at war for centuries, it is hard to see how muslims can live in peace with this ideaolgy in its present form. As future genrations in Israel become more religious and return to their own Jewish religious roots, the conflict with most religious muslims IMHO will diminish. It is ironic that what cost countless Jewish lives in xtian europe over the centuries is perhaps what will improve relationships between mulsims and Jews in the middle-east in the future, and that is faithfulness to the religion of their ancestors; the Jewish religion. But in the meantime we have political (euro-)zionism. Lets see what it can do...
