First, David. Why the vitriolic attack upon NZ. Did the arrest take place? To vilify an entire population because a handful of troublemakers (probably palestinians, other muslims or their sympathisers) and believe me they are a small number, have BIG mouths. Most NZr's are not political and are respectful and friendly to anyone that treats them the same way. I run a backpackers specialising in Israeli backpackers and their feedback is always positive in their dealings with locals whilst travelling this beautiful land. The issue you seem to have with white NZ's treatment of the Maoris. Granted, historical injustices have taken place but huge steps have been taken to address them and large settlements of money, stocks and land have been made and claims settled. When the settlers came to NZ the Maori population was in rapid decline. They suffered from genetic problems inherent in the small gene pool from the original 4 canoes that brought the polynesian people to Aotearoa approx. 800 years ago. Limited poor diet due to lack of variation and the consumption of human meat. Up until less than 200 years ago cannabilism was practiced both for food and for "mana" , the aquisition of the eaten persons spirit by the comsumption of their flesh. They practised slavery and the average life expectancy was 35yo. So it wasn't the "paradise" some would believe. Now the Maori are thriving in number. The language has been given a new life both in its spoken form and now a written language recognised internationally. Something it was pre-european times. Another point is there is not a huge distinction made between white & Maori as the two populations mixed very well resulting in most people having mixed bloodlines or family members that are Maori/European.... and No 26 World citizen. Sorry to disappoint you but Israelis are welcome here. The Muslims are not popular here and nor are these troublemakers. They do not speak for NZ'ers. And we are a people of common sense hence NO arrest.
