1. lol if they return every thing they will not have any thing

2. we won't submit to US's pressure
an Israeli   (12.06.06)
There he sits a brutal tyrant in Syria, from which his father had tried to over throw Jordan's king, his father and him have been terrorizing Lebanon, and we are suppose to bow down and give him a high piece of land that they had only been consistently using to launch attacks on Israeli Kibitzes and towns and villages until 67. We have given them back the Golan Heights before, in '48 war, and they continued to attack us from it. So in '67 war we've had enough! And frankly, I've had enough of the American hypocrisy! You can go shove it! These days every tyrant can get his way, no matter what. The Golan Heights are not an occupied territory. No one lives there under occupation, everyone is a civilian there with full rights, and it is the most famous secret in Israel that the Arab citizens in it are terrified by the suggestion of being brought back to Assad, and can't say that because the know he'll have their heads the minute they're back at his power, if they so much as seem not to be loyal to him. But they are full citizens and some friends of mine as well. Don't be impressed by Olmert & Peretz's statements on the matter. I voted for Peretz but the Golan issue was not on the election's agenda, and they have no right to offer it because it has no mandate for that. We will never evacuate from the Golan. NEVER. There're no occupied Palestinians there. It is striving and peaceful like it never had been under the Assads. They only used it to export death to our homes, while we use it to grow plantations, and sheep and other farms. Bush and this despicable Baker of his can go shove it. As far as they are concerned, they're willing to pretend Assad has the right to the Golan just to serve their interest, and I don't know where they get the nerve to ask us to evacuate thousands of people so that we'll be under rocket threats from the Golan as well as Lebanon and Gaza. They're saying: so what? It's not like you haven't done it beforeā€¦ so risk some more lives and tear apart your people's lives just so your sons will have to go get killed in a few years to stop the rockets. When Assad wants real peace, he'll settle for compensation for the Golan if he wants, or renting of some form like has been done to settle disputes through peace all over the world! He has more than enough land; his country is huge, while we on the other hand are being pressed from all sides. We will not submit to him and make him the ruler of the Lebanon and Iran an him the rulers of the region and the Americans can go shove it.
3. Not enough! Typical Baker garbage!
Jane   (12.06.06)
4. What else did you expect??
Arthur ,   S Francisco   (12.06.06)
Doesn't surprise me... After all - if there were no "occupied" Golan Heights - ther wouldn't be a problem in Iraq, Afganistan, maybe 9/11, first Gulf War, Lebanon civil war, Sadat's murder, Ayatollah... Did I miss anyone... By the way - it's a joy to go up to the Golans - and see Syria - down below - not being able to raise their head up.. Sheer joy!
5. This is BS
J K ,   NYC, USA   (12.06.06)
Everything asked of Syria is pie-in-the-sky hoping that for this they will do the right thing. Israel's only leverage is the land they now sit on. Why give back what was won in a defensive war 40 years ago? And if you want to say they should give it back, then Syria must pay a REALLY steep price for it. All these conditions set by the Baker team are things Syria should be doing ANYWAY, regardless if Israel were to hand back the land or not. This is just patent BS, but hey, what did anyone expect from Baker and Co.? Commitment this, verifiable that. These are things that need to be worked on BEFORE Israel would even consider entering into negotiations. They wouldnt take a Jews word for anything. Why should Israel take theirs?
6. Syrian obligations
David ,   Houston USA   (12.06.06)
By the time Syria fulfills the given criteria, Moshicach will have arrived, so there is nothing to worry about with Baker the anti-semite.
7. in other words...reward these bastards for muder...
(12.06.06)
there will be riots if this ever goes down.
8. Israel should do it....
DR ,   Florida, USA   (12.06.06)
Let others worry about dealing with Syrian scum. Let other countries find out first hand that Syrai wants nothing to do with peace and stability in Lebanon. If there are US troops on the border, Syria wouldn't dare lift a finger. This is why Israel should work towards this agreement.
9. That is really rediculous
Steve ,   USA   (12.06.06)
B"H Syria is preparing for war against Israel, and Israel is asked to hand over the Golan which Syria would use in that war against Israel! That is outrageous. Is this how the US helps its friends, here?
10. Baker Report: Israel must bend over and hold her ankles!
Chatich   (12.06.06)
Another mandate for appeasement and surrender from the newly empowered American Dhimmicrats. Hope you yanks enjoy living under Sharia law in the upcoming Islamist Republic of America...
11. A "full and secure peace agreement" that would lead to WAR.
Richard James ,   NY, USA   (12.06.06)
Baker wouldn't offer a "US security guarantee for Israel" if he thought that Israel's giving up the Golan Heights would result in peace. Baker is trying to get Israel to bribe the Arabs to keep them from slaughtering each other in Iraq. Baker is setting up another WAR for Israel to fight on her own.
12. Nothing surprising from James Baker.
freedom ,   canada   (12.06.06)
I wonder if there was a considerationg of war reparations. Hopefully, Baker can go around the world and solve all the previous land disputes. How about returning all land to the manner as they were in biblical times. That would mean all of America reverts to the Native Indians. France would have to give back land to the Germans.. I could be here a lifetime.. Personally, I just disregard what James Baker has to say. ITs irrelevant in my opinion as it would seem to place Israel in the role of sacrificial lamb. And does not address the problems of Arab settling in areas that were not theirs naturally. Mr Baker go back to the drawing board. I think you are quite wrong.
13. If there is no magic formula, then why Golan formula here??
KMR ,   Middle East   (12.06.06)
14. Same old, same old
Debbie ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (12.06.06)
No one can guarantee our security except ourselves. Supposedly that is what was learned in the time leading up to the founding of the state!
15. Baker
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (12.06.06)
Time to tell him what he can do with his "suggestions."
16. no Baker, Jewish occupation in Palestine is the problem
george ,   usa   (12.06.06)
Israel has not turned Golan into killing fields as it did in Gaza and W. Bank. Sure, returning the Golan Heights is a step in the right direction (though should have happened 30 years ago) but won't solve US problems in the mideast as American mideast problems are all the result of Jewish occupation in Palestine, not Syria.
17. Tell US to give back all stolen Indian tribal lands!
JJ ,   Brooklyn In da House   (12.06.06)
Dream On Baker you Faker. Nice try. Syrian back log of un fulfilled UN resolutions + fantasy demands for Syria to become a neighborly state are automatically skipped over to leverage Israel to retreat from the Golan? Who's stupid enuff to buy this crap? Another US spin to buy Syria to ease US outta Iraq.
18. esav hates yaacov = usa hate israel
jewish israeli   (12.06.06)
19. US guarantees are worthless...
Nannette ,   London, UK   (12.06.06)
Look at the presidential promise Israel got about the Saudis deploying F-15s at Tabuk airbase, 150 kilometers from Eilat. Bush broke that promise, made years ago, and he doesn't mind breaking any promises now. Guarantees to Jews made by James Baker are as good as guarantees made by Hitler.
20. The conditions Syria must fulfill
ger ,   Raanana, Israel   (12.06.06)
Hell will freeze over before Syria agrees to any ONE of these conditions.
21. And America should return Texas to Mexico
JPS ,   Efrat   (12.06.06)
Actually, I think that what Rabin said still stands. The extent of Israeli withdrawal will be equal to the amount of peace we get from Syria. Full withdrawal? Sure. But the Syrians must give us full peace. That means open borders, free flow of goods and people, full diplomatic relations, embassy in Tel Aviv, cultural/scientific/sports exchanges, syrian athletes will have to compete against Israeli athletes at the Olymypics, yadda yadda yadda. Don't hold your breath unless Assad is deposed.
22. U.S. Guarantees are worhtless
Michael   (12.06.06)
what good are guarantees. tThe U.S. can't Guarantee that the Iranians won't get the nuke. So what happens, in the future, when syria causes trouble?! The U.S. will say we have too many of our own problems. then what? Once again, the world loves to give Israel worthless pieces of peace in return for a fake peace. How many times, will Israel fall for the same trick?
23. James Baker Was & Is a Saudi Whore
Jerry ,   NYC, USA   (12.06.06)
Nothing new here.
24. BAKER SELLOUT TO SAUDIS
Sam Weinstein ,   USA   (12.06.06)
Sounds like a Baker Sellout to the Saudis to me. Sell Israel down the river is what the commission is saying. Something smells rotten in denmark Saudi Money and influence is the key to a lot of our diplomatic problems now. Saudi Money flowing into Universities, and also think tanks as well as other areas and buisness interest have tried to turn the tide from of public sentiment from Israel to the Arabs. One of the ways to fight this is to get our own Billionaires which Israel has at least one or two to start doing the same thing to counter this influence. Also investigate and expose those Saudi Money trails to the Universities, buisness interest, and think tanks and also to individuals if there is evidence.
25. Jordan is a Apartheid State 80% Palis
Sam Weinstein ,   USA   (12.06.06)
Make Jordan a Palis State as should be with her population is 80% Palis. This would actually solve all the problems of the Middle east
26. No to external interferences
Brod ,   USA   (12.06.06)
Israel should reject any proposal that will compromise its national security and allow Israel's arch enemies to usurp its biblical and historic homeland, including talk about the Golan. The Golan is part of the State of Israel and should never be given away. No matter what the dreamers think, their dream of peace in a region that is built on Islamist-Jihadism exists only in fantasyland. As David Ben Gurion reminded the young Warrior Ariel Sharon in the 1950s, that no matter what the world would say, Israel could not depend on others to protect her from external aggressions. Israel alone would have to protect its people and country from external interferences and attacks. Israel should never succumb to external interferences and pressures engineered by Islamist-Jihadist entities, pertaining to its internal affairs and national security interests. When Anti-Semites and Islamist-Jihadists work hand in hand to compromise Israel's national security and usurp Israel's biblical and historic homeland for Islamist-Jihadists to reduce Israel to a tiny speck of indefensible land in its own biblical and historic homeland--State of Israel, Israel must reject them outright. Israel is a sovereign country. Its sovereignity and national security interests must never be allowed to be compromised because of the internal problems of other countries in the region or in the world. Israel is not a slave that can be traded from one slave owner to another. The fact is the CORE of the Middle East conflicts, whether it is in Israel, Iraq, Lebanon, Iran, or in any of the Islamist-Jihadist states in the region, or for that matter, the Islamist-Jihadist terrorisms in Darfur, Somalia, Afghanistan, Kashmir, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Southern Thailand, Europe, America and Russia, IS THE RISING TIDE OF ISLAMIST-JIHADISM DRIVEN BY THEIR RELIGIOUS INDOCTRINATION OF THE HOUSE OF ISLAM AND THE HOUSE OF WAR. Read "Religion of Peace? Islam's War Against The World" [2006] by Gregory M. Davis, PhD, and "Hatred's Kingdom. How Saudi Arabia Supports the New Global Terrorism" [2003] by Dore Gold, PhD. These two outstanding MUST READ books contain razor sharp research pertaining to the rising tide of Islamist-Jihadism. They are Must Read books for the West--America, Europe and Israel and those who are trying to solve the conundrum of the Middle East conflicts and the rising tide of Islamist-Jihadism and Terrorisms around the world.
27. when will this old anti-semite just drop dead already
Moshe ,   Beit Shemesh   (12.06.06)
remember - f*** the Jews this is just a new style of doing it, eh?
28. I remember James Baker
Besalel ,   Kew Gardens, NY   (12.06.06)
He of the famous quote, ""F*** the Jews, they didn't vote for us anyway," Yes, that James Baker thinks Israel should give up the Golan.
29. Baker,Rice Bush..........
A Shoah Jew ,   Israel   (12.06.06)
You will not in the light of G-d and all humanity dispose of Jews quite so easily this time. While the world gives a damn as to our fate and while we seem ready bait to your enemies you will pay a price. Bush you may have tried to pull the wool over our eyes but now we see you for what you are.
30. WAKE UP and
Betty ,   U.S   (12.06.06)
see the light. Baker is a mere extension of Bush. For those who fail to see it you are covering the truth.
