There is never justification not to protect a prisoner from abuse. I'm sure my comment will elicit angry responses. Before you respond, I ask you this, if you were in prison, would you want precautions and protections from guard beatings. the nature of those protections is, of course, a HUGE question that needs a debate. (again, i expect angry, non-substantive responses to this point too). imagine, for a moment, that he WAS being beaten. how terrible. how would u feel if your family member were in jail, for whatever reason, and was being beaten? you would be terrified and in a state of great distress. u would do all that u could do prevent recurrence of the beatings. don't underestimate the pain of beating. it is just a word, you have to imagine that physical pain that it really represents. it is not legal and not moral under any circumstance, regardless of the crimes of the person being beaten. here too, i expect some people to say that he deserves beating. shame on you for saying that. to you i say, beating people should never be condoned and if you disagree then you are horrible unethical and disgusting person.

Sadly the officers preferred to display him as a trophy in a useless attempt to clean the organization pathetic failure. But I forgot... nobody cares about prisoner rights anyway... and no, I'm not talking about feeding convicted criminal but following the laws of this country. when you say could restore confidence,....... how do you make the connection ?? confidence can only be restored when measures are put in place that ensure this never happens again. Also when I make a mistake at work, I get told to fix it and do not get congratulated when I do, why should I, ?? the mistake should not have happened in the first place.
