1. Thanks ynet for informative story

I can't believe people can be so low as to frame an innocent person and see him wrongly imprisoned. It must be the influence of the drugs that got to them. All you young people looking forward to visiting India, beware! The same goes, I would think for South America. My heart goes out to the young man mentioned in this story and to his family. He has wonderful parents. He takes a lot of courage and willpower to just leave everything they had in Israel to be near their son in his time of need. I repeat: these are wonderful parents. Must be great for their son's morale. I hope someone can help him and have him returned to Israel asap. My prayers are with him and his family.
2. Hard lessons - Stay out of India

As a lawyer I often find cases of people going to places like India, Malaysia, Columbia, the UAE, etc...The newly billed tourist hotspots. What is shocking to many of these travellers is that when faced with the legal system of these countries, it is appaulling. I have read more than a few cases where business men are imprisoned (esp. in the Arab world) and practically extorted by a plaintiff (usually the poor guy's business partner) with the aid of his friends in teh court and in the police. THE LAW IS NOT LIKE IN THE US, EU. AUSTRALIA or ISRAEL. BE AWARE. They adhere to loose rules, there is no consistency nor respect for procedure, timelimits or even legal reasoning (alot of the time there is no oral arguements) I hate how some simply write-off such criticisms as not understanding their culture or society. Fact is, it is deficient in law. PERIOD. I'd rather be in a murder case in Texas than in Indonesia. The drug game is long running in Asia(had a few cases in which a similiar experience happened in Thailand to a few like students). These youth are attracted to a sort of bohemian lifestyle and 'roughing' it for their time there. And it is an experience. However, there are more than a few savvy dealers and whatnot who will turn these kids into scapegoats or into unsuspecting mules for transport. The rule is to 'research' where you are going. Know the laws, know the dangers. There is nothing romanticized nor 'cool' about landing where this boy is. And if I have told clients once, I said 1000 times...Stay AWAY from drugs in such countries. Not saying this boy was or wasnt. But if you want to do drugs and back back...Enjoy the flatlands of Holland.
4. Note to Self: Don't travel to India !

5. Excellent lessons...
Adam Admati ,   Israel   (12.11.06)
Parents, these are the children YOU raised. The dealers, users and innocents all were all raised by Israeli parents to be elbow-using, don't-give-a-damn about anyone else, self-interested, indulgent lay-a-bouts! India's police and justice systems are doing a far better job than the police and government , here.

my advice to 'Haim' would be to go and beg and plead their case in front of Bal Thackeray, the leader of the Shiv Sena, and the only man in Mumbai who has the power to effect an early release for Haim's son. In comparison to the rampant corruption in India, Israel is a paradise.
7. The world hates Israeli travellers
paul ,   il   (12.11.06)
Israeli travellers are hated the world over-why am I not suprised.
8. you want to do soft drugs, go to Amsterdam...
female ,   TA   (12.11.06)
I lived many years in the far east, my husband was working for the MFA and I used to visit prisoners, mostly Israeli and western Europeans in jail ...it was heartbreaking, the jails in the far east are not like in western europe or even Israel...parents warn your kids...they want to experiment with soft drugs buy them a retour ticket to Amsterdam...
9. To Israelis: Don't lose the trust of Indian non-Muslims !

10. # 8 You seem to have missed the point
malcolm   (12.11.06)
The kid probably didn't do drugs but was framed. That's the nauseating part of the story. Kids, regardless of their drug use status should not touch down in India.
11. #5 - Adam - so sorry you hate Israel so much.

12. Israel
FRIEND   (12.12.06)
I love the country. But what about all these reports about corruption , prostitution , drug dealing ? Apart from the political malaise inside the country and the external threat , the country seems to sink into a deep morass of moral turpitude. I do not want to sound like a wowser , but Israels reputation is shot hell ! Am I WRONG ?
