I think there is a big misconception here. The buisness ties with iran are officially supported because they are a way to assert pressure on Teheran. Do you ever wonder why iranians care about trade sanctions? because they have trade. How good isolation helps to prevent the development of nuclear weapons we have seen in north korea. There leaders told them lies and made them leave with false promises. And after that made them permanetnt refugees and used them as political footbals.
