Nice try. I knew a few "Turkish" Jews. Your problem is Eastern Palistine. And that was %76 of Palistine. 750, 000 refugees? really. how about the same amount (or more) of Jewish refugees from Arab lands. Your figures do not add up to what the British historian's figures add up to. Oh, and you forgot the thousands of Arabs who had recently immigarted to westyern Palistine at the same time the Jews were immigrating. And I guess we want to sweep under the carpet the fact that thousands of Arabs left the area before even seeing an Israeli soldier in 1948 because they were scared of them from the bull and propaganda spewed from Arab leaders. And lets not forget the Arabs who stayed and /or fought with the Israelis. It sounds like you want to be fair. Keep trying. Maybe it will dawn on you yet. John Bagot Glub accounted for expulsions of Arabs from western Palistine and I do believe it happened. But lets face it, if you put Arabs under the microscope like Arabs do to Jews, Arabs definately did a lot more damage to the Jewish population. 1948 was a war of extermination for Arabs and they lost. You need to face it.

Moshe Dayan was born in Western Palistine and even said in his memoirs he liked Arabs better than he liked the European Jews. You see, he was born and lived in Palistine, but you seem to deny him his heritage. Rabin too. and denying all those Jews who have been in the ancient land of Israel through out the millenium is like denying the houlocaust
35. To Khalid - my Jewish town dates back from 1891
Sharon ,   Hadera, Israel   (12.19.06)
It was only swampland then, but was purchased by early settlers and dried using eucalyptus trees that were imported from Australia. Many of these early settlers died of malaria, but eventually the land was tamed and orchards planted. We now have a flourishing town.

sharon, this is an achievement the arabs could never master no matter what! our land of milk and honey was once a malaria filled swamp. our jewish/israeli brains and tenacity and brilliance turned it over to a beautiful oasis. kol hakavod. then, the arabs came to relocate near those oasis and israeli farms for jobs and opportunities for their livelihoods and were employed by the jewish settlers as farm hands.

1) The claim some people are making that Palestine is not a real nation reveals a certain ignorance. The whole concept of a nation is socialized; nations exist only because the people of that nation have a spirit of nationalism, and consider themselves part of that nation. The thing that makes Israel a nation is that most Israelis consider themselves part of an Israeli nation with a certain unified history, which is selective, as all nations create some sort of mythology suggesting that the nation existed throughout history when in fact nationalism is a phenomenon of the last few centuries at most, and most "traditions" actually date back no more than a few generations. Put more bluntly as the philosopher Renan did, a nation is just a group of people who share a misunderstanding of history and a hatred of their neighbors. To say that my nation is real and yours is not is like saying that my god is real and yours is not. 2) Many people have been claiming that Palestine was empty of Arabs until recently. This claim has been universally dismissed by all serious historians. One person even cited Joan Peters, who has no academic credentials and whose work has been completely discredited. The unanimous historical consensus is that Arabs existed in Palestine (of course it was less populated than today like every other piece of land on earth) and were forcibly expelled by Zionists; even Shlomo Ben Ami acknowledges this in his recent book. To actually say to someone like Khalid that his grandfather is a liar is like telling a Jew that his grandfather was lying about the Holocaust. It really must take a lot of willpower to just block out reality in this way. 3) Even if none of what I've said is true, there is still the fact that there are millions of Palestinians living in the West Bank and Gaza right now (they are Palestinians because they consider themselves so, but if you want to call them just Arabs or anything else it doesn't matter). What do you intend to do with them? If Israel owns this land, you must make these people citizens. Otherwise, you must expel them from their homes, or rule over them without granting them any rights (which is the present apartheid like reality). You cannot ignore these people forever. Although, if the present level of historical ignorance continues, perhaps Israel will expel all of them, then in 30 years Kyle and Joan Peters will claim they were never there.

God has the original title deed to Israel and just because someone does not believe in the God of creation does not nullify the deed. The EC has no footing to accuse Israel of breaking international law without pointing a finger at Israels neighbors.

When Israel declared its independece, David Ben Gurion called for the arab population to live in peace with them. Ups!.... BUT ALL ARAB COUNTRIES REJECTED THE UN 1947 PARTITION PLAN! UPS... FOR 19 YEARS GAZA WAS IN CONTROL OF EGYPT AND WEST BANK OF JORDAN,... DID THEY SAY ANYTIHING? NO. DID ANY ARAB COUNTRY SAID ANYTHING? NO. ALL WARS BEGAN BECAUSE OF ARAB HOSTILITIES, ANTISEMITISM AND LOVE OF DEATH, TO KILL AND THROW EVERY JEWISH PERSON TO THE SEA. ISRAEL ALWAYS WANTED AND WANTS PEACE! WHY SHOULD ISRAEL GIVE THEM RIGHTS? FIRST, ´COS THEY DID THAT FROM THE VERY BEGINNING!, BUT ARABS REJECTED A PALESTINIAN STATE. DO YOU LOOK AT THE MAP OF THE UN PARTITION PLAN? I´M SICK OF HEARING THAT ISRAEL MUST DEAL WITH THE PALS, GIVE THEM RIGHTS. GOD! ASK THE EGYPTIAN AND JORDANS TO DO SO! GAZA IS PART OF EGYPT AND WEST BANK OF JORDAN. AND BESIDES,ISRAEL LEFT GAZA LAST YEAR, MADE THAT DIFFICULT DECISION. WHAT DID THE PALS DID? THEY FIRED ROCKETS, MADE A TUNNEL INTO ISRAELI TERRITORY AND CAPTURED A IDF SOLDIER! THEY DESTROYED THE TEMPLES, DID THEY BUILD THINGS? THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE PALS, NOT ONLY ARE IGNORANTS ABOUT THEIR OWN HISTORY, ABOUT THEIR FELLOW ARAB COUNTRYS BETRAYAL IN THE FIRST PLACE, ABOUT ARAFAT MILLIONS IN SWISS BANKS, BUT ALSO BECAUSE THEY TEACH HATRED, MARTYRDOM, ANTISEMITISM AND DESTRUCTION. THEY REJOICE AFTER 9/11, THE REJOICE WHEN SCUDS MISSILES FELL IN TEL AVIV DURING THE GULF WAR, THE REJOICE EVERYTIME A PERSON GETS KILLED, BUT THEN WHEN HASSAN NAZIRALLAH FIRED ROCKETS AND KILLED 2 ARAB ISRAELI kids(THEY HAVE RIGHTS YOU KNOW IN ISRAEL) HE SAID UPS! THEY ARE MARTYRS! THEY ARE SO FULL OF LIES AND HIPOCRESY THAT MAKES ME SICK! WHAT ABOUT JORDAN, 1970: BLACK SEPTEMEBER, WHAT ABOUT HAMA CITY IN SYRIA 20 THOUSAND PALS DEAD. I´M TIRED. LONG LIVE ISRAEL

That seems to be the general attitude of Islamists - if we ever were there, it's ours forever.
43. Europe's position on this one is meaningless hot air.
Zvi ,   USA   (12.20.06)
The EU has shown that it has absolutely no concern for Israeli lives. It has also shown that it is blind, deaf and very stupid regarding the reality of the world around it, and it's clear that this was done in order to score political points. As a supporter of peace and a just solution between Israel and the Palestinians, I say this: until the Palestinians accept that they must live in peace beside Israel, without plans to turn on it and wipe it out in some genocidal slaughter, there will NEVER be peace, and while that is true, Israel should NOT be forced to turn the WB into a second Gaza, a launch pad for rockets against Israeli cities. Let the Palestinians prove in Gaza that when Israel withdraws from territory, conflict ENDS on that border. Until then, nobody has any right to tell Israel to replicate that failed strategy.
