If one has one partner, and only partner, there would be no need for this stupid advice for Abigail. Your article is an open call for sin.
2. good point...
Andre ,   TLV   (12.27.06)
I still remember when a girl I was dating got shocked when I told her that I would have to go to the AM/PM to buy condoms... indeed it was a great idea. The pakidah from AM/PM said bye saying "enjoy your night". Quite charming. :-)
3. good advice: always wear your kippa when you go camping...
(12.27.06)
...the bush is a wondeful place but watch out for the tigers :) Happy safe boinking everyone ;)
4. safety first
eddie ,   london UK   (12.27.06)
yes, indeed, protection is vital, HIV is not curable, and it kills and will kill a future partner as well as future children, so be very careful everybody!
5. ... looking for trouble!
enzo ,   london,uk   (12.27.06)
100% agree with Abigail...as always! Protection, protection, protection. It's not the same though, you have to admit it! Different feeling, a bit artificial...somehow it takes the flavour away! It's all the girls' fault anyway, and we men know it! There were not so many STDs before "liberalisation" of the "female", before feminism was introduced to our society! Once upon a time, a couple of penicillin shots would cure it...Now, thanks to our "girlfriends", we are even afraid to kiss a woman!
6. better safe than sorry means...
Ruth Shlomo ,   HaSharon Israel   (12.27.06)
...better NOT have pre-marital sex. period! The Laws in the Torah were decreted to protect us and our health. Did someone think about it? dec2711pm il time
7. Wondering Jews...
Shlo ,   USA   (12.28.06)
I thought this was a Jewish website. Why are you propagation fornication amongst the choosen. Are you not to live a life holy unto your Elohim???
8. enzo ferrari
eddie ,   london uk   (12.28.06)
Enzo, actually, HIV came into the human species with the spread of virulous homosexual behaviour , by men, not women, so dont blame women
9. ruthie
eddie ,   london Uk   (12.28.06)
Ruth, mayeb u are right morally, but a) not everyone gets married at 16 , some dont even in middle age, so should they remain monks? anyway, every lifestyle has physical risks, even being frum has risks. more frum jews were murdered thru the ages than secular jews died of stds, so is that good reason to be secular and promiscuous?
10. Israel needs to clean up her act
marilyn   (12.28.06)
This sort of loose thinking and acting is bringing reproach on israel. Your need to be seen as being sophisticated and grown up is damaging your reputation as a country and portraying the women of israel as immoral daughters. This brings reproach on your families on your nation and on your Creator. Your enemies appear more righteous then you do. If you want the best for your people you must change your immoral behavior, because God chose Israel to give his moral 'Laws.'

What the hell kind of Torah do you read? Oh wait, the post-Christian one... "Jews" like you make me sick. You must be a descendant of a hellenistic Jew (YUCK).
12. #11
enzo ,   london,uk   (12.28.06)
First: #6 didn't say anything wrong in his talkback! Let's be frank: he's right! Second: do not forget that there are and there have been hundreds of thousands of great hellenistic Jews all around the glorious Mediterranean. Unless I'm missing something, I don't understand why you hate hellenistic Jews. Quite honestly, I'd love to learn something I don't know.
13. #8
enzo ,   london,uk   (12.28.06)
Wrong! Homosexuality was more widespread in Roman and Greek times than it is today, yet there was no HIV. Try again...
14. Yeah lets start blame each other on who brought HIV to this
Shai ,   Los angeles, CA   (12.28.06)
Enzo from U.K was stupid enough to blame weman for STD's.. And Eddie also from the U.K was even more stupid (actually a total moron) for blaming Gays and lesbians for HIV.. - are you guys nuts??!! Ya'll are way behind! Thank god you added the "U.K thing" so pepole wouldn't think your Israeli Shai, guy 23 yo, Hollywood / Tel Aviv

To attempt to turn a human into something beyond a human is a great sin for we place ourselves above that for which we were created for and in doing so attempt to put ourselves on the same level as g-d (quite a big sin wouldn't you agree?). Humans have sexual desires and to play pious and cap (to an extreme extent) these desires decays the mind. Living such a tight life is disgusting and comparable to a eunich, the only difference is that the eunich had no say in the matter. I'm not in the slightest saying no to condoms I strongly believe in them. I am saying no to living a semi- celebate lifestyle which is what I'm reading from a signifigant portion of the posters on here. Unprotected sex is not solved by putting a chastity belt on every man and woman. It is not solved by decreeing one can only have sex after they are married. There is no quick fix and the ostrich with its head in the sand method will not erase the fact you are born with a pen!s, or vagin@, so accept certain facts and instead of trying to dominate (in an extremist fashion) your behaviour learn to deal with things in life. #1 The only sin I see is your totalitarian call the chastize both women and men. If men and women engage in a mature relationship and treat each with respect then the sex in the relationship is a far shot from being a sin (whether they be married or not). #5 read #8. #6 In the Torah it says a man must pleasure the woman. if we're not experienced we shall fail horribly in attempting to pleasure the woman and in doing so fail the decree. Your a heretic for inciting that I should not uphold what the Torah has taught. #10 just read everything above.

Your ignorant lout, I'm not talking about Jews that live in Grece (technically they would be hellenic Jews so excuse me for the symantic error). I'm refering to the hellenism the Macabee's fought against. You never took a Jewish history course did you enzo? I'm talking about the ideals that the hellenistic movement sought to impose on the Jews.
17. to all the talkbackers here
(12.28.06)
the discussion was about unprotected sex why the fcuk are you all talking crap about hellenistic this or dati that? Do me a favour all of you Come to Israel and open your eyes little bit and if you here already then do yourself a big favour and pull your heads out the sand and take a day trip outside of mea sharim you might just open your minds a little instead of wasting time talking the biggest load of BS I've ever heard in my life PS nice article abi
18. Everyone a little high tempered?
Jonathan Levi ,   Jerusalem Israel   (12.28.06)
Nice article. I'm slightly surprised that people still don't get the fact that protected sex is a must. When your married there's still a need for it unless you plan to populate the whole earth. Another sad fact but one that should be raised is that if someone cheats and contracts an STD they put their spouse at risk. I'm not exactly sure how or why everyone became so off topic but my thoughts are pretty much in line with #17. You all need to spend a few weeks in Israel. Relax enjoy the hot springs in hamat gader. Have some fun in eilat. And most importantly mingle with the locals it will open your eyes greatly.

israluv ,   jerusalem israel   (12.28.06)
respect yourselves enough to know that no man is worth unprotected sex... NO Man. or Woman.. just remember that every time you kiss or sleep around with one person - you kiss and sleep around with all their partners and their partners and their partners....

a lot of people are simply hypocrit here !! the question is not about jew or not jew the question is about safe sex and these are good recommendation for people or are not religious !!

tma   (12.28.06)
From your talkbacks to this article as well as other talkbacks to other articles, you express so much hate for women! What IS your problem? Was your mummy too overbearing? I suggest you get sorted out by a psychiatrist.
22. To cut a long story short
enzo ,   london,uk   (12.28.06)
Scientific research has shown that latex condoms are an effective barrier against HIV and the viruses and bacteria that cause major STDs (but, some STDs, like herpes and wart virus, can spread through any skin-to-skin contact). Other ways to avoid STDs is not to have sex at all, or to have sex only with a single partner in a monogamous relationship (after each partner has been tested for STDs and is uninfected). #16: you're so rude! "Your symantic (sic!) error" led to my error!
23. tma
enzo ,   london,uk   (12.28.06)
As if WE didn't know you...! You have always something to say about other people's comments, but never a contribution from your little brain! By the way...I adore women (but not you!).
24. question re: how you find out
(12.28.06)
I'm serious here - I really don't know. For those of you who do, how do you find out whether your partner has an STD? What do you mean by "getting tested"? Do you really mean that at some point, both partners agree to be tested before they have unprotected sex? Is asking to be tested kind of like what used to be when you got down on your knee and proposed? It seems like that would be a very, very uncomfortable moment. And, let's assume that you discovered that the partner you've been having sex with, though with a condom, does have an STD? Now that you're serious enough to have asked them to get tested, how do you deal with finding out that, for example, you could now have Herpes? I've always wondered how singles deal with this - I'd be interested in reading your answers.
25. to #24
(12.28.06)
yes its uncomfortable to ask but you ask it: can we both go to the doc to get tested for the major stds? Yes or no? If answer no, then dont have sex with this one Its not a big deal, there lots of fish in the sea If you really in love with this one, and they positive for some std then you see what treatment you can get and you are then making informed choice whether to have sex or not with this one - its your choice but you know for sure if they , or you, got something yes or not If its one night stand (not for me) then its your choice and you live by the consequences. Maybe you get a surprise maybe no.

telavivt ,   telaviv   (12.29.06)
just al ittle more to add, in recent years HIV/AIDS has risen here in Israel and has declined in countries such as Australia, who run educational programs and harm minimisation centres. I know cause I was employed by the Australian government to help stop the spread of blood borne viruses in Australia. Too bad the Israeli Government doesnt fund such projects.
28. Israelis are no longer God's people !
Ruth (formerly jew) ,   Tel Aviv   (01.01.07)
From my jewish background, the Laws in th Torah are no longer kept along the vast majority of Israelis. Nevertheless the faith in the Torah alone will not save any Jew whatsoever, since the the time Jesus Christ (Messiah) came around 2000 years ago, God's chosen people are called Christians who follow the teachigs of the whole Bible, Old & New testament. The Jews nowadays have no significant difference from any other ethnic group in earth with respect to being God's own. Whoever came to believe in Christ from any background will be then called as God's own people.

(01.14.07)
Dear enzo, I read your comment. It reminded me of what I once heard from a rabbi. He said that the truth is that it starts with the man; in that one sports himself snazzilly in front of ladies and ultimately it is in his control. He gave alot of shiurim -lectures about this - from the Sefer Mishlei. In there, Shlomo Hamelech -King Solomon of blessed memory, writes much advice to all Jews. Interestingly he does warn of the 'wicked lady'; however this refers to a lady who tries to entice a man - but ultimately it all starts when goes down the wrong alleyway. (In the verse in one of the first few perakim -chapters.) Thus with the help of Heaven, may we all merit to find true love and radiat it and continue to build the Kllal Yisroel -Community [-Nation] of Israel. Have a great day!!
