Adam ,   Chicago   (12.30.06)
This "great" man who once said that he had lust in his heart is wrong. It's not lust that is in his heart, but hatred. And that hatred is directed towards Israel and Jews. Another thing Mr. Carter is wrong about, the name of the state. It is NOT Palestine as he says in his book repeatedly. It IS ISRAEL! And it has been since 1948!
67. All anti-Semites rally to Carter's defense.
AK   (12.30.06)
Carter, the most incompetent President in the history of the U.S and a fervent anti-Semite, who told Sunday-school kids that God does not listen to the prayers of the Jews. Those anti-Semites here rallying to old Jimmah's defense are not much of a surprise, but those Jews who still defend him and deny the obvious are even worse.

71. CARTER - Brave, Courageous, Honorable
S.Hughes ,   Huntington,LI   (12.30.06)
As I was born in 1981, I could not vote for Jimmy Carter. However, it would have been an honor and a privilege to have been able to do so. Carter has dared to confront AIPAC, who has our politicians in a tightly suffocating grip. Israel has committed one atrocities after the other against the Palestinian people and our politicians afraid of AIPAC have been complicit in that crime. I salute Jimmy Carter. His book, Palestine Peace Not Partheid has been selected as a topic for our bookclub.

Carter won't debate ,   About his book. Why?   (12.30.06)
Carter is currently being sued by Dennis Ross, Clinton's advisor during the Camp David talks, because Carter used Ross' maps in his books, without citing them, and then deliberately mislabeled them to put Arafat's rejection in a better light. http://jpundit.typepad.com/jci/2006/12/carters_maps_wo.html Dershowitz's refutation of several of Carter's more egregious factual errors is also good: http://www.aish.com/societyWork/arts/Carters_Distorted_World.asp As is this one: http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/reviews/carter.html

Peter, are you old enough to remember the Carter presidency?? He gave away the Panama Canal because the Panamanians threatened to blow it up! This was so overt and blatant that the President of Panama said so in a speach he gave in Washington right in front of Carter!!! (It was on national television and I watched the whole thing!) All Carter did is just smile his stupid, big toothy smile and continue to give away a very strategic asset! Guess who now runs the Panama Canal? Communist Chinese!! What about Iran? If Carter had not been such a coward, we sure could have handled that fiasco differently!!

No Fan of Carter   (12.30.06)
Since I also live in Huntington, perhaps I can offer you a bit of neighborly advice because it's pretty evident that you have a very one-sided view regarding the situation between Israel and the Palestinians (and, by the way, it might interest you to know there is no such place as Palestine, regardless of what Jimmy Carter has chosen to call his book) and rather you seem to be driven by a particular agenda. In fact, as a life-long Democrat who voted for Jimmy Carter, I can tell you that his motives for writing such a piece of historical revisionism are, obviously, far from pure, and the proof is his refusal to debate the issues with anyone who has significant knowlege and experience in dealing with the conflict. Have you asked yourself why it is that someone like Kenneth Stein, who had been affiliated with the Carter Center for several years, publicly excoriated him on his re-writing of history and why he even went so far as to disassociate himself from the center? And why did Dennis Ross accuse Carter of plagiarism? The truth is that Jimmy Carter is anything but "brave, courageous and honorable." What he is is a sycophant who slobbers over some of the world's worst tyrants and terrorists. And since you've chosen his book for your book club, I'd suggest you try to also find somebody who has written a book that can open your eyes to the reality of the conflict, and not just Jimmy Carter who sees the Middle East through the onerous prism of replacement theology. And I'd also suggest if you're going to accuse AIPAC of having a "tightly suffocating grip" (an accusion which comes perilously close to sounding like some sort of idiotic KKK conspiracy theory), perhaps you should begin by looking into the stranglehold that Saudi oil money has had on this country for decades. For instance, you might just want to consider the fact that James Baker's law firm is defending the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia against a lawsuit being brought by several family members of victims of 9/11. And that, of course, would be the same James Baker who will probably have a good deal of influence over America's policy vis-a-vis Iraq. Well, you know what they always say. "Money talks...bullshit walks."

80. Carter's Anti semiisim?
Guy ,   Dallas US   (12.30.06)
Seems like Israelis have carnered the use of teh term to me. To my knowledge all peoples native to that area are semitic. You all use that term so much it will eventually lose its power. I know it's hard to justify the killing of many innocents and herding them of the coveted lands you seek. So I guess if you can't argue the logic you chastise the pponent. I'm sure G-d is so proud of you all these days.......

http://www.answers.com/topic/anti-semitism Hostility toward or discrimination against Jews as a religious group or “race.” Although the term anti-Semitism has wide currency, it is regarded by some as a misnomer, implying discrimination against all Semites, including Arabs and other peoples who are not the targets of anti-Semitism as it is usually understood.
82. Who is Carter
Greg ,   California   (12.31.06)
To whom Carter wrote his book: ____________________ ... some 10,000 people rallied in the center of metro Detroit's Arab-American community in Dearborn on Tuesday...carried signs saying "Down, down Israel" ... "We know that the president is being bought by the Zionist lobby. We know that the (U.S.) Congress is being bought by the Zionist lobby ... a speaker held a portrait of Hassan Nasrallah, Hizballah's secretary-general. The crowd burst into applause. Rana Abbas-Chami, deputy director of the Michigan Chapter of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, called ... The U.S. is just as guilty as Israel is. History will not forgive, nor will it ever forget, these ..." Many people among metro Detroit's Arab-American population say they believe Hizballah -- considered a terrorist group by the U.S. government ... BY NIRAJ WARIKOO, FREE PRESS STAFF WRITERS. July 19, 2006 __________________ The people above is exactly the target audience of Carter's book. See also: Carter the unbiased observer of the Middle East that he claims to be. He has accepted money and an award from Sheik Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahyan, saying in 2001: "This award has special significance for me because it is named for my personal friend, Sheik Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahyan." This is the same Zayed, the long-time ruler of the United Arab Emirates, whose $2.5 million gift to the Harvard Divinity School was returned in 2004 due to Zayed's rampant Jew-hatred. Zayed's personal foundation, the Zayed Center, claims that it was Zionists, rather than Nazis, who "were the people who killed the Jews in Europe" during the Holocaust. It has held lectures on the blood libel and conspiracy theories about Jews and America perpetrating Sept. 11. Carter's acceptance of money from this biased group casts real doubt on his objectivity and creates an obvious conflict of interest. © Copyright 2006 Globe Newspaper Company. Thank you Rabbi Brackman for a concise, well written article on Carters Book. Most thinking Americans have long since giving up respecting Jimmy Carter as an ex-president and think of him more as a crotchety old man.

86. Carter's lies maybe not antisemitically motivated
Gideon W ,   Boulder, Colorado, U   (12.31.06)
Rabbi Brackman's thesis that Carter is an anti-semite has some merit, but there is some counterevidence, for example: a) Ken Stein, who was the "Middle East Scholar" at the Carter Center and co-author of a previous Carter book, who resigned in protest at Carter's lying book, claims he never heard an antisemitic word from Carter over many years, and b) The "antisemitic" explanation doesn't account for items in JC's history such as his unbounded praise for the North Korean dictator. Elements such as narcissism and sociopathy, and tens of millions of dollars or more (hundreds by one account) of Arab money to the Carter Center over the last decades, are probable ingredients of any good formulation of the Carter case. Some kind of underdog concern and prejudice might well also be an ingredient. As for the Carter claim that the Rabbi quotes ("while writing this book he read almost every book on the subject. If this is indeed the case - and there is no reason to doubt it "), there is every reason to doubt it. On its face, it is another Carter lie. Think about the fact that JC's book includes maps stolen from the Dennis Ross book, "The Missing Peace", which is one of the handful of truly essential books for understanding the negotiations of the past years, by a man who was directly involved, including his years as Clinton's chief negotiator -- Carter's book steals the maps and then misleadingly mislabels them. And, when confronted, JC said in a CNN interview that he had never seen the book. No one interested in the facts could fail to study that book, but Carter doesn't need facts for the kind of thing he has done. Gideon, Boulder

IF you want to see it all click on the link http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/reviews/carter.html " Curiously enough, if you read through almost the entire book, which persistently accuses Israel of apartheid acts, you arrive at page 189, where he specifically contradicts the entire thesis by stating, “The driving purpose for the forced separation of the two peoples is unlike that in South Africa.” In fact, the only tangential support for the title of the book is an anonymous quotation from an Israeli lamenting the treatment of Palestinians. " " Throughout the book, for example, he asserts that Israel does not want peace, is stealing Palestinian land, and refuses to trade land for peace. Yet, he reports that on his first visit to Israel in 1973, Israeli leaders wanted to trade land for peace. Later, he acknowledges that Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin concluded an agreement with Jordan, announced his willingness to negotiate with Syria and concluded an agreement with Yasser Arafat on Gaza and Jericho. " carter is doing the cheapest thing in the book and two words explain it.. double speech this is where the parts become .. disturbing. " In a fawning section about the Saudis, Carter talks about the “impressive closeness” of the monarchy to the subjects while ignoring the apartheid aspects of Saudi society. He says nothing about the Saudis’ crude anti-Semitism and their rejection of the idea that Jews should rule over any Muslim territory. Carter praises the Saudi peace proposal without examining the various elements that made it a nonstarter for serious negotiations with Israel, not to mention the Saudi rejection of directly negotiating with Israel or any Saudi traveling to Israel. " " He says nothing about Arafat’s role in hijackings and other terrorism." " In his discussion of the results of the 2006 election, Carter mentions the three top cabinet posts held by members of Hamas, referring to each as “Dr.” as though they were honorable professors or physicians rather than leaders of a terrorist organization. In fact, he never discusses the Hamas covenant and goal of destroying Israel at all. " "The entire discussion of the Palestinians reads like an apologia for terror. He places no demands on the Palestinians to do anything to promote peace. He does not even suggest that the Palestinians have alternatives to violence, such as negotiating, compromising or practicing nonviolence." " Paradoxically, it is Carter whose views border on racism (as well as anti-Semitism) in his paternalistic view of the Palestinians as incapable of independent, reasoned behavior. He portrays them as governed by forces beyond their control emanating primarily from the Jews"

Ted ,   US   (01.01.07)
Clinton proudly called themself The Firts Black President of USA. Because he really cared about black people of USA. Jimmi Carter can be called "The First Arab's President of USA" becase he was bought by "Saudi billionaire Gaith Pharaon, who fronted for ... the Saudi royal family. " See in more details how Mr. carter was sold to arabs: http://washingtontimes.com/op-ed/20061220-092736-3365r.htm
