7. Kabbalah conference: joke's on participants
Samuel ,   New York   (01.02.07)
I have news for the participants in this so-called kabbalah conference: the joke's on you. Kabbalah, the esoteric 'theoretical physics' of Torah learning, is traditionally only begun as a course of study after decades of disciplined observance and study of the 'exoteric' aspects of Torah. Is the Kabbalah Centre a cult-like business enterprise? Are people gullible? Is the sky blue? Is Madonna nuts? I suggest people go to www.Aish.com or www.Chabad.org for some more traditional approaches to kabbalah--it's study outside of traditional methods has been known for millennia (and even so described in the Talmud) to be potentially quite dangerous to the mental well-being of the student. On the other hand, old-fashioned chicanery is not kabbalah by any means.
8. Judaism Isn't A Mystery Religion
David ,   Israel   (01.02.07)
The deep allegories of the Torah, Aggadah, and Midrash are not to be taken lightly, and on the very deepest of levels, require a lifetime of learning and spiritual refinement to master, but they are not "secrets" and there is no shortcut to acquiring them. Judaism is a path of revelation, not concealment, and anyone who proposed their is a secret Judaism, or secrets that belong to a mystic cabal as opposed to the honest man who learns Torah for its own sake with a love of heaven, are trying to replace our honest tradition with a mystery cult. Anyone who offers you secrets, or shortcuts to closeness with God, is a charlatan, a heretic, and a fool.
