MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (12.29.06)
How strange this world is.......readers!! The same Saddam who was decisively supported by the Western Governments against his war with Iran has now become helpless and is to be, Insha Allah, hanged to death under the occupation of the same Western countries whose desire was to support this rascal and finish Iran.

8. check out this crazy idea!
713 ,   Seattle US   (12.29.06)
what would happen if Isreal, went to the league of arabs, and Iraq and ask for Saadam to be pardon. I talking about a full court press to get him to stay alive, in prison. I know it won't be successful, and I am not saying he deserves to live, but with so many Suni countries around you, it might put Isreal in a way better postion to have Allies... Especially if you protest right up to his exicution. It would make world wide headlines, and Suni's would love you!!! but then Shites would hate you.. double edge sword.
9. Time for ACTION...

12. Shame !!!!
GunsBoy ,   Halifax, Canada   (12.29.06)
Saddam deserves to die! I would love to go and shoot him myself!! He killed many people and he commanded and caused the killing of millions. But, this is bull. The way they are executing him. His fake weak trial under occupation. Most of the evidence that connects him are so weak. With his trial you cannot convict a shoplifter in the US or Canada. Yet, they will execute the former president of Iraq on such evidence. This is a MURDER not and EXECUTION. But I know the message behind this, "No arab is too strong to raise his/her head above its AMERICAN masters, look we killed the most powerful arab there was in the recent history!!" SHAME ON THE US, SHAME ON THE WHOLE WORLD ...
13. Part of The Way Forward
Jeff ,   Cherry Hill, NJ USA   (12.29.06)
Saddam will hang. Bush will call for a 'Moderate Coalition' for the Iraqi government and al-Maliki will be replaced with the Shiite Hashemi and Al-Hakim. al-Maliki thwarted Operation Together Forward when the US had Sadr City surrounded in November.
14. Saddam hanging!!
Lynne   (12.29.06)
I totally agree that Saddam deserves to be hanged.. the reason to this is becasue he was stupid enough to believe that the US support for him was to help him and his people from the Irani monster whom the Gulf states are now trembling from .. this is the only way the US could keep their military bases in the Gulf.. this should be the fate of any leader who is ready to sell out his people and morals for the sake of a few bucks and a chair...
15. Bad Move
john ,   nz   (12.29.06)
The new Iraqi PM, a Shite has good connections with Iran. Recently, the 2 Iranian officials detained by US was on invitation by the Iraqi PM proves that. Saddam being an old foe of Iran of cos would want Saddam dead. Even though I am not a Saddam fan, I still think Saddam can play an important role in the balance of Sunni-Shite power in that region. I could be wrong but Ahmedijerk needs competition.
16. And Roslyn and I always enjoyed his company
jAMES cARTER ,   Peanut, GA   (12.29.06)
hanging him is a Mossad operation tp embarass me and all like minded Jew haters
17. Israel Should Give $25k to Family of Executioner
Jeff ,   Cherry Hill, NJ USA   (12.29.06)
18. he deserves it....
YOEL   (12.29.06)
We should remember he killed many people, and never showed mercy for his victims. By the way, he is condemned to be hanged up? His own law is applied on him... At least his fair payback. All those human rights associations used to be silent in the past for his victims. That's why it's irrelevant hearing them crying for Saddam's destiniy. Good luck in hell, Saddam ;-)
19. Saddam, Hanging
Philip, London   (12.30.06)
You know, he' s a evil man, but I kinda cant feel a little sorry for him. A dishevelled man, and of course, he deserves this punishement, but, as a jew, I still feel, hes a human, and as the arabs on this site have been saying, kill him, etc, this just shows the difference bwteen us. I admit, he needs this punishement, but, I am not celebrating, like Abdullah in Kuwait. Abdullah, we dont get pleaure seeing people die, regardless of whether they are friend or foe. But thats just the difference between us. Philip
20. Tareq from, Palestine, ?
Keith   (12.30.06)
Tareq, remind me, where is Palestine? Is it of the cost of Portugal? I cannot find it on my map. Keith
21. Saddam
Bob,   (12.30.06)
The americans have handed him over to the Iraqui's? He probably already in a semi in Basingstoke by now. Will we see evidence of his demise? Bob
22. Right thing, but not legal
Ryan ,   Calgary, Canada   (12.30.06)
Saddam does deserve death, he is an unjust leader, but the trial is a farce, and illegal to international laws, the trial should of happened at the hague, and he is being hanged which is the law of his country, where in fact he killed the shiites and kurds under treason laws of his country. It's a contradiction, and an unjust way and I agree more with #12 that it is a US message, as well to the fact that Saddam provided balance to the region, now watch Iran grow in strength as no ME country will stand up to them except Israel.
23. The trial/hung Joke of the 21st centery
Simon Mohammed ,   Falls Church, VA US   (12.29.06)
they want to hang him now and right now? wow. While he was a dictator he got help and assistance from other what about them? Now when are they going to prosecute and hang the responsible of the killing of the 600,000 human life from irak durant the last 3 years. and if we try to go straight to the goal, the acting president, and PM of Iraq need to be on trial just immediately after the excution and to be executed ASAP. Again while he was a dictator, went to wars against his neighbor (IRAN, Koweit), he was offred before the invation to leave and take what he need. He refused. now they suggest to hung him by aid el edha. what a stroy, a fiction one. I see the erupean who were friend with Sadam until 2003 making pressure on Lybia because the jusgment against nurses who in theory killed 400 child, and those children didn't revolte, they went to hospital seeking help they end up by deying while still alive. the old friend of Sadam "mostely eropean" are playing game again. I think the USA need to use their own judgment and create a deplomatic way out of this. to keep making the sens that other can't make . Thank you
24. Sadam hanging
Dan ,   San Francisco   (12.30.06)
This is Indeed MAJOR JUSTICE.
25. Could there have been another end??
just plain pete ,   cranberry country us   (12.30.06)
Hard to imagine him in a cage, getting press all the time, but also hard to put him to death dont you think?? The fallout will just put our boys in harms way again. Resist a draft. No more US boys in places such as this. All countrys must learn to defend themselves, and not demand or expect US intervention.
26. About Time
IA ,   USA   (12.30.06)
As an Iranian American, there is no sweeter news, I hope his soul get all the chemical weapons it can handle it hell! This is justice, now if somebody can take care of the mullah's in Iran too!

28. The next step
Franck ,   Montreal, Canada   (12.30.06)
The next step should be to hang Olmert the same day because he refuses to protect Sderot citizens.
29. Mahmood is sad and Lynne is confused....
DR ,   Florida, USA   (12.30.06)
You two don't even kaje mention of the thousands of innocent people that were killed by this evil despot. Of course the Us helped him vs. Iran, you have to choose the lesser of two evils. Saddam won, but he still killed so many people that hanging him is the nicest thing that we can do for him.
30. to #27, MR or MS. IA "Iranian American"
AMMAR ,   NYC,USA   (12.30.06)
The Mullahs in you country are helping US in War on Terror. I wonder who will hang them maybe you one day. Do not make same mistake in Iraq, then end up leaving your country one day and by a house in London like ALLAWI and escaping the GREEN ZONE area. Great lessons have been learned from this WAR in IRAQ. How is israel stronger after war with lebanon some one should tell me. Bye MR or MS IA.
