1. Kosher sites only ?
charles ,   petach tikva   (12.31.06)
So if Bezek has to block "unkosher" sites is it because so many of those charidi are attracted tho them ? Charidi attracted to porn sites ! WOW ! But no GAY parade in Jerusalem , or other "offending" seculars .Do what i say , do'nt do what i'm doing . HYPOCRITES !
2. To #1 The regular anti semitic fool
Pompidoo   (12.31.06)
No, monsewer jew hater. It's because of the danger to their children. And to block access to all those kinds of horrible perverts(maybe including your parading mates?) who want access to their children.
3. #1 Never used Internet?
Shlomo Silverstein ,   Maale Adumim   (12.31.06)
#1 Had you ever used the internet you would know that even when surfing for clean subjects, the internet barmbards you with filth that you never intended to see or read. Just like spam, physhing and viruses, we have the right to be protected from these porn merchants. An option for a clean filter ought to be given to every ADSL user, not just Chareidi. You owe it to your whole family.
4. Not just for Harediim
Chaya ,   Bat Yam, Israel   (12.31.06)
This could also be good for any families who want to keep their children from viewing such sites.
5. Education
charles ,   petach tikva   (12.31.06)
Yes , i receive spam's on one of my Email adresses , not on the other . That's the only unwanted mail i'm receiving . When surfing the web , only a little bit attention not to come in "dangerous" or infected sites . And my children do'nt need filters or blocking systems , they are , not religiously , well educated and know that there are some or many bad sites . Regarding anti semites , look at your iran visiting "religious" friends . Insulting is not how i express myself , i leave this to low level people .

There are international experts on these criminal topics, who give lectures on exactly what you mentioned, in the chareidi and religious communities/schools as well as secular communities and schools.. Sadly only in the States and the UK. We may wake up here one day, but probably not, as here in Israel we know everything, no?

You are right and this is true BUT we still need to be on guard all the time and aware, and know what our chidren are doing, adn who they are incontact with, as children and teenagers always know the homes of friends in which there are no such restrictions. I heard this at a lecture I attended in the UK on this very subject within an extremely religious frame work. Rabbis and educators brought the lecturer over to England.
8. Everybody should have this option
Renee, NYC   (12.31.06)
By reading the talkbacks I just found out that parents don't already have the option of blocking certain websites and, frankly, I'm very surprised. We've been doing it here for quite some time and I just assumed that was the case in most other countries. I hate to say this, but, for the most part, you can't trust your children when it comes to the internet. The accessibility of websites you wouldn't want them to be exposed to is just way too easy, and in many cases these children are more sophisticated about these things than their parents are. And please make sure you don't let your kids have a computer in their bedrooms. It should always be kept in a common area where parents can easily monitor what their kids are doing. And I know this may sound a bit like the thought police, but there have been some horrific incidents in this country, with very tragic outcomes, because of kids meeting up with internet predators.
9. Go one step further
hanina   (12.31.06)
Ya, And all those people who ruin it for kids doing their homework should be castrated and left in the mohave desert without food or water. And the people who make viruses too.
10. Business opportunity
Mike ,   Atlanta, USA   (12.31.06)
This option benefits familys and all families should have access to this option. That said, it provides an additional feature for cafes to promote and attract new/repeat customers: not only WiFi but access to online pornography!
11. Let Them Use Smoke Signals
Michael ,   Boston, USA   (12.31.06)
Rather than our having to pay the extra cost for their kosher ADSL lines.
12. Michael # 11
charles ,   petach tikva   (12.31.06)
He Michael , do you pay for their ADSL ? Do you receive bills from Bezek ? in the USA ? If you write something , at least a little bit serious and credible . Not to say something ......
13. I've a filter and even that's not
tma   (01.01.07)
always helpful. I pay 10.00 extra a month for "eyekeeper", but even with that, we still get to see immodest pictures. I'm not haredit, but I don't want filth on my computer. I've three teenage sons and I educate them well and teach them to respect women, etc. but I know that boys will be boys, and the access to porn is too easy. Sometimes we surf and see all sorts of immodest pictures, text, etc. without even looking for it. What worries me even more than that, though, are predators seeking naive youngsters. People should watch over the kids' shoulder every now and then to find out who they're chatting with, ICQ, etc. The internet is fascinating and convenient, and dangerous at the same time.
14. haredim and internet
tma   (01.01.07)
Obviously some haredim wish to keep up with the times and use the internet, but are wary of being exposed to the negative aspects, i.e. naked women. They are also extremely frightened that their children will be exposed to immodest pictures and text. They strive to keep their kids' innocense. Haredim don't even use words like "breast" nor even "breastfeeding", "sex", etc. Having such an option that Bezeq will soon provide will enable these haredim to use the internet without the worry. I will obtain it too as soon as it will be available. I don't care to pay more money to protect my precious boys and keep my computer "clean".

tma   (01.01.07)
Your first post was unnecessary. Haredim who wish to use the internet should be encouraged to do so for today who doesn't have internet? The internet would provide them with news, world events, exposure to other cultures, that they don't obtain through their communities. Charles, please stop attacking haredim whenever there is an article about them. Do yourself and everyone else a favor and either say something nice sometimes, or hold your tongue (keyboard). Does it disturb you that haredim wish to use the internet?
16. Great Idea !
Concerned Jew ,   USA   (01.01.07)
I'm tired of having E mails telling me how to make my penis larger. Charedi blocking power needer everywhere on the internet. Charedis are paradoxically ahead of their times !
17. And what about the censorship?
Jonas ,   SAD   (01.01.07)
What, rabbinical committee will say "this site is O.K., this site is not"? So, what will be the criteria? If it's just porn, O.K., but, there is something in the article that worries me: "...and allow access to only a few sites, apparently including e-mail service and haredi news sites." Great! Censorship in it's fullest! "Rav, is YNET o.k., can we go to him?" "No, of course not, they are too left!" "Rav, are pages of USA government O.K.?" "No, they are out enemy"! Way to go! Day by day, reading news like this, I feel bet knesset less at home!

Well said! Now you're talking!

charles ,   petach tikva   (01.01.07)
If i say something about charidim , it's because their behaviour we have seen the last months . If they were behaving correctly towards seculars , there would be no reason for me to attack them . Yes , charidi may surf the net , maybe they become a little bit more open to the rest of the world , by doing so . And if my writings displease you , sorry , i will not change because you ask it . It is again such intolerance from you .

I do not need your appreciation . Appreciation or not favorable comments have the value of who gives them , and you are not qualified .
21. missing the point
tom ,   toronto, canada   (01.01.07)
i would hardly call this "internet", any more than the local bais medrish is the "world". the hareidim have created a private "intranet" where only the content that the rabbis create will be available. this is not "the internet", kosher or otherwise. it is not even censorship, so much as a complete denial of any other message than that of the rabbis. clearly, bezeq seeks to make a buck by catering to this market, but i very much object to the use of the term "kosher internet" - there is nothing "unkosher" about different opinions, and there is nothing "internet" about a unidirectional flow of censored information. "there is no pravda in izvestia and no izvestia in pravda".
22. omg r u kidding me? kosher tv next?
