1. Here's a prediction...
Adam Admati ,   Israel   (01.01.07)
This project will be known worldwide for becoming the most expensive and most corruption-filled project (per km) in history. It requires that municipalities and utilities work together towards a goal. Since this doesn't happen in little monopoly-run Israel, huge payoffs and concessions will be made, all costing only the taxpayers and the poor. No wealthy person will suffer and no wealthy person will ever use it.
2. #1
tma   (01.01.07)
If no wealthy person will never use it then why would they have to pay for it? You were trying to make a point, but contradicted yourself. I'm looking forward to the TA subway.
3. don't be so pessimistic
British Oleh ,   Tel Aviv   (01.01.07)
Just because some people are greedy doesn't mean that a very good idea shouldn't be implemented… and this IS a very good idea.
4. in 5 years HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !!!!!!!!!!!!
gabriela ben ari ,   jerusalem   (01.01.07)
5. Post Number 4, what does it mean?
British Oleh ,   Tel Aviv   (01.01.07)
Someone stating "five years" and laughing childishly with "hahaha", what does this mean exactly? I think these internet talkbacks are simply an excuse for some people to show how foolish they are.
6. 5# HI
gabriela ben ari ,   jerusalem   (01.01.07)
U r right , probably only I understood my laughter I mean, The Jerusalem metro -rakevetcala should have been finished MANY years ago, according to municipality's promise We are still eating dust from construction sites. And my G-d, I wish it will work well once it starts running with everything we had to put up with to accomodate for them. Overall TA metro is a great idea. No traffic jams, no traffic lights, it will be wonderfull. I just hope for all the gush Dan residents that if in 10 years from now they will be using the metro, they should consider themselves lucky
7. Thanks for the clarification Gabriela
British Oleh ,   Tel Aviv   (01.01.07)
I didn't mean to set myself as unappointed monitor of this "talkback". I tend to agree that municipal works in Israel are a mystery, they dig up a street in January then sit and smoke cigarettes till May when they re-lay it. I just hope that it won't be like that in Tel Aviv when they build this railway.
8. AND.....
gabriela ben ari   (01.01.07)
One line running underneath CVISH GEHA will do a big service to the whole country !
9. the fare?
Eliza ,   Ramat Gan   (01.01.07)
The travel time-saving would be amazing. I wonder how much the fare will cost? Is it something that everyone can afford? The bus system is excellent but at least there'll be another choice if need be.
10. ben gurion 2000, that is all I have to say. END
(01.01.07)
11. the bus system is excellent?
dave ,   herzliya   (01.01.07)
Not compared to major European systems. Israel's public transport is decent at best
12. The fare
Barry   (01.01.07)
Lets say the project costs 10 billion shekel and it costs 1 billion a year to run and maintain. I guess that the project would need about 10 million shekel in fares raised every day. With 400000 passengers that is an average of 25 shekel a fare
13. forget subway - we want TACO BELL
(01.01.07)
14. future shelter ?
David ,   Paris   (01.01.07)
I'm afraid that underground subway will serve as shelter against future hezbollah attacks.
15. A great place for terrorist attacks
Dan ,   San Jose, California   (01.01.07)
Shouldnt we nuke Iran and the Palestinians before we consider building a target for them?
16. @ #15 subway is not an easy target for terrorists
Benjamin ,   TA Israel   (01.02.07)
quite opposite: only few entrances with hardened security posts and X-ray machines, video surveillance and open, clearly visible space. It's no worse than Tahana Merkazit in Jerusalem. British were really sloppy to allow terror attack in their Tube.
17. 5 years of Traffic hell
rh ,   Ashdod Israel   (01.02.07)
Kvish Gehah and Jabotinsky are a nightmare , I hope this does not make it worse because I may not survive the wait. I remember in 96 when the subway was just around the corner .Lets hope the workers are Chinese because they are fantastic. Lets hope no graves and Archaeological sites are found. The travel time still seems slow to me, these things should zip along.
18. Get the Palis to dug the tunnel, they're damn good @ it
john ,   nz   (01.02.07)
19. Incentive to finish early
Richard S. ,   Miami, FL   (01.02.07)
There is a big incentive to finish early the subway lines. I haven't seen all the details for the winning consortium, but I would not be surprised that the big money maker will not be the fares or the state money paying from construction. The big money maker will be all the stores for rent in the underground stations. Lev Levie (Africa-Israel) has many malls already and is no fool. Imagine what rent he can charge for a McDonald's in the underground station servicing tens of thousands of people daily..
20. Tel-Aviv Metro
Talia Garin Faye ,   Los Angeles, Califor   (01.03.07)
It is about time. I cannot wait to ride it, G-D willing, when I'll be in my seventies.
