I hope all the purists out there don't become apoplectic when I say that you can make great hummus with canned chickpeas. And while I can't give you a recipe with exact measurements, I can suggest some ingredients you might like to try. Canned chickpeas - drain and rinse, but reserve the liquid. Tahini Lemon juice Olive oil Garlic (fresh minced or powder) Cayenne pepper Cumin Salt Mix in a blender or food processor. If the mixture seems too thick, you can add some of the reserved chick pea liquid. Also, you'll probably want to taste it as you go along to see if you need to add more of any of the seasonings.

u have no idea what ur talking about - israel was not begun in 1948 but rather ages ago so yes hummus originated in israel & the middle east. those that moved to israel in '48 obviously did not bring hummus but other amazing cultures. do ur research b4 u start spouting off lies.
