fish ,   t-a   (01.06.07)
mind you ,this man only took part in a sports event and lost his citizenship. how about arab mks who visit nasrallah and assad and come back to israel without any problems?why not to strip them of israeli passports and send them back to syria?
3. US needs to END trade agreement with Bahrain
David ,   Boston, USA   (01.06.07)
Racists shouldnt get to trade with US. I will be contacting my congressman, Senators, and President about this.
4. Arab hypocricy
Tahl ,   Israel   (01.06.07)
Everything associated with Israel is bad, even if it means hurting their own citizens. And yet, they are not to too picky when it comes to receiving military and economic aid from the US, Israel's benefactor and the initiator of the war in Iraq. Isn't it time the "moderate" Arab countries, like Bahrain, would finally grow up and stop these childish politics? They must realize that without a strong pro-west coalition in the middle east, there would be nothing to stop Iran from destabilizing the entire region. And by the way, this move of stripping this runner of his citizenship, is plain stupid, and does absolutely nothing for the Palestinian cause.
5. Make the Bloke an Israeli Citizen
Bruno ,   austr/telaviv   (01.06.07)
Why does he need those bahraini bastards for? Let him compete for us and teach running here.
6. MORE ARAB HYPOCRISY...WORLD ONLY CARES ABOUT ISRAELI FAULTS
Scott ,   Australia   (01.06.07)
Like others who have made posts disagreeing with the Bahraini decision. I'd also add mine too. Its about time the Arab world ACCEPTED Israel's existence and also ACCEPT that the country will not "go away" without their own countries disappearing too.

The guy is Kenyan granted the citizenship only recently. Arab MKs are native to this land and their grand fathers lived in this land more than yours for sure.

If what you said is correct, then you should go back to where you came from. Cos. your mindset isn't compatible with the free world.
18. Bahraini Brotherhood
Alan Gerson ,   San Diego - USA   (01.07.07)
A wonderful example of the tolerance and good will of the fine people of Bahrain. Now this brave young runner knows which nation is worthy of his excellent courage and manhood, and it isn't his country of citizenship. May Israel adopt him as son and ambassador of true brotherhood, and may Muslims be ashamed of their pathetic hatred for Israel and it's beautiful people.
19. to #12
Mike ,   Atlanta, USA   (01.07.07)
So long as you never have political rights, I will feel satisfied.
20. I think it would be quite the gesture
Micha   (01.07.07)
if Israel offered him citizenship.
21. To Palestinian #12
Dan ,   USA   (01.07.07)
You apparently don't understand that citizenship is citizenship regardless of how long you hold it. It is an obligation of the state to the citizen to provide all the priveleges and protection of the state to the citizen. It is also the obligation of the citizen to be loyal to the state and obey the laws of the state. Although Bahrain is within its legal rights to strip Mr. Jawher of his citizenship for violating its laws (as absurd and discriminatory as they are). Israel is also obliged to strip Knesset members certainly of their seats if not their citizenship for violating the laws of the state. Furthermore, unlike athletes and other ordinary citizens, members of the governing body (in this case the Knesset) have a higher obligation to uphold the laws of the state since they in fact create and enact those laws and are sworn to loyalty to the state over and above the ordinary citizen.
22. Once again the Arabs are at the forefront of humanism!

23. Athlete stripped of citizenship

So much for the sports!
24. Re#2
Mike   (01.07.07)
Because the theive has to admit that he is a theive. When you steal some bodies land, U have to tolerate the reaction of the one who's land was stolen. It does not work to be a theive and arrogant in the same time...Lila Tova
25. proud
Moshe ,   Israel   (01.07.07)
I would have thoughtthat Bahrain would have something to be proud about, that their athlete beat all the Israelis. But instead, they complain and make mockery.
26. to #24
Mikeal ,   USA   (01.07.07)
firstly learn how to spell, its thief not theive and secondly get your facts straight, no land was stolen in 1948. in fact does any agressor have a right to claim his land was stolen while he himself was trying to kill and steal?
27. We need to revoke arab citizenship
Steve ,   Tel Aviv   (01.07.07)
Using Bahrain as our example, we need to start revoking the citizenship of Arab MKs and other arabs when they criticize Israel (especially when they do it abroad). Ahhh screw it, we need to just expel the arabs to Jordan. We'll do it eventually anyway.
28. #26 - You better get your facts
Khalid ,   Netherlands   (01.07.07)
You bettet get your facts right brfore criticizing people fot typos (typos happen all the time). First fact - International law says that settlements on Palestinian lands are illegal. Second fact - Peace Now movement recent report geos further to say that they violate Israeli law toosince they are built on cofiscated (read stolen) Palestinian land. Third fact - The rfugees which were expelled from the 1948 lands has been living there for generations and their ancestors too going back in time more than any of the Zionist who started emigrating at the beginning of the twentieth century (making use of the Belfor promise, and the fact the British were mandated to run the country, giving them free hand in helping settle the new immigrants). Fourth Fact - The claim of the Zionist immigrants that they constitute a single nation that were expelled from a magic Kingdom 2800 years ago cannot in any way be substantiated. On the contrary, this can be easily refuted given the diverse ethnic backgrounds of the newcomers.
29. Loss of a good athlete..bahrain
megan ,   Israel   (01.07.07)
and if i am not mistaken also ran for bahrain in the last summer olympics. Jawher just missed winning an extra nice bonus of $40,000 by a few seconds, if he had beaten the record, but baharian may also have taken that from him as well as his citizenship. Tiberias tax payers money going to bahrain would have hurt more. Well done anyway Jawher, you looked magnificent on the podium with your victors laurels and the champers, you looked happy as did 2nd and 3rd place (kenya) standing beside you. Never forget your day in Tiberias, where you stood up for sport as it should be, no politics, countries competing in sport and freindship. Didn't you hear the applause and cheers as you crossed the finish line, and everyone knew you were from bahrain, thats freedom Jawher! and if you decide to stay..welcome to Israel!
30. To Khalid #28
Jordan ,   Toronto, Canada   (01.07.07)
Khalid, there is a lesson in all of this. If you launch an invasion where the stated objective is to "drive the Jews into the sea", you better win. Because if you lose the Jews will push you back to borders they can defend. In the real world, you cannot launch & lose an ethnic clensing invasion and then scream out "our bad, do-over! Now give us back everything we lost trying to kill you guys and we will try again later."
