None of us has any way of judging the report. It could be true, part true, media manipulation, etc. This would certainly not be the first time the media is used to spread propaganda from various peace groups. And, it might also be true & that this particular person was abusive. But, we don't really know. So, calm down, take the story for what it's worth, & don't jump to unfounded conclusions.

Are you trying to represent that the Jews in Khevron can't afford a video camera? Or that Arab harassment doesn't exist? One can only conclude that Jews in Khevron don't want the full story made public. This corroborates my personal experience. One day, while serving miluim in a moshav that was deeply in debt to the bank, I went to the moshav store - in civilian clothes - to buy some groceries. (It ain't the American Air Force. Provisions don't always arrive.) One of the "settlers" whom I was protecting at night mistook me for a banker that he thought was about to repossess some of the moshav-owned cars -- and he grabbed my holstered 9mm, trying to wrest it from me. That's felonious assault and battery. I was stunned that a fellow Jew would try to jump my gun. Barukh ha-Sheim, I'm also a black belt and his attempt was, uh, unsuccessful. When I filed assault and battery charges, however, the moshav mayor -- who doubled as the "base commander" -- refused to prosecute. That wasn't the only personal incident or moshav. Another time, while guarding the front gate of the area school with several other soldiers, I noticed a small pick-up racing at the gate we were guarding. When the other soldiers dived for the safety of the ditch on both sides of the gate, I moved to the center of the road and drew my 9mm. (I forgot the Uzi hanging around my neck. It didn't work some of the time and I didn't trust it anyway.) I was squeezing off a round when the driver finally hit the brakes. The front bumper of the pick-up was actually against my leg when it finally stopped and I eased off the trigger. The hammer was about to drop when the driver hit the brakes. It turned out to be some smart-assed Jewish "settler" who thought he was Rambo and would show the stupid soldiers who was boss in that area. I filed charges of aggravated assault and battery with a deadly weapon. Not a petty thing. The regional "settler" head -- who doubled as the regional commander -- refused to file charges. Don't tell me how "righteous" the "settlers" are. And don't tell me that's not ALL of the settlers. I have seen hours of video footage of palestian families being harrassed on a daily basis by settlers, peace activists (including of course many israelis) are insulted as nazis, stones are thrown at them from settler's children. They throw their rubbish into palestinian gardens, cut down their olive trees. It is very nasty if their children are unable to even go to school without being spat at and insulted. Of course Israeli citizens and jewish people are often victims of antisemitism and terrorism but I frankly don't understand the sympathy towards the settlers if they spray the star of david on the doors of palestian homes instead of a swastikas and write underneath "kill arabs". There is no excuse for such a thing.

Simply reducing this video and incident to an argument between neighbors completely ignores the horrendous restrictions and conditions under which Palestinians in Hebron are forced to live, and the fact that there are military forces stationed in Hebron for the sole purpose of blindly protecting illegal settlements. I am not even mentioning other benefits illegal settlers receive in Hebron including unlimited access to resources and "Jewish Only" areas. Please research previous historical precedents of ghetto-ization and apartheid and notice the similarities.

Hebron is one of the three places about which our tradition says non-Jews can never dispute the legitimacy of their acquisition (along with the site of the Temple Mount and the Tomb of Yosef). Hebron is the first capital of the Jewish people where King David reigned his first seven years. Hebron is where all of our Patriarchs and most of our Matriarchs are buried. Hebron had a thriving Jewish community before the State came into existence only to be savagely attacked by Arabs in 1929. Jews who have come back to Hebron are reclaiming their heritage, and Hebron will stay Jewish forever.
