Ran Edilist? Wher does YNET get its columnists- from the faculty lounge of Haifaf or Ben Gurion Universities or from the insane asylum?

Al Ishmael ,   California, USA   (01.10.07)
The Bush administration is the party that is afraid of peace in the Middle East!!!

5. Ani mefahed shalom (I'm afraid of peace)
Daniel ,   Formerly israel   (01.11.07)
I am terribly afraid that one of these days Olmert or someone like him will suceed in making the easy peace with the Syrians and Palestinians. We already made an easyh peace with the Egyptians, and in doing so gave up the majority of our territor and strategic advantage in the region, and our south-western border has become a breeding-ground for terrorists. Egypt does everything for the terrorists except let them attack us from their territory, and this only because if it does so it will lose the money it gets from the U.S. as part of the camp david agreement. If we make a similar peace with Assad and the Palestinians we will be back at the '67 borders and the only difference will be that now the Arabs will have missles capable of reaching every point in Israel. The only thing we will get in return is a promise that we won't be attacked (and we have had these promises before ten times from each of our neigbors and they have all been broken including egypt's, since egyptian arms and intelegence officers are invaluable assets for the Palestinian terror groups). Let us remember that ISrael survived the 1967 war only because it had the guts to launch a pre-emptive strike and because Syria was late in joining the war. Today we don't have those guts and besides miracles only happen once. Besides the ARabs won't lauch a full scale invasion again, each of our neigbors has at least one terror group on its ayroll, and those terror groups will hit eery city in Israel with mortars, Kassams, Katushas, and anything else they can get their hands on until we are all gone. And even if those we make peace with keep their promises, those that follow them may not, and under easy-peace conditios we will be forever at the mercy of those who have worked non-stop for the past fifty-nine years to kill us all.
6. No mention of Sderot
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (01.11.07)
What planet does this freaking retard live on?
7. Put this freak in a padded cell
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (01.11.07)
So Israel is the one who doesn't want "peace"? Who is launching qassams at Sderot, who is holding hostages, who destroyed the greenhouses they were given, who elected a terrorist band for their "peaceful" government, who is shooting the crap out of each other right now? Peace now, baby. Pass the doobie.
8. REALY YNET
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (01.11.07)
You guys have reached a level journalism, that is hard to believe. This is such twisted reasoning, you have to start asking yourselves,if you guys are reaching a level of insanity that needs attending to. That anyone can write this utter nonsense is one thing, but to publish this for the eyes of the world! No wonder many people think that there should be no Israel. This is at a level selfhatred ,that one can only shake ones head and just wonder what the hell is next. You guys have to start taking some kind of responsibilty for the power of the written word.
9. Reminds me of 9/11 theories...
Jonathan M. Boyko ,   Ofrah, Israel   (01.11.07)
Conspiracy theories, that is. "Uncle Moses" just keeps everything quiet so that he won't have to pay the bills. Edelist is another example of one-sided view - everyone's bad, I'm - and some of my friends - good and the peace with the Palestinians depends only on us - and not on them.
10. What is this salad of idiocy? What is this nonsense?
Ron ,   LA   (01.11.07)
"The officials involved in fraud and the officers involved in problematic killings are currently living under the protection of Israel's security establishment and the government system. But they too know that if they are caught under the spotlight within the darkness, the system would renounce its obligations to them." What the guy is trying to invent here? Some kind of new conspiracy theory? Thanks G-d Israeli system is strong and deals with its corrupted promtly. Only closed societies don't have any corruption and their press doesn't expose those individuals. Have you seen any corruption in Saudi? Any corruption in any Arab country? Of course not. The fact that Attorney General investigates PM shows, that Israel is ruled by law. To blame somebody of corruption is unethical. Olmert is innocent till proven guilty.
11. Edelist is telling the TRUTH
Ani ,   LA   (01.11.07)
and all of YOU know it and so does the ENTIRE WORLD.
12. Truth hurts. Self-deception protects from pain.
(01.11.07)
13. Asking with Rifka,#1: "What peace?"
Márcia ,   Brazil   (01.11.07)
14. Peace is at hand
Peace Activist   (01.12.07)
Hamas reiterates its readiness to reach a long-term truce with Israel if Israel agrees to withdraw from all the territories that were occupied in 1967," he explained. "The fact that we acknowledge Israel does not mean that we recognize its right to take our land."
15. Looney Left & Conspiracy Theories
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (01.12.07)
When people's ideas & convictions are proven wrong by events, instead of admitting they were wrong, they start believing in conspiracy theories & myths rather than reality. The looney leftists fit into this catagory. In a sense, they have beome more "faith-based" than the religious. The more their ideas are seen to have failed, the stronger their belief & the more they invent theories to explain the failure. This phenomenon is not confined only to the looney left in our country. Anyone remember supporters of communism trying to justify the old Soviet Union? Or look at our neighbors - the more they lose the more they declare false "victories". The same applies to religious cultists - when the world doesn't end, they cult doesn't go out of business, it invents a new theory.
16. Neo-con fantasies of terrorists everywhere
(01.12.07)
are balanced out by neo-left conspiracy theories? Hmmmmm maybe the "truth" and the path to peace lie somewhere in the middle, if only we'd stop swinging from one extreme to the other.
17. Best Answer: ARABS're afraid of/don't want/can't have PEACE!
Chanan ,   USA   (01.13.07)
One needs not be a rocket scientist/brain surgeon (or Ran Edelist) to understand this simple truth.
18. To Peace (read War) deActivist: Peace is in Arab hands!
Chanan ,   USA   (01.13.07)
If they truly wanted to compromise and would keep their word Israel would give them Peace in heartbeat. Go talk to your Pillistine friends again and ask them if they want Peace the way a normal human being in the world understands it. Ask the same question of all the other Arabs and Muslims because this where the HEART OF THE CONFLICT lies: without their active role in rejecting Peace and support of terrorism this conflict could have been solved decades or a century ago. Then please come back with the truthful answer and let us all know what it is. Just be careful not be lied to and deceived as Arabs routinely do.
19. Another Answer: Ran Edelist is afraid of real PEACE
Chanan ,   USA   (01.13.07)
True PEACE with the Arab countries is hard to achieve and requires a lot of patience that Ran Edelist and the likes of him do not have. What he is suggesting will result in one of two scenarios: 1. The next war with the Arabs will be the bloodiest, or 2. The State of Israel and its Jews will be wiped of the face of the map. In either case this will bring about PEACE to the Jews.
20. They gave us that right willingly #14
Daniel ,   Formerly Israel   (01.13.07)
according to the rules of war, any country that launches an offensive war forfiets all of its land and gives the attacked country the right to cease as much of that land as it sees fit should it win the day (which is why no country has ever started a campaign of conquest against its neigbors unless it was sure it could win). Whoever said your quote is trying to cheat the book-keeper of war. Egypt and Jordan (of which today's "Palestinians" were citizens in 1967) and their allies gambled their land on the success of their bid to destroy Israel (and it was a pretty safe gamble since Soviet military analysts gave Israel a three-day life expectancy once the Arabs attacked), and so when that bid failed the land that we conquered passed legally to our posession. Any attempt to retake that land, whether military or deplomatic, is an act of war, and we have absolutely no obligation to give it back. All this does not mean that we should not make peace with the Arabs. People who bet money and people who win it from them can still remain friends. In a case like war where lives are gambled those who say that we should not make peace do have a point, after all the Arabs tried to kill us, but I say that lost land and the suffering that the occupation has caused is payment enough, and if they are willing to aggree to peace for peace than by all means let it be so. But whether in cards or in war the rules of the game state that that which is gambled cannot be returned.
21. Leftist slip of the tongue
daniel ,   amsterdam   (01.15.07)
Peace means peace, not I'll sue you later What kind of a vision of peace does this man have? We'll sign a treaty, but then are dragged in front of a court of law? That's not peace, that's surrender. This man's vision of peace is a vision of capitulation. And indeed, the left sought to capitulate, to give up, to surrender. But peace is not made that way. Peace is made from accepting that you are right from your side just as I am right from mine. You don't go dragging each other to court. His vision of peace is basically war by other means. No thanks
22. Is Edelist Sane?
Chaim   (01.16.07)
Edelist lives in a world of delusion. A world where Arab terrorists and their sponsors would love to accept Israel. A world where only Israel is to blame for the many genocidal wars launched against her. A world which doesn't hear calls for genocide by "peace partners" even when they're shouted out loud a few feet away. Is Edelist sane? One has to wonder. The fact that Edelist is far from alone in his delusions does not make them any less delusional. These are the sort of delusions which have resulted in thousands of Jews being murdered, tens of thousands maimed for life and the devastation of Northern Israel. Israel needs sanity!
