1. Women dancing
Shalom   (01.11.07)
Yes - so? What's new? Religious women have always danced - is this as interesting as YNet can get?
2. As usual
(01.11.07)
The little picture has absolutely NOTHING in common with the article.
3. #1
I'm lovin' it   (01.11.07)
Calm down. It's in the newspaper too. Discos, pubs and hangars etc are not a suitable possibility for observant women. So let these dancing queens enjoy themselves, not only with traditional style chassidic music, and not only in the fenced off space kindly(!) 'allocated' at religious weddings Nice initiative and loads of harmless, uninhibited fun within the bounds of good taste( a rare and almost extinct unknown combination)
4. The Picture Displayed Should At Least Be of RELIGIOUS Women
David ,   Jerusalem   (01.11.07)
5. separation of the sexes
peter ,   amsterdam NL   (01.11.07)
On the one hand this seems like innocent fun and I would be the last person to deny women the joy of dancing(whether public or private). On the other hand the orthodox fobia (not only in Judaïsm one might add)of mixing the sexes makes me wonder why they don't start a parallel society on a different planet. But then the Talmud contains many rulings regarding trouble between women and men. So if you want the joy you have to put up with the grief as well-or avoid the other sex as in segregated dancing.
6. True, Genuine Religious Woman Doesn't Need Such Stupidity!!!
Marcel ,   haifa   (01.11.07)
How moronic & purposeless.Do they salsa girl 2 girl, or oogle the belly dancer? C' mon, They're Dancing Hypocrites! Ever pay attention to the lyrics of Shakira & Umm songs? They might just as well be like normal women who go to a regular dance or Lesbian Club, than pretend to be religious. Seems these "religious" women have a craving for the free, fun lifestyle of the non religious that they can't control. Go eat the Forbidden Fruit, but you're Faking being religious. Better to do sports or aerobix than this garbage. But the dj and Cultural Center sure enjoy making money off those idiots!! lol
7. #6 What kind of Person are you?
Esther ,   Ofarim, Israel   (01.11.07)
These women enjoy themselves. they are not breaking any laws. Why do they need to ogle anyone?? Remember, it's MEN that have trouble controlling themselves. I guess you feel that they should be happy cleaning, cooking, having babies? Who knows, maybe you also support the segregated side-walks, the ban on the color red and the creeps that spray bleach on women's clothing. What a creep. G-d forbid that religious women should have a break from their everyday life. Self righteous judgemental, controlling, probably mysogynistic men like you make me want to throw up.
8. marcel-u r an idiot who understands nothing
mootzi   (01.11.07)
of what it means to be a religious woman or what it means to have kosher fun... if u have nothing even semi-intellegent to say, shut up and listen up.
9. Sounds like PsychoDance
arie spigel ,   baltimore   (01.11.07)
Sounds like they need psychotherapy. Thats what this dancing is all about. The lady stil dancing on the street on her way home seems high and in trance. One can see these meshugs in any nightclub when they try to dance off their problems. Its not a pretty scene. Forget about any rythm. Its just a wild tactless hopping. BTW: I thought the religious arent suppossed to dance. Go figure.
10. Marcel of Haifa
charles ,   petach tikva   (01.11.07)
Hey Marcel , your writing is as one from a religious man , so i ask myself , How do you know the lyrics of those singers ? Religious men do not listen to this music . I would say that the hypocrite are not those women , but a resident of Haifa named Marcel . And do you know that Ramat Beth Shemesh is a religious neighborhood ? Why organize those evenings there , if it is as you say a not religious way , that religious women dance ? Maybe some make money , but most important , those lady's have fun , why not ?

Don't be embarassed to seek medical help for your condition. As your blabbing is incoherent due to your excitement at your fantasies, speak very slowly to the doctor.

WHY, Doovid of Yerushalayim ir ha koidesh???? Naughty boy.
13. Marcel... chill.
David ,   Israel   (01.11.07)
First, dancing is very good excercise, and is aerobic by nature, so right their you've started chewing on shoe leather. Second, everyone needs a social outlet where they can relax between work, family, good works, and scholarship. There's nothing hypocritical about what they are doing insofar as they do it in a halachic manner. The only hypocrite I see here is you. I mean, you tell them they're wasting time, but you read and post talkbalks on the internet. Didn't your rabbi tell you that was, unlike these ladies actions, in violation of halacha?
14. Marcel of Haifa
charles ,   petach tikva   (01.11.07)
Your tb sounds as coming from an observant man . How do you know the lyrics of those songs ? By not listening to them ? Hypocrite !! Do you know that Ramat Bet Shemesh is a religious neighborhood ? That if they organize something there , that's because there is a demand for it . And it's not important that someone makes a little bit money , important is that those women enjoy .
15. #6 - Just add me to the list....
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (01.11.07)
of people who think you are an idiot.
16. Ari spigelof the nite clubs(???)

Go to a doctor with Marcel, today! it's still not too late.
17. Ari
(01.11.07)
Nut case. the woman 'in atrance' is a book review and a different article. You're losing it too fast , ariboy.A few screws loose on your top floor.
18. Dancing in the streets
Petra Blumenfeld ,   USA   (01.11.07)
In King Davids time, the women danced in the streets, after Israels victory over her enemies, religious or not. It was called a victory dance or, to dance for joy. Some men would lock all women up except to cook and clean and make babies. Golda Meir wouldn't approve or, Deborah, Judith, Sarah or any other Jewish woman of valor. We fight in the service of Israel, righ alongside the men..Have a problem with it? Too bad. Make babies and Your meals by yourself. Chauvinists.
19. Please, no sex as it could lead to dancing.
Alan ,   SA   (01.11.07)
20. Petra in King Davids time everyone was religious
Bush ,   USA   (01.11.07)
Also the only time it speaks about dancing in his time was when they brought over the ark and Torah to Jerusalem. There is definitely nothing wrong Halachically for women to dance.
21. dancing
izaak   (01.11.07)
combine the sexual and joyous with strong self restraint and the result is very alluring.
22. Shakira
Chaya ,   Bat Yam, Israel   (01.11.07)
But don't they know Shakira is anti-Israel?? So, these women aren't as isolat4ed as one might think. The outside culure has permeated the walls of ultra-orthodoxy! I bet they have a hard time keeping the prying eyes of the young guys from taking a peek!
23. Real Women Dance
TKG ,   Efrat, Israel   (01.11.07)
Check out a real production at: www.raiseyourspirits.com
24. Shakira? Please, don't spoil your wonderful evenings.
Márcia ,   Brazil   (01.11.07)
25. Dancing
Sagi ,   Israel   (01.12.07)
is a perpendicular manifestation of a horizontal cogitation. These religious women are invoking the wrath of the Lord, he will rain down on them with fire and brimstone, this is the epitome of sin. Can the Rabbis not stop this before it is too late ? I have pity on their souls.
26. Calm down everyone
(01.12.07)
That's Sags trying to be humorous. Obviously very difficult for him, but keep trying Sags (very trying!! that's an idiom, Sags)
27. #9 arie
debbie ,   N.O. LA   (01.12.07)
Why can't and shouldn't religious women dance? What kind of moron are you besides being ignorant? They have fun and that's all and just bec you see it as "meshugah"doesn't make it so.Go back into your shell.
28. # 26 n Anon
Sagi ,   Israel   (01.12.07)
Ah my nameless friend, you have very keen perception. I hope that humor and sarcasm are not sins like dancing. I should not want to suffer the same fate as these lascivious wenches. Salome comes to mind and also the Great Bard. "the wiles and guiles that women show, pray thee lord that man should know". A woman's place is in the home, washing and scrubbing, preparing food and tending to the children. Dancing ? Shumu shamaim, what a thought !
29. arie spigel
charles ,   petach tikva   (01.13.07)
You are looking well informed about psychotherapy , You had probably many , but it did not help you apparently . You are also well aware how these "meshugs" , as you write , behave in nightclubs . In how many are you a member ? Don't be such an hyporite , who tells other : behave as i tell you , not as i do .
30. Dance as if no-one is looking at you????
(01.14.07)
Hmmmmmm! and you say they are religious women?
